@MrCrossEmUp No, no, no. You need at least 20 gallons per adult piranha. They also like to be kept in groups of like 3 or 4. I had 3 in a 40 gallon tank, but the 2 biggest ones ate the little piranha after about a month of having them in there. The 2 big ones have lived happily in my 40 gallon for about 6 months now.

@MrCrossEmUp You cannot keep healthy piranhas in those small tanks for long. Get something bigger. You might be able to get away with a 29 gallon for a little bit. Piranhas grow about 1 inch per month during their 7 or 8 months. You either need to get a bigger tank for your piranha or give it away and replace it with something more suitable for your 5 gallon. I'm sorry, man. There's no way around this.

@MrChannelisland no this is a horrible setup not even big enough for a goldfish let alone piranhas. piranhas are very messy and need to be in packs of 7 for the best results to lower cannibalism. then you are going to need a 75-100 gallon tank a canister filter, lighting, plants, drift wood, and a nice heater. each red belly can get up to like 6-7 inches so a 6.6 gallon will probably deform the growth and kill your piranhas very quickly

Piranhas are not carnivores.. they are omnivores. For complete nutrition they shouldnt be restricted to only meat

Red belly piranhas are shoaling fish, to be healthy they should be shoaled with at least 6 total piranha

They have warmer tempature requirments. NOT 72-76.. They need 76-82.

Piranhas need plenty of oxygen and surface movement.

20 Gallons of water per fish is reccomended in your tank. 6 Piranhas = 120 gallons
