I think you're exactly right. The appropriate counter to cruelty and hatred is to set in motion acts of kindness. Cast positive ripples into the world and see what comes of them.
Medicine in the US may be ready for a refocusing. It's become too much centered on money. I hear individual stories of doctors who are struggling to heed the original call of medicine, to help those in need, and am filled with hope.
Altogether a wonderfully sane and positive response.
