  • Hello Dr.Z,thanks for the followup ....I replaced the thermostat..Problem fixed...

  • This smart ass took six minutes to tell me what he could have in 30 seconds. I don't care what he had for lunch and I don't want to hear the whack it with a hammer fix. I wouldn't call this yahoo to do anything for me.

  • haha just saw the vid uncle jim

    Hi me!

  • @Eiekk Thanks. I hope that you liked it.

  • great job. love you viedos keep it up . learning havac your viedos have realy realy helped , THANKS

  • i use sunday paper to beat my dog , who knew it had so many uses. I love recycling

  • @waters65 lol

  • Dr.Z........got a good for you..........Goodman gas package unit has locked out/shut down.......Replace c/b...transformer,contactor,capacitor,I do not have 24 volt at the contactor-coil.The evap.motor does run on the fan side of the thermostat.but nothing else. There is 33.4 volts on the secondary of the transformer.Check all f/s,r/s,l/s.I even wired the thermostat at the molex plug directly......still nothing .What am I missing..........

  • @MrTERRYD55 You might want to try jumpering the red thermostat wire to the green wire and see if the fan comes on. If it does then there's something wrong with the thermostat or the wire going to the thermostat.

  • @MrTERRYD55 Just curious what did you eventually find wrong with your unit?

  • @achzdck lol

  • @plaebslayer Thanks.

  • wow very pretty lady ....lol

  • @clunkerboy1 lol.

  • i am falling in love w/ your nice

  • @tony5996e lol

  • Doc, I have to bust you also ! Double whammy ! LOL..Shouldn't poke and tug on run capacitors with your bare hands. Not safe and could be very unforgiving. I know techs that have been knocked on their butts touching them, when not being discharged after the disconnect was already off.

  • @IndieBraah I always discharge the caps before handling them.

  • Hey Doc whats under the turkey? black object yes good info the ice cube looks partially

frozen. trol temp zone board can be very crazy. running ac then heat mode on its own.

  • @co2x3 Sounds like a problem with the board keeping the reversing valve energised.

  • Excellent video. Good information.

  • @Tyrone7994 Thanks for watching.

  • When it really gets hairy, I connect a data logger to suspect components though I can usually find an intermittent problem using more conventional test gear and some reasoning. If all else fails and you don't have a good answer for the customer they appreciate that you are still on the ball rather than telling them that you don't know what the problem is because it's intermittent.

  • @tstatech A data logger would be a nice tool to have.

  • Had a condenser fan motor that would start ok when cold as it usually was by the time we got to site but found out that once it had warmed up it wouldn't start!

Had another one that would stop working when the sun was shining on the controller, again by the time we got there the sun had moved round! Makes the job interesting :-)

  • @heavydiesel That sounds like a bad run capacitor or bearings.

  • @DrZarkloff Yeah, the run cap checked out ok so i put a new motor and new capacitor on it.

  • I do get calls like that, they are so irritating. Never works except when I'm there. And I have to tell the customer that I cannot troubleshoot it unless it is not working when I arrive.

  • @fyescas777 I hate it when the air conditioner is working when I get there. lol

  • always interesting...  nice job :}

  • @Bocist Thanks

  • cool. good to see a vid from you. yer hitting stuff can fix a lot of things and be fun at the same time.lol

  • @V8Jagnut Thanks. I've been know to kick compressors, too.

  • have you ever had a oil sump heater trip short once it heated up to operating temp? itt happened to me on several Trane screw machines

  • @IChoseTheRedPill At least you know what's happening. You could replace the oil sump heater and see it that fixes it.

  • Lol good vid!.

If in doubt, beat it with a blunt object :D

  • @Aussie50 Thanks. lol

  • tell whoever that is mowing the lawn to slow that sucker down its way over proper rpm that poor engine is gonna cook it slf:)

  • @itscool1968 It wasn't my lawn mower. I have an electric.

  • ok dr z i got to bust you on this one one should never tap live contactors with a metel screw driver:)

  • @itscool1968 You're no fun. lol

  • @DrZarkloff i got you in youre fix the ac for the neabor to you said the bord or connector was bad turned out as you found the critter was shorting it out:)

i allways check behind bords first:)

  • Intermittent problems are probably crazy to diagnose with all those components and wires. Thanks for covering all those possibilities! Do you call that a "technical tap" at 2:15?

  • @tlewis7777 Yep. Technical taps are one of the more technical parts of the job.
