  • That is golden.

  • This is incredible. I would buy this

  • This is totally eargasmic!

  • @podbay man, shut the hell up already. You're making yourself look bad.

  • Haha, fantastic!

  • when are we gonna see the reverse: bon iver in the style on bon jovi? bon ivovi? COME OOOOOONNN SKINNNY LOVE!!! OWW LEMME HEAR YOU CLEVELAND!

  • The worst of both worlds

Also: Justin Vernon's girlfriend > Jon Bon Jovi's mistress

  • What has science done!

  • MoMS: y u no make this longer?!

  • Fucken gay

  • I saw 35 shows last year and Bon Iver was in the top 5. You haters are weak as shit! take your negative OPINIONS to a message board

  • please don't feed the trolls

  • This is amazinggg!!

  • damn, I wish it was full length!

  • ahhaahahaah

  • Dear Bon Joviver, Please make this longer. Please. I beg you.

  • @masonjarism Good LORD, I could not be in more agreement with you!

  • @podbay Wow, If i had any inclination that you knew what you were talking about, I would take you seriously. But go ahead: post more Steely Dan videos, who royally suck in concert. Don't look up the BI performance on Skinny love form Letterman with three drummers, don't find the performance in a french flat of flume. That performance of Holocene was one of the best SNL performances IN YEARS. By all mean, capture that bird singing on video, since you're the harbinger of all that's interesting?

  • @blatchy The name calling and dissing my videos is good. I applaud that you looked at my site. I won't respond in kind, however, I respect that you like Bon (H)iver, but agree with @louisunderwood. I'm astonished that you thought Holocene was the best SNL performance in years. Wow. I find Vernon's stuff dull, boring, and completely lacking in originality.

  • @blatchy As for Steely Dan, Vernon couldn't tie Fagen's or Becker's shoelaces if he had the opportunity. Also of interest to me - you chose to slam my one video of the Dan, but you didn't do the same to my videos of Buffalo Tom, Chris Trapper, or TV on the Radio. Are those performers higher up on your list of ones you might actually enjoy? Just curious. Have a good day, and peace to you.

  • And as soon as you called them The Dan, I phased out. Really? Really. I have all their stuff seen them a few times, have all of Fagen's solo stuff.

In here's what I know. They suck in concert. Technically amazing, not moving whatsoever. When they start going to Becker's solo stuff, there's a mass exodus. Why? They made amazing crafted studio albums that don't translate to stage other than a rehash of the album track.

And how many other acoustic acts are singing primarily in falsetto?

  • @blatchy Sorry that you phased out there, old boy. Really. Honest and for true. Sorry, next time I'll refer to them as Steely Dan. I've seen them in concert 15 times, loved every show. They just keep getting better. But you know that they totally SUCK in concert, don't you? Clearly you, not me, are the "harbinger of all that's interesting."

  • @blatchy Oh, and please permit me one last rant. WTF is with his song, Calgary? Giving a song a name that has nothing to do with its content, and making it as obscure as possible, is serious hipster masturbatory bullshit. Family and friends of mine in Calgary heard that song and were like, is this guy serious? Anyway...

Q: why does having three drummers on one song make his performance on Letterman any better than, say, two, or one drummer? Just curious.

  • @podbay You have no taste whatsoever. Bon Iver is one of the best new musicians of 2011. Each one of his songs are an experience. Justin Vernon is not only highly talented singing, he's brilliant when it comes to composing music. Also, Bon Iver = dull, boring, and completely lacking in originality?! HA! Their music is unlike anything we've ever seen. His songs are mellow, yet uplifting. You, your family, and friends who find Bon Iver "dull" are fucking idiots. Tasteless, pathetic bastards.

  • @squawstar You know that Bon Iver has been around a lot fucking longer than 2011, right?

  • @encorp I'm aware.

  • @squawstar Wow. Well done. Thank for you concluding that my family and friends who realize that Justin Vernon's music is derivative and boring are fucking idiots and tasteless, pathetic bastards. I'm curious to know how you know about the musical tastes of so many of my contacts. Astonishing! As with @blatchy, I will not respond to you in kind and call you names. Also, you know absolutely nothing of my musical tastes whatsoever. Anyway, thanks, and have a great weekend.

  • @squawstar Just curious about one thing: among your friends, family, etc., who may actually disagree with you musically, do you also consider them to be fucking idiots and tasteless pathetic bastards? Or do you allow them their opinion to disagree with you and find something you like boring and dull, or simply not something that holds ANY appeal for them? Consider not using profanity and name-calling when expressing a dissenting opinion. Just a thought.

  • @podbay You know what? You're right and I'm sorry. Now that I look back on my comment I do find it a bit harsh. I apologise for those rude comments. We simply have different music tastes and that's ok. You, too, should watch your language as I see in another comment to @Fender1424 you said some nasty things!

  • @podbay I do believe you are ignorant of the fact that the songs on the album Bon Iver are named after locations.

That being said, the name of a song doesn't have to appear in the lyrics. You passed your ignorance as fact.

  • @Fender1424 You are correct sir. While I find Justin Ivernon's music incredibly boring, I had not taken the time to scan his song titles on the Bon Bon Iver Iver album. Thank you for pointing this out to me. Still, the song Calgary has shit to do with Calgary. I have family there, I've been there a zillion times. Completely and utterly meaningless. Makes no fucking sense whatsoever. Maybe he wrote it there. We'll never know.

  • @podbay LOL! Ummm ok, I'm sorry that his songs aren't more literal for you. Maybe he can do a song called Alphabets and just start reciting letters, would that help? Or he can write a song called NYC and just start reciting directions off his GPS. Get some co-operative crossover with Garman.

I love Buffalo Tom. But after that last remark, I regard your appeal in them as a fluke and/or opportunistic...

  • @blatchy Actually, I probably need to ease up on my criticisms of Vernon. Really, in the end, does he give a rat's ass what I think? No. He just wants to sell albums and sell out concerts and make more records. More power to him, I guess. Maybe I need to listen to his stuff again. As for Buffalo Tom, been a fan since 1991. Went to NYC in 2010 and Boston twice in 2011 to see them perform. It was not a fluke, and it's the kind of music I enjoy performing myself when I jam with my friends.

  • @podbay Exactly, which is why he self-released his first album before being picked up by that powerhouse Indiana-based label, Jagjaguwar (get Sharon Van Etten, btw), and then released his second album on 4AD. Because it's a ploy to get in front of those 10s of 4AD freaks. Mmmmhmm. Wasn't Buffalo Tom signed to RCA records? And Polydor?

  • @blatchy OK, I'm going to relisten to his albums. It's a waste of energy being so negative on the guy. Buffalo Tom recorded their last 90s album in 1999, then took a break until Three Easy Pieces in 2007, and Skins in 2011. Look for these albums if you haven't heard them, both are solid efforts in the BT tradition. I saw Sharon Van Etten on the Onion site - search "cannibals van etten" to see the video. Thanks for that suggestion, I'll follow up on it as well.

  • @podbay

Why not look up Anais Mitchells' Hadestown album? Justin Vernon contributes some great vocals to a very diverse record. Also, while it's not my usual bag, he did a great production job on Kathleen Edwards Voyageur album. While I haven't gotten into the self-titled Bon Iver album so much, I really love For Emma, with it's organic feel it sometimes reminds me of Laughing Stock-era Talk Talk. Definitely a talented guy at the least.

  • Wow, that must have cut deep. Love nailing people. So you tsk childish name calling and you could care less for classifying music...when you're the first to launch with "wuss hispter doosh music" and then labels artists as Adult-Contemporary (but you don't care about labels...oops)? I doubt you can even tell me why you like what you do. Wait I can: because someone else told you.

Thanks for playing, though. And you have the perception of a rock. Go cry on your Soft Boys LPs...

  • @blatchy Oh yeah, I'm reeling from the cut! So deep! Deep like the axe blow of a weeping lumberjack on anti-depressants after castration. But it cuts... so gentle! Listen... can you hear? Wussssssss... dooooooooosh... Good luck on your final exams!

  • @louisunderwood Learn to stand up and stick by for good music, not the notion that you listen to good music.

Until then, keep being the coolest looking poser in a Taking Tiger Mountain t-shirt in the room....

  • @blatchy Wait, wait, you actually used the word poser? Ha! How old are you? 12? I do love Brian Eno, but I don't own a t-shirt. Also, I am standing up for good music. Or, at least, music I define as good. Couldn't care less what's indie or mainstream. If it sounds good I like it. Bon Iver blows. Hence, I don't like them. Maybe YOU should learn that not everyone shares your opinion?

  • @louisunderwood It's great you can let other people tell you that Purity Ring is great. Glad that Sirius XMU is working for you. That you're hip because you know the guy from Atlas Sound is the guy from Deerhunter. And that Siouxsie and Gang of 4 clips make you look cool (throw an X clip in their somewhere for bonus points). But it's so playbook, so self serving that it smacks of the ultimate hypocrisy: you calling out others to mask your own insecurities.

  • @blatchy Huh? Hey, didja forget your meds? I'm not hip at all and not pretending to be. I like what I like because I like it. Bon Iver blows. Siouxsie and the Banshees were awesome. I really like that Purity Ring song (mostly because the video is REALLY great). I don't even know who or what Deehunter is. Is that a band? Point being: Your point? Lemme know how your freshman year is going. Sounds like it's not going so good.

  • @louisunderwood I get it. It's the same douchery that's going to, that's always made you make you cut-and-run, to divest yourself of any public acknowledgement that you ever liked that band in the first place as soon as the wrestle with mainstream popularity. Did you burn your Arcade Fire EPs last year?

  • @blatchy Arcade Fire? Never liked them. Same whiny hipster doosh bullshit. Your point?

  • @louisunderwood Exactly. Adult-contemporary music...although the the album I mentioned is an indie release, released and almost played exclusively by indie music outlets (oh, and universally adored by indie critics everywhere) . If you're getting to Bon Iver now and branding them adult alternative, welcome! Not only are you wrong, you're also 4 years behind.

  • @blatchy I couldn't possibly care less if they're indie or not. They blow. It sounds like wuss adult contempo. Your point? I'd rather listen to Ke$ha on infinite loop than hear any of this weepy lumberjacks castration monologues.

  • @blatchy Does being "universally adored by indie critics everywhere" suddenly elevate Justin Vernon to some new, elevated hipster status? Who gives a shit what "indie critics" think? I gave that first album a serious listen, and it put me to sleep.

  • @blatchy

I have nothing against this guy, but I absolutely do not get the appeal. As for Arcade Fire, have you seen them perform live? They absolutely put every ounce of energy into their shows. I watched Vernon and his band last week, and the two performances were bland and listless. That said, I wish him all success.

  • How to make wuss hispter doosh music sorta funny for 2 seconds = this.

  • Comment removed

  • I knew they were related.

  • i love the random fret noise at the end

  • Pretty awesome! :)

  • Please complete the song. please?

  • The bit at 0:31 Reminds me of Kate McGills song REPLACED, take a look at it and u'll see why.

Such a beautifull bit of Harmony.

  • @molesticles i agree! this really sounds like Replaced!

  • Bon Iver. Bon ee-VAIR. What's the big deal? Go into the forest while you're sick and make an album on a four-track and the indie crowd goes nuts. But this parody is brilliant. Thank you.

  • @podbay That he made a perfect album alone in the woods. What have you done lately?

  • @blatchy I think it depends on what you mean by "perfect album." If your definition of "perfect album" is: "Technically proficient, but excruciatingly boring, whiny, and wuss adult-contemporary music crafted by faux lumberjacks for affluent, trust-funded hipster douchebags," then yes, Bon Iver must seem like a "perfect band" who writes "perfect albums."

  • @louisunderwood My feelings exactly. And WTF was that on SNL last Saturday? I think this guy is redefining hipster for a new generation of trilby-wearing latte-sippin' NPR-listening douchebags indeed.

  • @podbay I listen to NPR too, for the newsings, but I hate doosh music and this whole faux-hip "indie" dooshery. Gimme somethin' good. This Bon Iver shit is like, what, masturbating to your own sadness? It's fucking awful. But, admittedly, techincally proficient. They can all sing and they can all play. They're talented, but BORING and bland. Like some sad wallpaper. To their fans I say: take your meds and lighten up.

  • @blatchy Perfect album in the woods? Er, no. No, he didn't.

  • @podbay - Someone missed the part where this is a parody, i think? ;-)

  • @amylh322 Er, no I didn't. I know it's a parody, and I love it. I just don't get Bon Iver. Overrated hipster hooey.

  • i dont get it

  • This is so amazing you need to do the whole song!

  • I immediately got the goosebumps.

    Fantastic.

  • this is genius.

  • Funny. You should do the whole song.

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH que cool ;D

  • As well as being exceptionally funny, it's also very good. Jolly well done and that.

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!! loved it

  • I don't get it...

  • YES!! Full song please!!

  • Aha that's shit

  • I will make love to each of you.

  • @goldghosted separately or at the same time? Hi-oh!

  • @DonChunky I'm not prepared for that kind of conflict!

    (...both.)

  • Rofl

  • i almost fallen asleep lol never thought that i would ever fall asleep with that powerfull song lol!!

  • err... they can't sing!

  • cock

  • hahhahhahah

  • spot on gov'ner

  • I was under the impresion that there would be an entire song....

  • How does 'Sneezing with my eyes open' have more views than this?

  • Im a Jovi fan, and this is AWESOME!

  • Really love this... wish it was longer :)

  • Jesus fucking Christ, white people.

  • Very very good

  • fuck hipsters, this sucks

  • Brilliant Idea! Funny stuff. Perfect lite satire on both sides. It´s a shame that most Bon Jovi fans probably have no idea who Bon Iver is. Thanks for the laugh. And hey, nice harmonies....

  • @billypopulus true and vice verse.

  • the fuck is this

  • DINGOS FOREVER!

  • I love my grand cherokee!

  • Was rather hoping this was a full song

  • Lol Bon Jovi fans

  • Please please finish this song and perform the whole thing! Please? Thanks! muah xoxo Tessthefirst

  • omg this is so magical. BRILLIANT

  • WTF?!

  • some punkass cheap shot imitation group? haha @BonJovisGirl001 needs to chill. It's Fair Use, it's meant to be humorous and will probably result in Bon Jovi and Bon Iver, and Miracles of Modern Science all getting extra downloads. So relax, it's all in good fun.

  • Not when you are a true devoted fan of The Original Jon Bon Jovi group, and not some punkazz cheap shot imitation group.

  • @BonJovisGirl001 they're clearly covering the style of Bon Iver, not Bon Jovi. If they were covering the style of Bon Jovi, they would be clad in leather, wearing guyliner and the video would be on about 300 views.. because no one wants to hear Bon Jovi.

  • @crazybidder999 And you're clearly mistaken about Bon Jovi. They don't wear eyeliner, but most importantly, MILLIONS of people love their music.

  • @BonJovisGirl001 It sounds nothing like Bon Jovi you dumbass.

It's a COVER, which means they use Bon Jovi's lyrics, but this is still unique

  • @BonJovisGirl001 you do know that your user name is Bon Jovi's Girl, right?

  • @BonJovisGirl001 i think you need to go get in the face you dont know what your talking about learn to appreciate art you ignorant dumb girl

  • Love it. I want more! :)

  • Damn that was good, I guess having flawless sound doesn't hurt the joke, but I was sort of in awe.... then a wide smile crept upon me. Works on many levels, and i agree with other the whole song would ROCK and roll....

  • This is the best thing since sliced bread!

  • we need a full thing or an album this is amazing!!!!!

  • @BonJovisGirl001 It's Fair Use by copyright law. Look it up. As a parody, it's completely legal, and no permission is needed.

  • @BonJovisGirl001 shut the hell up and appreciate something amazing! this is considered art oh wait you wouldnt know because all you listen to is bon jovi D:

  • @evan2076 I listen to Bon Jovi too and I appreciate this video. I love art and I love Bon Jovi, so don't be so simplistic in assuming that Bon Jovi fans don't know how to appreciate art. I think this time the joke is on you.

  • @BonJovisGirl001 Loooool EXCUSE US GUISE, they have to get Mr. Jon Bon Jovi himself's permission to cover this...right...

  • @BonJovisGirl001 you should calm down.

  • @BonJovisGirl001 You are in dire need of a donkey punch.

  • @christ15857 "Bon Jovi Can Suck My Dick"

  • @christ15857 I've just finished telling some jokes to a sponge – turns out it has a better sense of humour than you.

  • @christ15857 Because Bon Jovi songs being done over and over again by countless people is your problem with this? As if the song hasn't been ruined by every Karaoke night there's ever been? Nope. THIS is what makes you angry.

  • Bon Iver /all/ of the things!

  • Hahahaha this is great.

  • I wont be able to take Bon Iver seriously ever again

  • @j0aquin Does anyone?

  • @Sage80 Cool.......

  • @Sage80 Bon Iver charted at #2 opening week on the Billboard chart last year and several of his touring shows sold out. You're an idiot.

  • soooo beautiful; get read for the Christmas number 1 boys

  • BON IVER ALL THE SONGS!!!!

  • Amazing....so, so amazing!

  • Well played, MoMS, well played.

  • More please.

  • Ahahahaha

  • You combined my love for 80s music and Bon Iver, for that I am eternally grateful.

  • @bpal92 have you seen Bon Iver covering your love by The Outfield?

  • Full song pleeease :)

  • Does Justin know about this yet? I'm sure he'd find this shit incredible!

  • not long enough!

  • When this goes viral you guys should be able to afford to finish the song, and maybe even some lights

  • @icouldbethewalrus83 And maybe even a razor

  • Brilliant!

  • This is awesome!!!

  • I have no idea what I just watched but I want to see more.

  • Comment removed

  • @dauf76 People who say such things usually have problems with their own sexual identity. Just saying...

  • @TimMer1981 sorry, bad word choice, what I should have used was the word lame or better still shite... yes... this video, in my humble and relatively insignificant opinion, is utter shite!

  • This is horrifying. It hurts my ears, the screeching, the wailing, the whining. Nails on a chalkboard.

  • this is fucking hipster porn

  • I fully support this existing. Ye hath found a niche!

  • wonderful.

  • awesome!

  • SHIT JUST GOT REAL

  • so yeah, this channel is going viral. That's for sure

  • Why isn't this for sale somewhere? I would buy it right now!

  • You think this is good? Wait until you hear Neil Young Cannibals!

  • Perfect.

  • i cant believe anyone listens to bon jovi (burned out rock hoors) anymore.

  • @kargenlewis well you better believe it. They have millions of fans all around the world, they're a lot more popular in Europe, Japan and Latin America than they are in the US. It's a shame we don't appreciate our legends as much as the rest of the world. They are one of the best rock bands in the world for sure, and have been for many years, which is something to respect right there even if you don't like their music.

  • wait... i want this to be a real thing

  • Bon Joviver used Lullaby!

    Bon Joviver fell asleep.

    It's Super Effective!

  • I have never in my life commented on a video before but I will be so very sad if this doesn't become the full song. Or full album. Or full discography.

  • Brilliant guys, absolutely brilliant.

  • Genius.

  • Great!!

  • This is absolute brilliance. Bon Jovi has never sounded so pure.

  • Bon iver is my favourite, but this is still so funny
