i think its a mixture of both. he definitely had some great skills in the ring, but im sure the fact that tyson was such an imposing figure had a significant affect on his opponent's mental game, which is why he was able to straight-up bully a lot of them. once people stopped being scared of him, it took a some edge off his game. but that tends to be part of the game when it comes to the bad asses of combat sports (see: wanderlei silva)
