I have listened to quite a few AIC videos and can tell Layne's voice started to deteriorate pretty quickly. His sickness really held the band back from touring. Layne had a disease that killed him. It is sad he never got the help he needed. I would not gloss over how sick Layne was. He weighted in at 85 lbs. when he died.
@3dgun He still had all of his teeth in 1996, didn't start losing them 'till the final few years of his life. You can however hear a slight lisp that he always had. People often mistake this for missing teeth.
@3dgun I think it looks like his teeth aren't there just because he's looking down. His eyes aren't actually shadowed either when you see the house lights hit his face. He looks a little thinner but he still looks like Layne. He actually had a really beautiful smile but with the way his mouth was shaped you couldn't always see his teeth unless he was really smiling, or single with his mouth wide open. :)

It annoys me how singers always seem to be the center of attention in bands, because singing requires less talent than playing an instrument, it's just something that comes naturally to some people, so if they don't write or anything then they really shouldn't be getting all the attention. Although clearly a sweet guy...

i heard that jerry did write most of the songs at the beggining, but as the years when by (and layne's problems got worse) layne was writing more and more songs.

well wvuusa, although i dont really like the new singer, i think its good for the band, to still go out and play. alc will never ever be the same again, without layne. but i think layne would be happy that his band is still out there playing and enjoying life.

I think the band should move on, after all layne was a member of the band NOT the band. I think he had a special place though that can't really be filled by any other singer out there especially in the heart of his fans.
