prince georges county fire department its the way we do things
gotta love it
to all the people that say this is crazy why dont you come here and see what we deal with we run our asses off and i drive like this all the time and i still do have due regard thats why i have never crashed
look if you want to know how we do things in this area shut up and come down and ride and learn something !!! oh yeah by the way i was driving this engine, and we were alerted to assist the first engine that only had an officer and driver ....
obviously you guys have never seen someone burn alive in a car fire, after shit like that we haul ass to every single car fire and get there by any means necessary.
Thats how are station does it...cant get in the right lane, then make your own. I give the drivers tons of credit because it's tough to drive something that big and that fast!
Weeel, traffic was pretty much stationary in both directions, so the emptiest lane was the one they used. They're an emergency crew, responding to an emergency, they have to get there as quickly as they can. Vehicle fires can be incredibly dangerous. People do not react appropriately ever when they see an emergency vehicle. Minorly contacting vehicles is bad, but they may not have felt it, and they're a wee bit busy.
I would say this meat head shouldn't be driving to any scenes no more, put just about every civillian in a vehicle in danger. I could see if there was someone in the vehicle and needed to be extricated, then you might want to rush,...even then, I wouldn't be driving that wreckless.
This video is a couple years old and no cars were hit. I have to agree that this may have been a little overboard for a car fire. Sometimes operating in the opposing lane is the only way to get through traffic. If this had been for a structure with entrapment there was nothing wrong with this response. They slowed at intersections and appeared to use due regard when working their way through traffic. Obviously you have no traffic in your response area.
At a class just a few weeks ago, the instructor said that he had the officer of this apparatus in a class he taught just a few months earlier. So, according to him, they were struck. Regardless if any vehicles were hit or not, its a great example of stupid driving. FOR A FREAKING CAR FIRE!?! SERIOUSLY!?!?!
Incase you didnt know cars have gas in them and gas can blow up, so why dont you take a few minuntes and think to yourslef, if you were there whould you like to have backup there fast incase sothing does go wrong?
Have you ever seen a car that was on fire been salvaged? No. Was this a legal response? Yes. Was the DO absolutely stupid on this one? Yes. 2nd in engine never needs to respond quite like this.
And i never said that THIS response was ok i just asked what you would be thinking if you were the 1st due so you really didnt have to argue about it and you shouldnt have commented back to it and i am sure if the drive did something that the chief thought was wrong he would have done something an look at the dates it was 2 years ago.
The most that is going to blow up on a car fire is the tires. And..you shouldnt need more than 500 gallons to put out a car fire, so the backup doesnt drive like this
yea...thats exactly right....i don't even know where this video was taken and frankly could care less. what happened happened, nobody was killed, and bitching about it over the internet 2 years later isn't going to fix it.
@fleamarketfan - I know this is old, but seriously, get your ears cleaned. He either said "They're in the middle of the road", referring to the cars that wouldn't move, or "It's in the middle of the road", referring to the car that just happened to be on fire in the distance... Nothing about hitting is seen or heard of in this video. This is the only video I've seen where people have discussed the possibility of crashing or death regarding this rig.
Maybe time for an evoc re-cert eh? What a bunch of morons. Morons like that put the woowoos on and think they can drive like nascar drivers. Stupid morons. A car fire even. Any vehicle now a days will result in a total right off for an insurance company... so why hurry and risk hurting or even killing someone.
Hey, I was in the blue car he passed, masturbating profusely!!

souderico 3 years ago
yeah nobody was killed, but they easily could have killed ppl; u even hear them saying "oh we hit another one."
a) a car fire w/ nobody in it is no more of a true emergency than a trash fire
b) the driver's job is to get the crew there and back w/o any injuries to them or others
c) it was 2nd due and the fire was pretty much under control upon arrival

It sounded like he said "In the middle of the road". I can't find him saying anything about hitting anything.
