okay so i have a two year contract with verizon for the droid eris...could i upgrade to the motorola or do i have to wait two years, and how much would it cost to upgrade?

@xxm00laxx depends. if you're in your 30 days, eat the $35 restocking fee and get the Droid.

if not, you're looking at Full Retail (570$) or Certified Pre-Owned (290$) to get the device. CPO's are a decent deal, as they're usually devices returned in the first 30 days for reasons like "i wanted a different color." or "i didnt like the physical keyboard" or "im a retard who cant work the phone". etc.

@StedySniper not QUITE how it works. The BOGO only works if you have 2 eligible upgrades. they don't just hand you a free phone. You can do that, than cancel the line after 30 days, and pay a 350$ ETF though! than sell the phone, and only pay 400$ for a 500$ phone.

Pros: --FAST internet browser --20,000 + apps in the Android Market, growing by the DAY --65% of them are free. --Open Development Community. Android is truely open. --Total Google Intergration (Gmail, GDocs, Google Calender, Google Voice) --Insanely fast processor, overclocked to 1.3 ghz. -- Customizable. No two Droids sold look alike once you get your hands on it. --the list goes on. Cons: ..it's ugly. not gonna lie there. but like the ads say, your smartphone doesnt NEED to be pretty.

that's really the only con. It's not the prettiest phone on the market, by any means- but a smartphone needs to FUNCTION first and foremost.

The Android Marketplace. should be an icon on your Android phone that says "MARKET". You need to have a gmail account set up on your phone, as well as credit card information for any PAID apps.

T-Mobile customers now are offered carrier billing, where it will just show up on your TMo bill.

20,000 apps in the Android Market, and about 65% of them are free. Odds are, there will be a free one that does what you need it to do.

I like the eris too. Its a very nice phone. I think the droid has a better camera and longer battery life than the eris. But the eris is sleeker and has a nice virtual keyboard as well. If money is an issue..get the eris. If not, go full boar and get the droid

i haven't check out Swype for the Droid / Milestone. I have played with it on the Samsung Omnia II (Verizon), and I wasn't a fan of it. it just seems so unnessecary and pointless-kind of like the SureType keyboard on a Blackberry Pearl-totally usesless and counter productive.

It starts @ 70 per month. that gives 450 minutes, unlimited nights/weekends anf unlimited data. 90 for that plus unlimited texting. i pay about 160 for three phones with unlimited txt. 1 droid, 1 eris amd a smsng intensity

your Droid should of been flashed by the store associates (assuming you got it from Corporate Verizon) with the latest firmware (2.0.1), if not-than you should recieve an automatic update notice any minute now.

and as far as the apps i have, just pull them from the Android Market. The Droid is 1000% customizable, and I havent seen 2 of them come in looking the same, which is whats AWESOME about it.

the HTC Hero, MyTouch3G, Droid Eris, Motorola DROID, and Samsung Moment are all expected to be updated to Android 2.1 by Feb 2010.

in this video im using the old version of beautiful widgets. HTC issued LevelUpStudios a Cease and Desist, because it looks to similar to their Sense UI interface. They put out an update that changes the way it looks, so they could avoid being sued.

unfortuantly, unless someone has the APK file, there is no way to go back.

Good info, bro. Getting this phone and getting that beautiful widgets app. So can you change the clock and Verizon logo on the lock screen to be centered like before the update came through? It looks weird liek it is now.

i'm sure if you Root (unlock) the phone, you can play with the roms and put whatever you want..but natively-not that I'm seeing. I will update if i find a way to recenter it.

it does look weird..but the way the VZW logo is right aligned, and the time is left aligned...makes it kinda balance out a bit..i guess.
