@foreverFD3S don't get me wrong I think they are the shit I just find it weird that all three are making a version. I had no idea we weren't getting the toyota version that sucks..
@cermakattack Yeah, except only the brz and fr-s will be available in the u.s. unfortunatley, bewcause I really wanted to have the toyota 86 available to me, I would have chosen that one over the other 2 hands down, and seeing how the subie will most likley be a alot more expensive, my only choice will be the fr-s........ sigh............
lets hope scion comes up with a reasonable Msrp for the FRS, because there are still penty of good used s2000, 350z, and Z4 avaliable on the market that looks as good and peformas better then a FRS.
Whah....I thought this whole time it was gonna be called the Toyota.....wtf scion?? Id never buy it just cause its a cheap ass scion. Id buy the subi version just to piss off toyota.
Sounds like its already got exhaust on it. I honestly think this car is sex on wheels... i cant wait to see what gushi does with this car in competition.
got much respect for you autoguide on the filming, but we notice that the center console interior is not being filmed on purpose on this video and your last one from the LA reveal. Since its very ugly/cheap looking and they changed it very much from brz and gt86.
One reason why the BRZ version will most likely not excel like it should. When you tell someone you drive a BRZ eventually someone will tell you isn't that just a re-badge scion? And you would have to go into nerd mode and say no no no this is not true, and then proceed to explain how subaru did all the engineering from the engine to the suspension and blah blah blah. Its always a bad sign when you have to explain anything to people about your car. I still like the BRZ over this Scion tho.
@its2realj Subaru did all the engineering? Not quite. The list of parts that Toyota remade for the Subaru engine is long.. not to mention Toyota did the designing and came up with the idea in the first place. And it's a tribute to the AE86/2000GT.
@KingScottProductions Oh really? Well that is news to me, because all I have been reading is how Toyota did the design and Subaru did the engineering. Regardless, the fact that you even had to explain what really went on behind close doors proves my point already.
@its2realj Yeah, but if you say you drive the Scion, people will say you have a re-badged Toyota. Better assume you're driving a re-badged car, or petition Toyota for a North American 86.
Why is Scion's interior different than the other two models? It just makes it look more cheap. People will usually pay more for a better interior. I think they did this to make the Scion less expensive than the Subaru, but I would not get the Scion because of it. I would prefer a real Toyota 86, but would not mind the BRZ either. Toyota really is an oddball when marketing to America I think.
So in the Scion they decided to make the interior a little cheaper than in the FT-86 and the BRZ; i.e., notice there are no digital readouts on the center console as in the latter two.
@nismor3490 So true on rebadging it to Toyota. Scion doesn't deserve this beautiful 86. I wish they had just kept it the 86 like in Japan and made it a Toyota car. Scion cars are for posers who like to think their cars are actually performance oriented or sporty. If you buy a Scion to be unique, that's fine, but it's not sporty in the least. The 86 wearing anything other than the 86 or BRZ badge is wrong.
@urafudgehead I think otherwise actually. The Scion badge is pretty much targeted for which audience??? The younger generation.Toyota is moving towards the ehh crowd (I dont know what to call them), with the camry, corolla, etc. Lexus is well, you know...
@BigCivic i know, but my GTI, which is in a similar price point, creates a feeling of quality without being expensive. from all the pictures iv seen, FR-S looks flimsy. i think the mazda mx-5 which its meant to compete with looks better. oh well, its just an opinion, and since ill prb never drive one i wont really know how it feels.
So Toyota. They are trying to salvage there performance image in the US but they are only selling the GT86 in the US as the Scion FRS. Kind of a bad mistake as Scion is known as a hipster brand and fewer people will buy it for that reason.
