  • howard, steve dahl, when detroit radio was awesome

  • loved the Ghoul as a kid and Howard Stern later in life .. never knew they crossed paths .. this is awesome ! I wish I had the entire show

  • He sounds like he is from Chicago?

  • I did my radio internship at WWWW in the news department (Steve Mankewicz was news director). I left in January 1980 just before Howard started working there. At the time I was there they were playing rock and Jim Johnson was doing mornings replacing Steve Dahl who had left for Chicago. Shortly after Howard started the station changed formats overnight to play country music.

  • @Homebrew58 Howard was on W4 from April 80 to Jan 81, so it kinda works out...

  • great fuckin picture of Howard and Fred..........................damn I didn't know they went that far back

  • Who is the Ghoul? Is it the same as Ghoulardi from Cleveland? As in PTA's dad?

  • Ghoul Power!

  • This is pre-Robin whoa.

  • I had no clue, that Howard Stern was on W4! This is incredible! But, this is really cool....having Howard and The Ghoul on a show, at the same time! Thanks for posting this!

  • @kyokogodai YES, i too, think, this is very, COOL, as well!

  • I wish all the shows were archived from WCCC, WWWW, DC 101 and WNBC.

I listen to classic archived shows all day.

  • 3:30 - never get rich in this business. Howard proved that wrong, good for him!

This clip is awesome, thanks for the priceless post.

  • The Ghoul and Howard on radio is pretty bad-ass... the king of all media and The Ghoul together...

  • Ooops,Im a retard!

  • Thats sweet. I spent a little TIME in Hartford and was at the greyhound bus terminal in DC for a few hours. Guess Im like Howard, from the getto and stayed there. Well..early on that is. Oh and that he's a LEGEND and Im...well...Me! Were just alike

  • Being from Detroit thats cool as hell to listen to!!! Although I was not alive yet. Pipers Alleys still there though. Were Fred and Howard together way back then?

  • Howard met Fred in Hartford in 1979. When Howard left there he had Fred call in with voices from time to time, until Fred joined the show in late 1981 at Washington.

  • long live the Ghoul!

  • Yes , that is Ron Sweed... caught him at a local halloween party this year.Been a fan since the early 70s. Long live our king and leader ! He speaks of Bill Kennedy and local weatherman Sonny Elliot which would base his conversation in Detroit.

  • Youtube would be nothing without MasterTube

Nuh nuh nuh nuh Shiny nose

  • The ghoul was Ron Sweed.

  • Interesting to hear the early Howard but I'm glad I missed him in those days.

  • Perhaps he is really Fartman in that case!! We may be onto something...

  • The Ghoul was Steve Doocy. He went on to get a TV show and is now on Fox News.

  • NO WAY! Thats not Doocy!

  • hahaha....wtf

  • How did you get this stuff!?! I am now more convinced than ever that MasterTubeTheatre is really Fred Norris. :D

  • My personal theroy is that MasterTubeTheatre is actually a viligante posting stern clips by day and fighting crime by night.

  • Perhaps he is really Fartman in that case!!

    We may be onto something...

  • Holy shit. This show is better than today's Stern.
