All these spellings & vowels were regional variations & not fixed.

But in the context of their lyrical history and what is known of their lives and interests (Equinox, Boleskin, channeling, etc.) I tend to think that the logo of a falling angel evokes more thoughts about Lucifer than Icarus in the average listener. And that is intentional.

Much of their newer influences came from those areas, not only musically, but spiritually as well. As I devote a considerable amount of time to researching ancient religions of the near east, I considered your questions about the song and listened. Could very well be that they are singing of the Ancient ones and the Old ones of Sumerian lore... =)
