  • He kinda looks like Sammy Davis Jr. with glasses.

  • @moviebuff1941 Except a hell of alot taller.

  • Music, don't you just love it.

  • So many great singers from one group and so many great songs. Wonderful!

  • I love the Temps! This is what i call real music.. Everything about the Temps and all motown classics is there originality. There so Original! Nowadays its music about money, fame and sex etc.. Or playing around with singers voices etc .. If only the originality stayed alive! The Temptations are the best ; and even though they got sidetracked their voices were and always will be definately inspiring.

  • regardless of the drug demon, when he showed up, he never lost the voice or the ability to perform, rip ruff, you are missed by me, i still remember that young super smooth fine young lead singer, i still can her him tonite

  • This is not a Temptations performance. This is from the last tour David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks did. Still a great performance.

  • "The Temptations" nuff said!!!

  • You guys see Eddie sing when no one else is singing at 5:43 then looked around to see if anyone notices hahaha lol

  • the greatest ever

  • I love the drummer and I love music thats why im here, I could be listening to this then "Eskimo joe Forgien land" I love all jounders as long as has fire/soul/something.

PS I know I cant spell so stick it nerds, I speak and can pronounce.

  • SANG DAVID!!! I LOVE ME SOME TEMPTATIONS-:)!!

  • awh mayne, am I the only one that can tell the difference in David's voice. Cocaine is a horrible thing. it's so sad how he died. You guys can learn about him on UnSung, they are going to do an episode on him in February.

  • Look at Ricky smiley..

  • This is just David and Eddie those are the the other Tempts.

  • @Ikenstein ..I don't know who those guys are in the back. maybe that is when Eddie and David were doing their own Temptations group, while Otis had the original Tempts, well of course not the original lineup. The gropu was not the same when Eddie and David left. But that cocaine demon really messed David up. I understand that drug demon messed with Dennis Edwards and Ollie Woodson. The current Temptations is not that good. I'd rather look at YouTube and see the old group.

  • A passionate vocal performance of the song, but the drummer really detracts from it. He ruins the bridge with overplaying. Those old Motown session players can't be beat.

  • What a great song . I dance with a sweet lady and we were in heaven for 3 minutes.

  • @mrtcrunner123 you together or one off? She your girl?

  • Sounds like a lot of young people writing the great comments here. I, too, love this music as much today at age 61 as I did as a very young teenager. Never got to see them live like I did the Beatles, but their songs hit me with the same gut-wrench that they did when brand new. .

  • THe drummer is sick,,,, all though the singers might get pissed for him going off to much.

  • This makes me cry, Oh how I wish I lived to hear them in real life.

  • that drummer can shred!

  • i love david ruffin he was truley a great singer

  • Does anyone have them performing at the Kennedy Center honours for Smokey Robinson?

  • Yes virginia177612 and today I was listening to some new "song" , and what is REALLY missing ,too, is a melody. People now just fish around with notes that have no connection, that is why the songs never get above bad/fair. You can't sing 'em.

  • this guys are like my hero

  • As I look back to those days , it's amazing that the artists like The Temptations , Smokey Robinson , The Four Tops from Motown --- The Rolling Stones , Beatles , The Beachboys etc. all sang live and wrote music --- Not so today --- all show very little talent , dirty language , and all gimmicks --- pretty sad ---

  • yes you have right mdschereco. lets go back to this time

  • who dis likes this FOOLISH CHILDREN

  • not all.

  • The Temptations could never replace Ruffin. His voice was so unique, there was no one who could replace his great singing voice.

  • THIS IS TRUE SWAG!!!

  • The best song I ever dance 2. Pure

    Classic.

  • He's got some talent, but why does he look so old? smh he was only 50 when he died...So im guessin he's in his 40s in this clip...Sad what drugs can do to you...

  • OMG!!! Thank you so much for posting this!!! This is gold... David Ruffin is one of the best singers of all times in my humble opinion, and let's not even mention Eddie. Temptations were a huge success thanx to both of them... I wish I was there in that audience...

  • At 3:50 and 5:13 Wats the name of those songs

  • this is the david ruffin revue w/eddie kendricks.only eddie and dabid are originals.later that year The Temptless Temptaions ,eddie kendricks, dennis edwards, and david ruffin went on tour.learn the history behind this stuff so we wont waste time with it.POST IT CORRECTLY PLEASE!!!!

  • When was this recorded..

  • WOW, all they needed was a David Overstreet solo to top it off!

  • 5:39 LMFAOOOOOO look at Eddie behind David... ahahahah singing for no reason and looks around to see if any of the camera's we facing him!! lmfao

  • david ruffin the best singer of the century

  • David's brother had a more powerful voice than him, but David has a voice that no one can mimic

  • @poppinthangs No!!! DAVID WAS THE SHIT!! FUCK ANYONE ELSE!! lol

  • @poppinthangs Oh yeah? What brother is that? I only know of one brother of his that sung professionally, and his name is Jimmy Ruffin. Jimmy Ruffins voice bore a striking resemblance to David's, however, Icannot say that it was strong as his brother's, as Jimmy's voice was softer.

  • @jookinmus Don't count Jim out songs such as: Shake Hands With A Dreamer, Gonna Give Her All the Love I've Got, How Can I Say I'm Sorry, Beauty Is Only Skin Deep. He does his thing on them

  • 4:43-4:59 wow.... ORGASMIC!!!!

  • This is an awesome live performance.

  • The only difference between music makers in the 70's and the ones now, is that the music makers in the 70's could write songs, sing, and play instruments.

  • @mdschererco I agree with you 100 percent

  • @mdschererco - I agree that 70's music is far better but re the Temps, they were the best vocalists without doubt but NOT musicians (The Funk Brothers played on all their Motown hits) and they did not write their own stuff either (Smokey Robinson, norman Whitfield, etc did)..................

  • This easily had to be one of the best live performances ever. I wish I could've been there for this concert.

  • David was an awsome singer as were all the Tempts!

  • Love, Love, Love David! Had one of the best voices in the industry.

  • i love old music toooo i love it matter of fact...

  • Rosita, thanks for this lovely post. Brought me to tears, and back 40 years.

  • David died of a broken heart.....

  • others have covered this song, though they are great singers i think that they should leave this greatest pop/rb song ever penned song by david ruffin alone.

    opion only

    revll

  • What a great song from the soul... Real music... It's brings back alot of good memories with a lady could dance to this song like an angel....

  • Now Mr David Ruffin was a bad bad man!!!!!

  • Rip Music

  • 5:01 magic

  • Wow this song is mediocre, when compared to Dubstep.

  • @LeetGuitar LMFAO

  • @LeetGuitar

Is that your own brain, or are you running it in for an idiot?

  • thank you sososo much for posting this video and song-so beautiful and david is so greatly missed!!!!!

  • thanks for the memories

  • Actually David and Eddie only temptations up there. There missing Otis, Paul, Melvin, and Dennis. Still a good concert.

  • i was foutunate enough to see both the Temptations and the Four Tops..Good show but the Temps were so professional..This was with all the originals

    Peace

    Doc

  • Actually people say that Justin Bieber sings about love... tsc tsc...

  • WOW....THANKS FOR SHARING FIRST TIME IVE SEEN THEM ALL TOGETHER BEFORE THEIR DEPARTURES.....

  • LONG LIVE THE SIXTIES IN OUR HEARTS,WE LIVED IN A GREAT ERA,LIFE SEEM REAL,RIP TEMPTS

  • I wish people would stop referring to this video clip as the last live performance that david & eddie had with the tempts. The tempts are not in this clip and never were. This video just shows the greatest of David and Eddie.

  • My father always said David Ruffin was "The Temptations"!

  • Motown Died when they Screwed over... David, Eddie and Paul.

  • David was the best!

  • I'm happy to say that I lived during the 60s difficult times, to say the least ... it was Great! I thank God that I survived. The 60s were an unpredictable time. I often felt that the world was going to end before 1970. I lost some friends in the "unpopular" political war that was (VietNam). Still today I remain traumatized of the times in which changed my life forever.

  • Too bad ruffin had to die

  • I Sadly have to grow up in this crummy era of poor music. People make fun of me for listening to this but I dont care cause I know this is what true music is. Bring back the 60's and 70's

  • @TheNorthernSoulKing I grew up in that era, and it was Great!! Its up to you to keep the era going,. Why worry about what the others say, your just ahead of your time. Your smarter then they are because you can and feel see things that they don't see or feel. Thank you, your great!

  • @paladen1000 Thank you for the compliments. Wish this music will make a come back

  • @TheNorthernSoulKing We can`t bring back the 60`s or 70`s but we can keep them alive.... Just keep playing the music and the greats who are no longer with us will live on in the music they gave us........Music don`t have an age it lives on for ever. So just enjoy what you like and don`t worry about the people who make fun of you they are the ones who are missing out

  • @Noremac241 I ment by bring them back was dancing at clubs. Wish we could I love to dance to this music not rap or any of the garbage today. Some of todays is ok but most stinks

  • @TheNorthernSoulKing I love when I see younger people out here loving this music. You can tell by my name that I was around when the Mighty Temptations broke onto the music scene with their unique sound. As I have said before, this group and others out of Motown was all there was to listen to when the British brought their "elevator shit music" to our shores. This was a time when you needed to have a voice and a good song with words that meant something to have hit songs. Watch their Movie.

  • @Brooklyn50s My mp3 player is nothing but soul, funk, motown, jazz all from the 60s and 70s

  • @TheNorthernSoulKing so u cud make a playlist for us :D

  • @lcharsl Yes if u would like one tell me what songs you havent heard in awhile and Id be glad to hopefully youtube wont take them down like they do half my songs but instead they allow someone to fart in a microphone and they keep that up?

  • @TheNorthernSoulKing Good for you,see you in Whitby......

  • @TheNorthernSoulKing Thank you for all of the likes and this video

  • @TheNorthernSoulKing Oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh... You were there in the 60's while this guys were the news... Whoa! Nice. I was put in the wrong era by God... I was born when these things were already out of date... And if people make fun of you, imagine me... My friends listen to eletronic music, while I want to hear real instruments being played, with real singers doing their best,

  • @SarahBogus I feel you I really wish I was in the 60s now

  • @TheNorthernSoulKing We do have great singers, and great music in our time too... But people insist in not giving them space. With rare exceptions, like John Legend, for example. Good singer!!! See for the 90's R&B. Good quality in vocals... But where are those people now. Hiding in independent labels, while puberty boys with no quality in voice what so ever (sorry Justin Bieber, but you should wait for all the voice changing for your own good) are dominating the charts.

  • @SarahBogus I didnt mean all music was bad in our era I do like John legend I ment the crapy rap music Justin Bieber type music

  • @TheNorthernSoulKing Justin, if well mentored, and if he wants to, he will be a great singer someday. With the right music and the right training. For now, it seems like Usher and his mom were interested in make money out of him. But, yeah, you're a sooooooooooo right when you say you miss those days, cause these were the songs playing on the radio. The good ones. You had to be a great singer to be on a record label. Today is more about the looks, and the behinds... Hahaha

  • @TheNorthernSoulKing Just remind them that you have good taste in music!!!

  • @crazyromanian1 I ignore them and turn up the speakers as loud as they will go my generation is really screwed if people get really up set over video games. I think I would have made more friends up till now if I had grown up during those times

  • @TheNorthernSoulKing It wasn't perfect but I still think it was better....the music was for sure.

  • @crazyromanian1 Seems like the people were more intelligent and fit back than they are today

  • @TheNorthernSoulKing People sure socialized more and weren't glued to computers. video games, TV's.....maybe they ate less and danced more. As kids we were always outside playing. Those were the days!!!

  • @crazyromanian1 Hopefully we can revisit those days at least with the music

  • @TheNorthernSoulKing Oh yeah, that is doable, it is amazing the memories a song can bring back.

  • @crazyromanian1 Do you know of any good jazz or funk songs that are upbeat? Im always looking for new ones

  • @TheNorthernSoulKing Any specific era?

  • @crazyromanian1 Nope any era would be fine

  • the temptations are still here (new album name BTW) but it's more like Otis Williams with help lol.

  • David The Greatest Soul Voice of All Time R.I.P.

  • Looking at this video, you'd never believe that all of them are dead except two.

  • @ChiknThighTatorPie All are dead execpt 1, the Founder, Otis Williams.

  • @Y0UdunG00FED when did dennis edwards die?

  • @UsernameJones Dennis Edwards did not die, but I am talking about the "classic five"

    Melvin, Otis, Eddie, David, Paul.

  • A ultima vez que eles tocaram My Girl, essa é em homenagem ao melhor amor da nossa, vida, o ultimo (ou aquele que acreditamos ser o ultimo, ou seja, o da vez!)

  • R.I.P. David Ruffin. What a voice.

  • RIP David! Loved your voice.

  • What a masterpiece...can someone please, please tell me where I can get the entire box set including the last performnace on dvd

  • David, David, David thanks for sharing that voice with us you are the greatest of all time no more needs to be said. R.I.P. til I can get my ticket to the greatest choir of all-time that I know that you will be leading. Simply the best. Thanks who ever posted this....

  • very touching @517, Make u wanna cry!!!

  • David was no control freak. He just spoke out two different definition.

  • Ive always known of the Temps but never really got into them. Ive heard all there music. Been listening to them for the past week now. OMG! They were awesome! Too bad I didn't realize it before. Looking for the box set now. LOL!

  • There are only two Temptations on this stage, David and Eddie.

  • @SyrenniaLestrange

Our original disagreement months ago was on whether it was right to attack David who is not here to defend himself, right? You replied that you were exercising your right to free speech. Fair enough.

For the record, I love America, and have traveled there on several occasions and you're right that many people look up to her as a beacon of hope in a dark world. For my part, this row is over. Cheers M. p.s. I'm not Spanish. I was born in England but live in Spain.

  • MUSICAS BOAS ERA NESTA ÉPOCA...NÃO PUDE VIVER ÉSSA ÉPOCA MAS CRESCI OUVINDO MEU TIO OUVINDO NOSTALGIAS ENTÃO...EU SOU UMA APAIXONADA POR BLACK MUSIC.NOSTALGIAS..

  • brought tears to my eyes watching ruffin here.

  • RIP Mr. Ruffin and Sir. Eddie James Kendricks

  • How did sweet soul music like this evolve into the noise that called music today????

  • RIp to all the Temptations. A real class act that is hard to find today!

  • Eddy was also an inspiration to the Temptations. He will be remembered. God bless his soul.

  • 2011 Version of this song here

  • @MrVoxter Hum... In my music lover experience (humble), many tried to sing it, but only David can make it real nice. Even the writter (Smokey Robinson) can't do it so hip and fresh. So... Let's pray that David Ruffin Jr. read this, and maybe he could give it a try... But if you want to hear a kinda new recording on it, I suggest you go find Westlife's version. It is 10 years old or so already, and it's more pop and less R&B, but the group made a pretty descent job.

  • He was cracked out tho man smh

  • David Ruffin made eyeglasses SEXY as h*LL and what can I say about my husband Eddie Kendricks besides OuuuLaLaLaaa!

  • rip indeed.

  • I miss my friends

  • Even if David Ruffin was a crach head the man could sing god bless his soul alway

  • FABULOUS!!!

  • Unbelievable.................thatz straight talent!

  • Best song out there thumbs up if you agree

  • I AM IN LOVE

  • Beautiful. Is there any more to add, then the word...Beautiful.

  • blessdagift...... the song after is "Its Growing"

  • what is the song he sings after My Girl? after Eddie went to band man & they change up the melody, can some one please tell me!!! David your the Greatest to ever take the stage, & hit the studio :)

  • I can't say enough about the Tepms and the impact on my and many other lives. I give them credit for continuing, but no other lineup beats the one that we all knew: Otis, melvin, Paul, Eddie and David. It's so sad when you think that prevetable problems were what took the lives of 3 of them. Most tragically, David's. There hasn't been anyone like thes 5 since.

  • Oh yeah Davis Eli Ruffin

  • I`d even settle for "The Imitations" at this point.

  • LOVE YOU FOREVER EDDIE!

  • This is the group David started with Eddie after David sat in at one of Eddie's performances. Not the OG temps but the nucleus is here.

  • This is the jam! It will never ever die! "My girl"

  • They would have gained the popularity of the 60's but they could have still made a very good living off performing, they had fans for life, like me I would pay easily $75

to see them all preform together, it has to be with ruffin & kendricks to me they where the heart of the band.. it's like the beatles without lennon.

  • you cant say David didnt have any fun during this performance. this guy can really good he not the like singers of today R.I.P. to real music

  • what year was this?????

  • @sandrochatlos1 1987, that went the release their only album together. It was called Ruffin and Kendricks.

  • Happy Birthday David Ruffin!

  • It looks like he's going to collapse under the weight of those glasses..

    Ruffin: Best male vocalist ever.

  • @ golfsmoore This wasn't the Temptations group. This was a concert that Eddie, Dennis, and David did during their tour as Ruffin, Kendrick, and Edwards: Ex Leads of The Temptations from the mid-80s to the early 90s. The actual Temptations (Otis and Melvin) were touring somewhere else. Otis was angry about them using "The Temptations" in the name but Eddie also had legal claim to the name as he also founded the group.

  • @icecolddude96 No this was just David and Eddie, the concert was called Dancin in the Streets. The dennis, david, & eddie, didnt start until 1989 after the were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

  • some of the Temps are missing in this.

  • @golfsmoore This is not The Temptations. It`s just David & Eddie .... along with some guys they hired to sing background. They sound like the Temps because along with Paul, David and Eddie were the heart & soul of the group.

  • look @ that nigga @ 3:25 that muthafucka is jamming

  • Comment removed

  • it not with all the temps just david and eddy

  • Really enjoyed this, wish they were still performing. It's sad the kids growing up today won't ever hear this kind of talent unless someone shows them.

  • @65beachgirl lol I'm 16 listening to this music, but ur right the reason I even know this band is because I'm a huge fan of the movie Remember the Titans

  • @MayzHughes I'm glad you do know this kind of music, It will always be the kind that is everlasting, the music today is combined with some good stuff and some only good because of studio help, and half the time it is filled with really degrading lyrics. My kids all like today's stuff and I have a few favorites today as well, but I know it does not really compete with music like the "Temptations and other great Motown classics.

  • Too bad real music like this will never happen again....too much computer enhancement and auto-tone these days. You don't have to really sing anymore...these days the record deals are all about who you know instead of "real" talent. RIP Motown...
