WOW the medicinal plant replacing hormones is incredible. Does anyone have a link to more medicinal plants? My girlfriend has thyroid problems and I wouldn't mind seeing what would help her. Nature is one step ahead of us! And she provides everything if we look hard enough.
@rowenwilliam There's a book called "Edible Forest Gardens."
It talks a little about this. I've been thinking a lot about this too. I don't yet know of a good source for what you're asking. I've only just started looking into this and I assume (I don't have anything by him) that Bill Mollison must have some sort of book on this very subject.
Ken...what a lucky man to live in such a nice spot...wind or not. I live in Alaska and am interested in permaculture. With all our sunlight and cool temperatures the "root" and "cold" types of plants do best here. I have just recently discovered the permaculture type of gardening....any clues on where to look for my type of climate for such things?

Vitex agnus-castus
Agnus Castus
You can find it on the pfaf (dot) org site in the medicinal section. This was the one mentioned around 4:30 for female infertility.
