  • HATE the font they used.

  • michael ass-bender

  • Michael Fassbender is so fucking hot i cant stand it...

  • More humour in the book than the film. There was no portrayal of village/town life in the film. In the book an amusing moment that came out of a potentially devastating one was when Jane was in the local ale-house inquiring about the wherabouts of Rochester. The patron informed Jane, in the middle of a general conversation, that the "Lord of the manor" (or words to this effect) had passed away. Of course, it was Rochester's father he meant. A moment for a smiling Jane that the film missed.

  • The film was good. If you did not know the book the beginning of the film, however, could leave a person not appreciating the potentially calamitous position of Jane. One of the memorable bits in the book is of Jane, having run away from Rochester, careering from house to house looking for something to eat, never mind shelter. She literally knew nobody else. The film running time could have been made even longer to portray this predicament better. I would have watched it for 3 hours.

  • 2006 is much better and let me just say, if you hadn't of read the book you'd of thought this a horror movie ha ha, but this version is good too, like really good, only I like 2006 better:)

  • Mr Rochester Is Too Fucking Sexy.. :D

  • ugh he is so yummy.

  • A beautiful movie, but if you're a purist in regards to the novel, not necessarily what you're looking for...

  • @littlespider9 you definitely answered my question. it does look well put together, but the the complex setup to the original novel is a must for me.

  • God I would love to live in that era. Gentleman riding horses, woman demure and ladylike and beauty and poetry everywhere!

  • The Book Is 100 Percent Better !

  • "How do you prevent going to Hell?" Jane responds, "Stay healthy and avoid death."

  • pretty good movie

  • Conform cartii .. actorii principali ar trebui sa fie mai uriti! .. :)

  • ai dreptate! mereu totusi in filme actorii arata mai bine!

  • great movie! highly recommended

  • I adore it...fine entertainment at its best

  • I've seen the movie on a rainy Sunday without ever having read the book and I was very impressed.

  • I just saw this movie and I remember commenting on the trailer months ago saying "why does this look like a horror movie?" After the movie though, my opinion is completely different. Brilliantly done and the shots of Thornfield (a.k.a Haddon Hall :) ) were gorgeous. Brilliant movie :)

  • When my brother say the trailer he was like, "What the heck, this is freaking Jane Eyre!" They make it feel like some kind of horror movie, but they say this one is the least Gothic of all the movie versions. I still like the trailer though.

  • 1:32, "I'M ACTING!!!"

  • Comment removed

  • im 13 years old, is it appropriate and do you think i'll enjoy it?!!!

  • @annastar101 I read the book when I was 13 and fell in love with it. (It's a little silly, really, but fun.) I haven't seen this movie yet but it looks good. I like the cast.

  • @stephantom i plan to read it this year and i'm 13 looks intresting i'm reading wuthering heights now and luv it!!!

  • @annastar101 Oh, yeah. Totally appropriate! This trailer actually makes it seem a LOT scarier and darker than it actually is. The fact that I don't know you limits my ability to tell you if you'd enjoy it, but I'd say rent it and watch it to see. It's a classic, so it never hurts to try. :)

  • @annastar101 yes, it's not scary. It's a thriller/romance.

  • 1:03 freak me out !

  • I've known people that evil. Four in my own life that would be a terror in charge of a prison. Would enjoy the power of absolute power to hurt and keep on hurting. I wish I could publish thier names right here. It makes me hate this story a little. I identify only too much with her, except she came out stronger. Was she ever happy?

  • Great movie!

  • I saw the film today..TOO DARK all the scenes were too dark, so dark couldn't see the colours or anything, would not recommend it. Watch the video if you don't believe it...........Waste of money.

  • The best movie in the world i saw it . it was the best movie ever i am so going to get it on dvd my mum said she use to read it a lot jane eyre.

  • Random Cockroach at 1:47 WTH?

  • @pbarnicles It adds drama! lol!

  • Are they kidding?

Mr. Rochester looks sexy as hell!!!!

Although, I like the older version of the movie better....

  • @Lusnack but maybe at this time he would not have been :) how ever i loved the movie and i want to see the older version too! maybe all of them ;)

  • From all the adaptations I've seen, I still prefer the one from BBC, with Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens.

  • This looks utterly crap. Cast does not suit, starting with the choice of Brocklehurst and this is a misleading trailer for what actually happens in the wonderful story!

I suppose, particularly, no Mr Rochester will compare to how he is in my imagination :). William Hurt does the best job.

  • @IfTheSunRefusd2Shine lol I wish they gave this part to Alan Rickman, mmmm... Hey, a girl can dream, can she? ))

  • THE BEST ADAPTATION WAS THE 2006 BBC ADAPTATION! Absolutely stunning and so true to everything the book is about! especially the characters! its here on youtube people so i suggest seriously giving it a go.

  • @rocketgirl018 True that :) I think the cast for the 2006 was more fitting than this one. The characters seem a bit too appealing in this adaption, when Rochester is supposed to be old and ugly and Jane plain looking. Mia and Jamie do fit the bill for both of them but not exactly- while the BBC version of Jane Eyre captured their characters(in my mind) perfectly, especially with Ruth Wilson's portrayl.

But this is a good film nevertheless. Loved the acting by Mia Wasikowska :D She's very good.

  • @Aupas Really? In all fairness I haven't actually seen this film...I just jumped the gun with that comment, couldn't help it...credit given where credits due and all that. But i'll defo check it out :D

  • @rocketgirl018 In what way do you think the 2006 version stayed true to the book? (This is a genuine question, not an attempt to troll). Rochester (in my opinion) was overly gentle and affectionate, with very little of the violent temprement from the book; Jane was alright, but she wasn't plain at all: she has very striking features, and most of the dialogue and sometimes even the plot was invented beyond regonition. The best on I've seen is without a doubt the 1983 version with Timothy Dalton!

  • @scmangnall so agree with you on both 2006 and 1983 versions! Hey, there are still some people left in this world who think like me, yippee! ))

  • @VegaVelecka I'm glad to hear it. That makes two of us at least :)

  • MAGNETO!

  • Why, oh why, was the ending so abbreviated? I saw the movie in April and again in June. My overall impression is very favorable. Unfortunately, I do believe the ending was rather abrupt. Wonder if there is more in the Director's Cut?

  • I read the book and watched the film. I did this in my GCSE English Class and I loved it from the very beginning.

  • I know St. John isn't my favorite character in the book, mainly because he's so cold hearted, and it has always struck me as odd that a man so antagonistic towards love and passion would devote his life to god.. a measured stamp of boots, to be sure!

In this adaption of the movie, he's just unbearable. I'm sorry to say I disliked him from the first moment.

  • Anybody know when this coming out in Australia? There is only so many times you can read the book. Plus Michael looks delicious in this! :D

  • I wanna see this so badly... ! I'm tired of waiting for its release in France...

  • omg jaime bell is in it yayyyyyy...

  • i wanna see this movie so badly!!!!

i wonder if this will be released here in the philippines... :(

  • @acinomgirl I want it to come to Mexico!!

  • saw this movie and i have got to say that i was surprised , trailers can be deceiving

i have literally seen every single jane eyre adaptation that is out there and this movie ranks easily as one of the top five

like many i had some worries about the main actress but mia actually brought some real emotional depth to the film, particularly in the parting scene with rochester

    speaking of rochester, gorgeous

stays truthful to the book, gorgeous, cinematography, one of the best musical scores ever!

  • Does somebody know, when it is going to be in the swiss cinemas?

Thank you for answer me !

  • When she says he seems the most phantomlike and he response "Jane...", I swear his eyes go entirely black.

    EERIE.

  • @thefowles1 It was a scene they cut, he is supposed to be blind there

  • I want to know when this will come out onto dvd!

  • haha, possibly the handsome-ist Rochester ever in history of Jane Eyre movies :P

  • Im trying to read the book and am enjoying it very much, the movie was really good and I cant wait untill it comes out on dvd

  • And Mr. Rochester is attractive...

  • Is anyone else thinking "Jane is hot"?

  • @KPatthamas Nope.

  • @KPatthamas Uhh, no.

  • @Deafturtle911 lol ok as in more attractive then what I imagined from the book... I imagined her from the book to look rather odd, and not at all slightly attractive.

  • @KPatthamas no thats what the expression plane Jane comes from...duh

  • Goblin's "Suspiria" at 0:25

  • Mia Wasikowska *and* Michael Fassbender? :3

  • @JavidOnd You're killing me. I love Pride and Prejudice too, though for much different reasons. Pride and Prejudice is hilarious! I recommend you re-read that one lol.

  • This will either be very good, or very bad.

  • For anyone who thinks that the movie is "trying to make Jane Eyre into a horror movie," re-read the book. It's got plenty of horror value; it's the style of writing that made you overlook it.

  • @briecheese100 Absolutely. People who associate it with slow, dry, boring "classics" like Pride & Prejudice either never read it, or have forgotten how dark and morbid it really is.

  • @JavidOnd Pride and Prejudice being slow, dry and boring? I respect your opinion but I have to disagree; it's one of the best books I've personally ever read.

  • I had to read this book for english class, and somehow it wasn't as exciting as this 2 minute trailer.

  • Wow!!!! imagine a horror movie adaptation of Jane Eyre. I would have never thought of that. Who knows? we might soon see a Wes Craven adaptation of Oliver Twist.

    "i want some more" lol.

  • MICHAEL FASSBENDER IS FINE AS FUCK.

  • i like the 2006 one ^-^ but i haven't seen the 1996 one. o.O i don't understand why there are so many @.@

  • @RAWRizAmonster One of the reasons it's made so often is that, relatively, for a period film, it's cheap to make. It requires a only a rather small cast and a desolate landscape. Plus it's a corking good story.

I saw it last night, I loved it. The filmakers did a smashingly good job and the cast was superb.

  • @bluesox4113 ooo you saw the new one? =o And you thought it was good? *squint* On the other jane eyre movies on youtube there are quite a few comments from those who've read the book that say they leave out alot of her childhood, did they do that with the new one? Or did they add some events that weren't in the others o.O

  • It is like they are trying to make Jane Eyre look like a horror movie. I liked the one they made in 1996.

  • AMAZING BOOK, im 13 and I finished it about 2 weeks ago, before i knew they were making a movie about it. Now I really want to see the movie, I hope they dont ruin it though:(

  • It was a good artful version of Jane Eyre :)

  • LOVED THE BOOK!!!!!!!!!! CAN'T WAIT FOR THE MOVIE! :D

  • I Like The Vervison with William Hurt and Anna Paquin.

  • Wuthering Heights was a really WONDERFUL book, but all the movies suck....Jane Eyre is also another great story, these isters were great writers...the movie looks good...if only they could do a good movie about wuthering heights..

  • sadly this looks 10x better then the book XD

  • Do you know when the movie is arriving in France?

  • First I am going to have to re-read Jane Eyre. And Second, idk if I'll like it as much as the original BBC version. This version seems to go a little off from the book, but it's hard to tell from the trailer. I'm hoping I can see it soon.

  • I saw the movie: it was amazing!!! The only issue I had with it was that a few scenes were cut out to fit the hollywood screen (time limit). I honestly hope that they release the Director's Cut because they must have cut out 15 to 30 minutes of the movie for the sake of a time limit. They left out the scene when Rochester rides out after her, when Jane tells him about the tearing of her bridal veil, etc. Like this if you want the Director's Cut to be put out on DVD..maybe we can get it then...

  • @ImSoooSorryforU - just saw the movie and completely agree! I counted at least 5 scenes in this trailer that weren't actually in the movie. Director's Cut! Director's Cut!

  • @ImSoooSorryforU - just saw the movie and completely agree! I counted at least 5 scenes in this trailer that weren't actually in the movie. Director's Cut! Director's Cut!

  • @ImSoooSorryforU is the love well done ? cos usually im a little disapointed :P xept fot the bbc version :P

  • @ImSoooSorryforU Well I'm not gay, but I am a guy, I read the book, and saw a few versions of the movie. I hope that there will be a directors cut.

  • @ImSoooSorryforU And I found out there is a nude picture. Is it a painting that isn't sexual? Because I would never hear the end of it from my mom.

  • *Victorian Fangirl Swoon*

  • @Marshmally823 more like *Michael Fassbender Swoon!!!*

  • Can't wait.to see IT.. ....M.F. seems to be perfect Rochester and atmosphere just right there like in Wuthering Heights by Peter Cosminsky :))0

  • The casting looks perfect. Can't wait to see it!

  • Dear Focus Features: Please don't fuck this one up. Thanks.

  • Mia is so beautiful.

  • HNNNG FASSBENDER WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME

  • is the book completely different from the movie?? or are they somewhat the same?

  • ‹(•¿•)›¨¯¯¨¨˜"ª¤++++++++++++++++++++¤ª"˜¨¨¯¯¨‹(•¿•)›

  • Can I like this 100 times? One of my top ten books ever.

  • Looks wonderful, will be looking for it on DVD when it's available.

  • another version! God I dont get tired of it. Although Im not sure its gonna be that good....

  • is it scary, romantic, or idk what else

  • whooooa - this looks so cool! i can't really tell though - is this a romance or like a fantasy? or both?

anyway it looks really good! :D

  • @SniperLi0n You should read the classic book before ever attempting to watch the movie.

  • @SniperLi0n Jane Eyre is a classic novel by Charlotte Bronte. It's a romance technically, but so much more than that too. No fantasy, Thank God. I'd recommend reading the book before watching this, if you can.

  • I never thought of this, but she is actually a really good actress.

  • the font looks so cheap.

  • Oh my goodness, I just read the book... this will turn out to be a rather murderous rendition I fear. Sex scene? Come on...

  • @oneofmetwo

    i saw the film.

its actually not that gothic. and there is no sex.

  • @Bangerchick613 excellent! I may see this movie after all! I did like the book, and I'm interested to see how they put the characters together, what interpretation they will use for Mr. Rochester.

  • Love this book will have to see this movie

  • It is being played in New York and LA in a total of four theaters nationwide. Lucky me, I live in New York, but it was a nightmare trying to see it Saturday because it was sold out at both theaters Saturday evening. I did see it today and truly it was masterful, beautiful and sexy. No lies, no jokes, no exaggeration .

  • I hate this book

  • @clingo316 If you hate the book then you may love this movie, because it looks much more intense than the book even came close to being.

  • @clingo316 then you might like this movie, because the book concentrated more on reading into characters than on the actual drama that occurred.

  • how do you find out what cities this is being played in?

the trailer was played before numerous movies in my area however I can't find any theaters playing it!

  • @violinhero62 Go to the film's official site (Focus Features) and click 'Find Theatres.' I tried to post the direct link, but YouTube is being annoying.

  • I'd regrettably never actually read Jane Eyre, so I just started reading it, and now I find out they're making a new movie version!! From the beginning (which I've read) to the point where she is at the school it actually seems like it's very true to the book... that would be refreshing :)

  • Lol I JUST finished reading this book yesterday and now I find out there is a movie?I MUST SEE

  • youtube.com/watch?v=jNAGz7WdGIU

  • =NsX4jFjUtg8 its a realy funny skit

  • Dude, the only reason I'd want to see it is cause "The Weather People" is used in the trailer. : )

  • Other than the Goblins music, does anyone know what pieces are used in this trailer?

  • I just watched Jane Eyre for the first time on netfliz and loved it and now im reading the book. I think this new movie looks very dramatic but it looks good none the lease

  • Another one?

  • Jane eyre is based on a true story!

  • Does anyone know which theaters it is playing in? I am NYC and I have been looking forever.

  • Looks fantastic!

  • I really wish that some of these whining, unimaginable fans of the 2006 version would just shut up, and watch the trailer. Stop comparing and dissecting everything about this version with 2006's or the ones before that. This is a new adaptation key word being NEW!! You people act like your opinions matter Hello they've been cast because they were seen as the best fit for the roles. Michael & Mia both look great and are wonderful actors.Bronte would be proud of this Gothic version and the actors.

  • thats the girl from alice and wonderland right?

  • @seeyaspacecowboy Yep :)

  • @seeyaspacecowboy yeah mia wasikowska.

  • Yes! I've gotta see this, even if it turns out to be an 'ehh' list film. :)

  • i can't freaking wait!

  • Upon re-reading the source material, its apparent every cinematic version has changed the tones and themes of the story slightly. Some make him more brutish, some more vulnerable. I think the thing is to let it be a different story, not make it alike the novel, as it just couldn't be.

  • Anyone else really distracted by the font used for this trailer?

  • @katoak192 yes! I noticed that, Century Gothic I think? :)

  • @katoak192 Century Gothic? That's my favorite font face so it's not an issue to me.

  • @katoak192 a font i might guess as "Futura" a modern slightly bold type text used for a movie that takes place obviously in a very "victorian era-ish" time. It really sticks out like a sore thumb. but regardless, this movie looks quite interesting. a must see.

  • It's about the most faithless adaptation out there, but I will always love Orson Welles as Rochester. He's the standard I measure all the others by.

  • the other Jane Eyre wasn't good enough for everyone? i like that one...

  • Nobody beats Toby Stephens as Mr. Rochester... so I'm a bit disappointed with the Rochester they've chosen here. (He doesn't look grim or turbulent at ALL) And from the trailer, I'm not so sure about Mia as Jane, either. She doesn't seem passionate enough. Still, I might watch this, if only for Judi Dench.

  • i heard about jane eyre by watching pheanus and pherb lol

  • Oh god, this looks... iffy. I'm not impressed with how she spoke the "poor, obscure, plain, and little" line. Supposed to be way more passionate than that. But still, I'll give the movie a shot.

  • what is this about lol

  • Mia Wasikowska is 21 years old.

  • I love the story of Jane Eyre and I have seen every version of it. I am, however, a little put off at how young this Jane looks. She literally looks 13. Don't know if I can get into this movie when Mr. Rochester will look like a pedophile to me.
