But Blur's next album, the self-titled "Blur" had american influences, notably Pavement, and Damon had said that "Song 2" sounded "like an early Nirvana song, simple".
Well as much as I hated the whole Brit-pop scene. It's still music played by real people as opposed to programming in a studio, so I've got to appreciate them for that at least. By the way. Oasis never actually considered themselves ''part of the Brit-pop culture''. But what do I know.

The 90's were pretty crap as far music was concerned. This so-called ''Britpop'' sucked. Legends from the Metal world were toning thier sound down to try to attract the Nirvana crowds. They failed and died away. Thank God for grunge. It killed off all the wannabe's and Metal went underground again and continues to florish to this day. Hahaha where's your Grunge now? Where's your fucking Britpop? Metal foever.
@angels77100 y'know, i used to like metal, but it all sounds the same to me, its boring, none of them do anything different, i liked nu metal for that, it was different, then heavy metal went back to the thrash and hair metal aesthetic and started getting shit again
alternative rock is and always will be better music
@w1llyr1ch I totally understand where you're coming from. I've been there. But I stuck by the few real metal bands who kept it real. Metallica should be sued and made to drop the metal from thier name. Check out Manowar's new material, or Primal Fear, or Silent Force, or (and please before you judge at least give this a listen) Ice Earth's ''Gettysburg 1863'' with Ripper Owen on vocals. You mentioned NuMetal. I'm sorry but I can't comment upon that genre as I've never actually listened to it.
@angels77100 i dont mind metallica, theyre not too bad, but heavy metal in general im not too interested in anymore cos i think its largely samey mand most people in the heavy metal community believe good technique alone makes good music when i dont believe thats the case, im open to listening to said bands, but ive kinda gone off metal, i dont listen to nu metal much anymore, i can see why its so loathed, but at the same time i think its good because it pushes the boundaries
@angels77100 but i think theres a reason why in the 90s metal bands (aside from Pantera, machine head, Metallica and a few others also including the whole nu metal thing) went out of favour in mainstream music, because it was totally saturated with awful, uninventive, bands that didnt find anything to say and sounded the same and didnt come up with anything new and so on...
@w1llyr1ch I agree with you on that. During that baron period in metal history (the mid 90's) I started looking around and listening to new stuff. You're right that everyone started to sound ''samey'' even Pantera just got sickening after a while. But one band I discovered was a little group from Leeds UK called the Music. They're like a cross between Led Zepplin and some weird rave shit. But it works. I just bought their new cd even though I'm totally submerge in the metal underground once more
@angels77100 ive never heard of them, but that sounds like an interesting mix, it seems alot of rock and metal bands experimented with dance/rave music like the whole madchester/baggy thing, aswell as primal screams screamadelica album, which i really like
led zepellin are one of my favourite bands of all time so clearly im gonna try that out xD
@w1llyr1ch Check out ''The Music - freedom fighters'' to get a taste of what these guys are like. Thier video is on Youtube. You'll love them, seriously.
The slaying of grunge was, and remains, the most enduring thing about Britpop. Musically its influence as been overwhelmingly negative. Saying that after Britpop died out the back end of the 90's was the dullest period I can remember. And that included this turd of a decade.
@TerryNutkins80 Yep, I agree. The back end of the 90's was the beginning of commercialized pop until now. Where everything sounds too saccharine, you know what I mean?
Britpop is better than grunge yes. Nirvana is the only good grunge band I think. Alice In Chains are good but I don't they are grunge more sludge metal.
@Capuano231 I would'nt say Nirvana were the only good grunge band, the most famous definitely. Lots of other great bands like Tad, Mudhoney, Screaming trees. Unfair to pigeonhole bands just becuase of era and location.
Well, yeah true, but even Oasis fans like him, well quite a few do lol. i mean, hes loads nicer than the Gallaghers, cos theyre total dickheads really..
and I'm one of the ones that doesn't give a shit about the feud.. I mean who the fuck cares that 10 years ago Country House beat Roll With It... let's move on..
However, I still live by the fact that Noel is a genius
yeah, i think your totally right mate, it is time to move on, i think people should just accept that no-one really won, and leave it at that....but i do agree with you there, Noel is a genius, but then Damon is easily as much a genius as he is, i mean, all the other stuff hes done, such as Gorillaz, are amazingly good.
Damon seemed a little bitter about Nirvana back then. Not everybody in America was about the grunge ( I should know ) Even though Blur has always been considered an "alternative" band here, their fans are very devoted <3
I hope Damon and co. feel a little more kindly towards America now =)
Back in 1992 it did seem like the UK music scene were obsessed with Nirvana & Pearl Jam and the UK bands were shocking. Then along came bands like Blur, Oasis, Elastica, Suede etc and it felt like we had our own sound. BritPop was born. Nothing against the US but as a teenager those bands meant the world to me!
By the way, Blur made peace with the US in 1997 The song Look inside America has these lyrics
But Blur's next album, the self-titled "Blur" had american influences, notably Pavement, and Damon had said that "Song 2" sounded "like an early Nirvana song, simple".

Britpop has basically become the norm. Lily Allen is Britpop as is Kasabian, etc is is simply talking about life and getting people energized.
