I just got a game gear with carrying case, battery pack, super wide gear, 6 games including this one, ac adaptor all in good shape yesterday. I was playing this last night and when this theme started playing i got chills down my spine
Ok... time to open up my game gear and replace the caps. :D
Fav theme from this game is the theme of the boss battle from the sunset park with a close 2nd of the final theme after you beat the game (a mix of all the themes from the game)
Even in an 8-bit game such as this, it is amazing how much detail they can implement into the overall level design; such as the various enemies, objects and innovative architecture. The musical soundtrack and the atmosphere seem to incorporate together very smoothly, which contributes to the effect of nostalgia felt while playing this game.
Heh, thanks. I will admit to using them for the Turquoise Hill playthrough, but it was that video that encouraged me to stop using them, since I kept reverting after small mistakes, which only frustrated me, convincing me record this in one go.
Oh man, the memories. I have the Japanese release of this game (titled Sonic & Tails 2) in cartridge form, and I hope it still works.
Sunset Park III was awesome and hard, and completely new and fitting for the Sonic Series (Running atop a mechanized train to smash its head = AWESOME).
I always wished for a more, how shall I say it, ROCKING arrange of it with stronger bass output and more impressive instrumentation.
I just got the Sonic Gems Collection for the GCN in the mail recently and man does Sunset Park Act's 1 & 2 themes take me back to the good old days of my childhood. fucking love and miss this shit. ahh the sweet memories of being little and 8-bit gaming...
When I first played this zone, I thought the BGM was a bit too upbeat for the artwork, but it grew on me. Now it's one of my favorite pieces from the game.
@razer1140 that's an interesting take. I always loved it and never questioned the pace because I figured tehy were getting me hype that i was on a train. TBH tho, there really isnt a whole lot going on, and the music changes for the boss when there is actually action.
I remember this stage before my game gear broke T_T
I used to run it as far forward as I could go, never slowing down. I loved the music. While the game is far from my favorite, that particular piece has not once left my mind, and is probably my favorite of any I've heard in any sonic game.
I never understood why they would use what is arguably the best and most epic piece of music (vastly superior to the rest of the game's score) for such a short piece of the game, never to be heard again. I was, and still am, always disappointed when it flips back to the simple boss music upon actually reaching the front of the train.
The Train Act was definitely unique for having it's very own BGM as well as having a lack of a title card. It worked quite well too, since the idea of an auto-scrolling stage wasn't used that often in Sonic titles.
I liked the idea of such a transitiion, especially the lack of a title card. It's like "I finished the act, now onto the bo--what the?" *runs into enemy and jumps blindly into pit*
Actually, I welcome any criticism as long as it is constructive. I should try to make more of an effort to avoid hits so I don't have to have to edit everything out. Honestly, I'm not too proud of this runthrough, it's sloppy and I wanted to just get it over with.
You really suck at this game don't you? You skipped the emerald stages you didn't keep your rings and you died too easily. This is one of my favorite games and the music on that last stage is AWSOME! In fact I recorded that stage music into a wav file and eventually made onto an MP3 file.
I'm garbage with an emulator and the laptop I recorded this with isn't the most responsive, giving way to many stupid mistakes. I should really practice a stage beforehand before making an ass of myself like I did here.
He apologized later, and either way, I acknowledged how I was not happy with this playthrough whatsoever and that I welcome comments that explain more than the incredibly constructive "you suck" comments I usually get.
Yeah this is the best GG game there is I've always had it on sonic gems collection and I just replayed it but I did it as Tails because I wanted a quick easy replay and will probably do sonic again soon too I also just beat sonic CD again! Good Games!!
Triple Trouble and CD don't seem to get the recognition they deserve when I look at people's opinions. Awesome games for systems that failed like they did.
This music isn't even 8-bit sounding. It's like 6-bit.

Yeah, the Act 3 theme is a bit overrated. I always just liked the theme from the zone itself.

Indeed, and as noc38mustang commented a few weeks ago, it is a shame that it was only used for such a short segment.

how can we show our gameplay online?
soniario12 2 years ago
Well, I use an emulator and screen recording software for recording and Windows Movie Maker for any simple edits.
Emulators are your choice, (I used Fusion here), and I recommend Camstudio (freeware) for recording.
