  • I support the theory that to be able to play in such speed, Rick Wakeman dominates the ZA WARUDO technique.

  • he's damn fast.

  • Great playing ... on terrible instruments.

  • i respect everyone, music is the best thing in the world... my only opinion is that progressive most of the time becomes pretentious

  • @zaurtrien

pretentious my ass. You just don't get it.

  • @green3825 great argument

  • Ok, 4:37 - 4:40...Now, I'm going to bed...

Anyone wants to buy my keyboard?

  • omg I like this!! YEAAH

  • Amazing. How many fingers has he got? o_0

  • three in one: an amazing player, a brilliant composer and a striking "on stage" image, for that reason he is a legend among the keyboard players of all time.

  • OK,,correction date,,,this show from 1990

  • Richard Christopher Wakeman A.K.A. Rick Wakeman was born 18 may,1949 in Perivale London U.K. is an English Keyboard player, composer and songwriter. He is known for being the keyboardist for progressive rock band YES. This song " Catherine Parr including in his debut and one of his best "Six Wives Of Henry VIII" from 1973. This show is from 1993.

  • @metalrock90 1990 in Nottingham Studios.

  • I'd like to know what song the middle solo came from. It wasn't on the album... :(

  • @EragonFiresword It's just what Rick came up with in the late 1980s to develop Catherine Parr further. He did it earlier in An Evening of Yes Music Plus 1989.

  • lo mejor del mundo Rick Wakeman

  • Does this super fast part where he has this flute sound actually have an own name? Is it another song maybe?

  • too good for that guy i dont know were he lives i would stand every fu**ing day in front of his door with shining eyes asking him for lessons damn!

    R.K.

  • Wakeman rocks. His musical abilities are quite up to Parr.

  • Saw him twice on this tour - brilliant!

  • que quieren que les diga que ya no se haya dicho de este virtuoso de los teclados

  • Another good nickname would be: "Slow Hand"

    Already taken?

    By another Englishman?

Are all Brits this Rocking Fast?

  • Rock Wakeman would be a fitting nickname, actually.

  • No, some Polish typewriters are faster...

KIDDING of course! But I think that his speed sometimes... I mean, his music is so beautiful, but maybe some of it's nuances can be missed if you focus too much on this incredible speed...

  • He looks like chuck norris :O

Lol oh well, actually chuck norris looks like Rock Wakeman

  • -.- Rick*

  • this is from the live on ITV 1991...course i have whole show ...never saw rick live though...but hes put out more solo albums then he did with yes ...this particular one on here is just unbelieveable ..i love the drumming and bass line as well ...camera close-ups ....my only question is .....where does a guy like this go get taught ....whos his teacher lol

  • His teacher is God... or Beethoven.

  • i have always been a Emerson fan and have only heard Wakeman trough Yes, but i have to say he's own things is amazing! this is beyond words!!! would it not be legendary if Wakeman and Emerson did something together?

  • It would be like christmas all over again!

  • GRANDIOSO RICARDITO WAKEMAN !!!!

  • brawo!!!!!!!!

  • Simply superb!

  • I see he liked the D-50 so much that he got two of it.

  • eat that jordan rudess xD

  • Rudess love to eat that! Wakeman is for sure one of his idol!

  • @stevelp646 couldn't agree with you more!!! :-D

  • @stevelp646

Makes it easy to see why any other keyboard players for Yes were merely placeholders while they awaited Rick's return.

  • digital. Prefer 70's

  • Thats because he is God!

  • Watch out jknyt (Jiknit?) Dave will get yah!!!!

  • Is there a CD of this??

  • sure! six wives of henry VIII

  • Thanks! But I mean a CD of this very live performance?

  • @ToccodelDestino

    Yes it is

  • WOOOOOW.

This is not only technique. SUPERB!

  • After watching this video, my religion is Wakemanism.

  • Please don't crap on RW by putting his name with religion in the same sentence. Thank you

  • @MthsKrt hey !!! :-P me too !!!

  • @MthsKrt lo mejor del mundo

  • @MthsKrt

    Wakemanists rejoice!!!

  • Wakeman Rules!

  • the song at 3:15...is that still catherine parr? or what's the name of it?

  • It's all Catharina Parr, just the solo ( 2:20 - 4:10) an extra... a 'desert' for fans. The whole version is simply perfect. Rick at his freaking best!

  • ...wonderful song...wonderful solo...all wonderful!!!

  • amazing!!!!

    he its a fucking genious!

  • Classic. Briliant.

  • IMPRESIONANTE y MARAVILLOSO !!!!

  • I wish I could play like him! He is a god!

  • If you want to play like him, you might want to practice.....

for about the next twenty years.

  • I sure wish I could make it to London for that show.

I sure would be great if he'd do a tour playing No Earthly Connection all the way through too.

    (call me a dreamer :-) )

  • You've all got the chance to see him now. In London performing all of Henry VIII for the first time. With band, orchestra and choir. Can't wait for May 1.

  • I am going to this show. Couldn't possibly let a once in a life time experience pass me by! Hope you have a great time

  • Both shows were awesome. CDs were available right after each show and it was recorded for DVD as well. Looking forward!

  • I WANT HIS FINGERS!!! (not his fingers cut off, but a copy of his fingers glued to my hands :P)

  • what album is this on? what year was this video recorded?

  • The Six Wives of Henry VIII. Don't know about this video but the album was released in 1972.

Over the years many critics regarded it as 'controversial'. To me, it's one of the best albums of all freaking time...

To me, Wakeman and Emerson are two brilliant musiacians who, like nobody else, mixed rock with classic music. Sadly, like many other great musicians, if not YouTube, they'll be forgotten.

  • But here, from 2.20 it differs from the original. And I wish it WAS in the album. This guy is just amazing, so veritile...

  • If you've never seen Wakeman in concert he's amazing! I had front row seats for Yes in 1982 in Boston and I consider it one of the high points of my life.

  • You're one of the 'lucky ones', plushbabs... I mean, in Poland, back than, we were happy to get Locomotive GT (a Hungarian band, act. quite good). To me, Wakeman and Emerson are 'the MEN"! The latter did a great job of 'advirtizing' classical music', and Rick... He CREATED so much great stuff that should be put on the same shelf as the best classical composers... Prog rock is just so... 'underestimated' would be an understatement.

  • Act. the word I was looking for was popularizing, talking about Keith Emerson.

Oh, I love the way he abuses his poor keyboard Stabbing with a knife! Yeaaaah! LOL. Once you get to like it, you'll never get tired of it, that's for sure.

  • Nice, I saw them at Mohegan Sun (Connecticut) in 2004, it was amazing, best performance of Ritual they've ever done (that I've heard)

  • OMFG!....he is so amazing!!!!!

My favorite part is from 2.20min forward.....sick skillz!!

  • TUTORIAL??? N E 1

  • Guaaaaauuuuu !!! Excelentes el sonido y la interpretación

  • DVD also with the same name, you could also get it in a other DVD called "The Anthology" wich include some clips from this concert, some classical piano pieces with slideshows of Roger Dean.

This clip is taken from the Anthology DVD.

GO! RICK WAKEMAN YOU OWN EVERYBODY....!

  • I found the Anthology DVD, thanks! I'm ordering today.

    -j
