He's never shown a good jab in any of his fights except the Margarito fight which would mislead you to believe that he just doesn't have one. De La Hoya has a very good jab! Shane beat him twice.
@alphonsob1 the pad work doesn't hit back it's easy to throw a jab because your not worried about being countered or hit back when they pull counter over it. it's like if I told you to hit a heavy bag you'd hit it without concern of being hit back. Much like a RJJ, when you can control distance with speed it creates bad habits. His losses to Wink, Forrest, Cotto and Floyd have a common style. To be honest, Shane has only beaten 2 top fighters in their prime.. De La Hoya (who you just said isn't that great so I guess he doesn't count) and Margarito. If you can do three things in boxing, you will never get hit. 1.head movement, 2.foot work. 3.hand position. floyd is excellent at all three of them and if you watch his fights,you will see that he is not just "running". i personally find it really fascinating to watch his footwork. Floyd is not a stalker, he likes his opponents to come to him so Floyd can pinpoint his accurate single shots. Keep moving in and out and laterally, and Mayweather won't have time to set and zero in. Also, you must hit Floyd with fast combinations mid-ring, before he goes into the defensive shoulder roll. A bout between two brilliant boxers.

He's never shown a good jab in any of his fights except the Margarito fight which would mislead you to believe that he just doesn't have one. But the mittwork indicates that he's had one and just doesn't throw it with any certainty or purpose other than a setup for the right hand. As for him facing guys w/ a good jab , you're partly wrong. De La Hoya has a very good jab! Shane beat him twice.

@alphonsob1 the pad work doesn't hit back it's easy to throw a jab because your not worried about being countered or hit back when they pull counter over it. it's like if I told you to hit a heavy bag you'd hit it without concern of being hit back. The Margarito fight he looked like he had one because he has no head movement . and the second Oscar fight he lost that one . a boxer with a good jab beats Mosley he only has 1 game plan "land a big shot" if he can't he mentally brakes down "gives up"

Much like a RJJ, when you can control distance with speed it creates bad habits. His losses to Wink, Forrest, Cotto and Floyd have a common style. And Boxers give him trouble because of their movement and ability to counter his speed with footwork and counter punching. You don't become as successful as he has been hoping to land 1 shot. To be honest, Shane has only beaten 2 top fighters in their prime.. De La Hoya (who you just said isn't that great so I guess he doesn't count) and Margarito. He lost to Forrest twice, Wright, and Cotto.. and went life and death with Mayorga.. whom DLH destroyed. Shane is good for Boxing, but, as far as great.. he's lost to 95% of the top fighters he's fought. He'll lose to Floyd too...

If you can do three things in boxing, you will never get hit. 1.head movement, 2.foot work. 3.hand position. floyd is excellent at all three of them and if you watch his fights,you will see that he is not just "running". i personally find it really fascinating to watch his footwork. Mosley is the most talented fighter Floyd has ever faced. Shane has to use the entire ring, stick and then move out of range. Floyd is not a stalker, he likes his opponents to come to him so Floyd can pinpoint his accurate single shots. Keep moving in and out and laterally, and Mayweather won't have time to set and zero in. Also, you must hit Floyd with fast combinations mid-ring, before he goes into the defensive shoulder roll. A bout between two brilliant boxers.

I think the main Reason Floyd Mayweather came back to Boxing is because he still has something to prove, epically to people like you who probably won't be satisfied if he beat Godzilla.
