@eerereps Indeed. Without William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, the series just wasn't the same again. Gene Deitch's poor efforts aren't even worthy of the attention. Chuck Jones's ones ranged from entertaining and lively to just OK, but still largely fell short of the Hanna & Barbera era.

@JRodHacker I agree she's not a very good babysitter, aside from checking on the baby at one point. When she hits Tom for bothering the baby she's being unfair because he treats the baby better than she does. He watches out for the baby & tries to keep him out of trouble like she should be doing.

Well, this is one of the later ones. The earlier ones were much more violent, LOL. They kind of got toned down as the 50s went on. (partly because animation budgets were shrinking and it became too expensive to fully render all that crazy action).

This is a sequel to "Busy Buddies" (1956), 'CarolAnne', and was the last theatrical Tom and Jerry cartoon by Hanna-Barbera, originally released in August 1958.

While this was in production in June 1957, H-B was told by MGM to wrap it up, and then shut down their animation unit; the studio couldn't afford to produce CinemaScope cartoons anymore, figuring they'd save money by reissuing older cartoons to theaters. This attitude lasted until the first of the Gene Deitch-produced cartoons in 1961.

In "Busy Buddies" T&J are friends for the whole cartoon & in this they start out as enemies but then team up w/ each other like in some other T&J cartoons such as Dog Trouble & Triplet Trouble. In "Busy Buddies" Tom only gets hurt once for bothering the baby & in this he gets hurt more than once for that.
