  • ok, enlighten me: wtf is the point of this game? how do you play it? i wanna learn

  • You need to be in a winter country to understand it, with 5 month's of winter, we need something to do, Canada rules Hockey and Curling, thus, every town in Canada has 2 things for sure... a Hockey Rink and a Curling Rink. Oh... and a bar, because our beer is like Moonshine...

  • ive played in perth (thats where ther are)

  • estos deben tener las casas con los pisos mas brillantes del condado.. jajaj

  • looks like a really bad version of bowling

  • @Dacandybar expect bowling isnt an Olympic sport for some reason, and after watching this i dont understand why not.

  • how is this an Olympic sport?? I dont understand it at all.

  • This is a sport that no person can just pickup and play like soccer and football

  • YUMMY! Give me some of that David Murdoch anyday! WOOF!

  • People saying "this is not a sport or its gay" I would like to see some of them even try for 10 minutes and then they will realize...how hard this sport really is.

  • yeah right... compare it to other winter sports and you will know how easy this is.

  • Im not saying Im a fan or anything but...before you say that try it and ou will see how hard it is..

  • "hard" doesn't make something a sport. This is glorified sweeping. Quick, call the Household Chore Olympics, I think next year we should add cleaning the appliances!

  • Very strategic. Many people play a "beach" variant here in Brazil. You don't need to sweep, of course.

  • Oi. This sport has been around longer than anyone making comments here. Try it before you make fun of it and realize how difficult it is. Don't be ignorant.

  • italian curling is top

  • i dun get this sport.

  • after this, might as well make penile penetration into a snowman a winter olympic sport.

  • Yeah I know its a sport. Still gay though

  • lol this is gay

  • @obamasmash This is a sport and it's not gay.

  • If you don't like it, no one's forcing you to watch. Personally, I quite enjoy curling and it's definitely more to it than "push a stone over ice".

It's not that different to Billiard, Golf or Snooker actually.

  • WTF is this bullshit it looks like they are interviewing to be a janitor, why don't they just use a pushbroom it might be easier.

  • fuck you

  • G0 CANADA BABE! SCOTTISH FAILZ!

  • the narrator sounds like Jonathan Ross.

  • It's not JR, promise :-)

  • If the USA Curling Team upgrade their brooms to Swiffer Wet Jets they'll definitely win the gold

  • Seriously this looks like it was created for Saturday Night Live!! Is this a joke???

  • @Orlandokat10 you are the only joke.

  • no this sport is a joke, a bunch of muppets brooming ice to make a stone move sounds like a bit of a joke to me

  • NFL Football and Nascar are not the only sports here on earth, why don't you do some research on curling. It's recognized by the IOC.

  • so you automatically assume that i'm some dumbass redneck do you? i don't even come from america and btw i know this is a lagitamite sport, i just think that that is the funny part about it, that it is a lagitamite sport and the game has made it this far to make it as an official game in the olympics - now that is a joke!

  • Not quite sure what you mean?

  • It's curling, older than any sport you know of. The only joke here is you.

  • What an unusual but very interesting sport

  • wow.....interesting......

  • it's a more physical game than golf and we call that a sport. We even call golfers athletes for some reason.

  • You can armwrestle Annika Sorenstam and find out why they´re called athletes.

  • if you're strong you're an athlete, got it.

  • @mxracer194

True but golf isn't in the Olympics... neither should this fucking stupid sport be

  • @Btoastz If you care to look something up rather than running your mouth with ignorance you would find out that golf will be in the Olympics in 2016.

  • @LOVELIFE54 ):

  • fodah'

  • J'adore trop ce sport. Le curling c'est vraiment quelque chose que j'aime beaucoup regarder et qui malheureusement n'est pas très pratiqué en France.

  • this is an olympic sport?????

  • Can't WAIT for the curling!!!!!!

  • Curling is chess on ice -- it takes skill and strategy to excel.

  • I love team Scotland!! David murdoch is the best scottish skip ever

  • this is fucking hardcore.

  • HARDCORE SHIT RIGHT HERE

  • DULLLLLLLLLLLLL

  • Looks really boring...

  • Here are the world rankings for England and Wales, 2008-09.

Men, England 23rd, Wales 19th out of 42 nations.

Women , England 17th, Wales 35th out of .... oh dear... 35. come on Wales

  • if only English ice rinks could see the potential for having say 500 members playing curling and paying to use their facilities, and having drinks and meals in their bar - it is so short sighted for none of them to even contemplate it - especially northern ones such as Newcastle, Penrith etc.

I suppose it is a chicken and egg situation. You need someone to lead it from the front - and that should be the RCCC - who should be trying to develop the game throughout the UK

  • Sorry but the RCCC have no remit for developing the game in England - that is the responsibility of the English Curling Association.

  • It is sad that Kent is the only place to play curling in England - but at least it is a start to getting more people playing, and more interest in the sport. There was talk of one for Cambridge about 5 years ago but it never got built. You can play in Wales though just over the border from Chester at Deeside.

  • I think the previous comments are harsh. The English Women can hold their own against many of the other nations now and are in the top division internationally and should be applauded for getting there. We should be encouraging the English to take more interest in curling. If we had curling in every county in England instead of just Kent, the sport would have more money, more sponsership, more TV coverage, more cash competitions, and strength in depth. That would be a good thing wouldn't it?

  • Paperball, you are remembering of course that the english women's team is made up of, in the majority, Scots?

  • Unfortunately the women were relegated from the top division of the European Championships last month. And no they are not all Scottish though those who are English did develop their skills at Kelso Curling Club in the Scottish Borders. But you should note that a team of junior women all English born and from Kent played in the European Junior Challenge this year .

  • It would be good to have more people curling in England - but even after the Olympic triumph in 2002 we could not interest any of the ice rinks in England in allocating time to the sport. iceSheffield is starting to develop curling but it will take time to persuade the management that they need to invest time and money in developing the sport. The rink in Kent was a purely private venture by a well off curler who wanted to invest his money in developing a rink down there.

  • That should be 30,000 curlers in Scotland of course.

  • more like scotland are going for gold, theres never any english people in the brittish curling team

  • That's because there are no players in England good enough to be part of the team - there are 30,00 curlers in Scotland and 200 in England!!!
