  • my cat can make better promos!! jk

  • If only he had promo skills...

  • this is hard to watch

  • Comment removed

  • The Promo itself was not bad it was the delivery that killed it, anyone else with even average mic skills cutting that exact same promo would have done a great job.

  • haha not a good mic worker at all...

  • He looking straight into a autocue?

  • Yes this was pretty bad and i cant believe i see some comments saying differently. The awkward smiling, the bad timing, the look of a kid trying to remember his lines in the school play, etc.. But WWE still dropped the ball with him. They should have been working on him with promos 24/7 and if it still didnt work then they should have given him a great talking manager. His unique ring skills were too good to give up on him.

  • People are always giving out about The Miz being the Star of their tag-team and don't know why.

    THIS IS WHY.

  • nothing wrong with this promo.

  • that wasnt that bad you know.

  • @ZigglerRyderMiz It really wasn't. But you know YouTube commenters. They're not exactly the smart type. They overexaggerate the hell out of everything.

  • He is fucking awful on the mic. Unbelievably bad

  • Holy heavily scripted, batman!

  • The only spark that Jeff Hardy sets ablaze is for his crack pipe

  • Not the greatest promo of all time, but better than plenty of others that I've heard. Do the names Batista and Scott Steiner ring any bells?

  • And Hardy was the one on drugs. Who would have thought?

  • whats wrong with this

  • it's just his facial expressions lol

  • I think that they realized during this promo that Morrison will not be as big as they thought.

  • THANK GOD that the delivery of the match was enough to compensate for this mess.

  • If he does go to TNA I think he'll excel. After all, noone watches TNA so the quality of his promos would be irrelevant.

  • @lewiso101 You don't have to explain the story about Benoit. If someone didn't know just let them find out for themselves.

  • I saw nothing wrong with this promo.

  • @Kinggoken I cringe at the awkwardness from start to finish

  • @#$% you. john morrison is awesome

  • Shit, I forgot what Morrison looked like without a beard.

  • 1:03 - "Shit, I can't remember what to say".........*laughs nervously

  • Mic skills of a peanut.

  • reading off cue cards?? haha

  • That was kinda ok

  • tbf this was a long time ago

  • But how did his heel charisma vanish, so easily&quickly???

  • He should've mentioned a mustache.

  • What I don't get, though, is why the producers let this get into the final edit. Why couldn't they retape this? SmackDown isn't broadcast until 3 days after the live taping anyway....

  • I like Morrison but yeah that was awkward.

  • John Morrison always seemed to be a little.... boring.... No one really cared about him.

  • Wat was so bad about that

  • Right. My point was that not all of these wrestlers have line-by-line scripts they "memorize", because it lacks credibility and it basically creates a character by default. I agree that people like Diggler probably have somewhat a "memorized-based" script, but it's not ENTIRELY planned out; even for him. Part of that logic is that WWE probably sets up when a promo will happen and may give a subject, but many wrestlers fill in the blanks with their own lines. Some of it is lack of opportunities.

  • @pl8yanahalf33 I disagree with Ziggler, I think he's been given mic time recently and he's ad libbed a lot of it.

  • This is the main reason Morrison was never a World Champion. He was horrible on the microphone, despite his good in-ring skills.

  • For the life of me, I cannot understand why they had Morrison a Babyface the whole time.. He was horrible on the mic, but when he was on ECW and BECAME John Morrison his promos where alot easier to overlook and irrelevant anyways considering his "I don't care, I'm better than you anyways" mentality.

  • this is why u dont script promos

  • @NewYorkKidd Promos aren't "scripted". You actually have to come up with the dialogue on your own. The subject maybe the only thing "scripted". Why else would people put so much stock in having charisma? If wrestlers just read lines off of a script, then the excitement and actual task of having charisma would cease to exist.

  • @pl8yanahalf33 So u telling me someone can't memorize and script and be excited and charismatic at the same time?

To me the entire time he looked like he was trying to memorize something, nothing he said felt natural.

And there are scripted promos..Austin and Bret Hart also acknowledged this, there are few people they just give bullet points to and let them go off the handle.

  • @NewYorkKidd You are a bit off here. There aren't "exact" lines that wrestlers have to memorize. If that was the case, there would be no credibility in promos at all and there wouldn't be such a high stock in them. If so, anyone could sit there and memorize a script and say "the lines". No one could "memorize" a 20-min promo. That's making a character instead of the person making the character. John Cena isn't John Cena by script; he's made that way by himself and his own "lines".

  • @pl8yanahalf33 How many of these guys actually have control over their character tho? Very few people have that quality to build their character on their own [John Cena one of the few who "made" himself]. Not too many guys are cutting 20 min promo's anyway, this is why the guys with limited mic skills have at the most 5 mins of promo time ie; Dolph Ziggler..my favorite wrestler but the one time he tried to cut a long promo by himself he bombed horribly. thats why some guys get scripts

  • @pl8yanahalf33 This is where your probably wrong, They probably limit what john cena can say ever thought about that?

  • @aaronrichardson1000 Actually, no. Last time I checked, Cena's promos were longer than virtually every other promo on Raw combined. I highly doubt that they make Cena "hold back" and "limit" him, because of it.

  • @pl8yanahalf33 Umm, that's not completely true. In fact, it's not true at all. The guys who have the most charisma, and are established mic-men, are the ones who are allowed to come up with their own stuff. There are very few men in that group; these days, I'd presume it's people like Cena, Punk, Triple H, Ziggler, R-Truth, Big Show and Miz who fit the category. All others are given lines by creative.

Nevertheless, the one word to describe this promo: WEAK.

  • @dmp2163 You're trailing off a bit. If so, that's basically the company making the wrestler in-ring and promo-wise, with the wrestler having no control whatsoever. Using that logic, the athlete is basically becoming internalized by the company, which is about as demoralizing as it gets. Besides, if so much stock is put into promos and "live" shows with how important it is to have charisma, how is that applicable when others make it for you?

  • @dmp2163 I think Cena, Punk, HHH, and Truth are the only ones that write their own promos. I know that it's at least them, anyway. Ziggler should be writing his own promos, he's gold (in my opinion). His segments on Z True Long Island Story are/were awesome (once again, my opinion).

  • Is it wrong of me to think that this is a good promo? Because I do...

  • the palace of wisdom

  • great until the last sentence

  • Sounds like a 1 minute 15 second commercial...a bad one

  • Actually, it's not bad at all. The smirk wasn't required, rest all is fine.

  • I've seen worse, man..

    1. Mike McGillicutty: Genesis

    2.Eli Cottonwood: Mustache and others.....

    -SiD

  • @sid7dis Mustache was a little bit awesome but for all the wrong reasons. To be fair to Cottonwood, it's a pretty difficult subject to discuss on the fly like that. I think management were a bit against him, I swear one of the rookies subjects was competition, which since he was in a competition is pretty easy to talk about.

  • @goth1agw1omw The things I would have said if I got mustache was:

"Mustache, huh.. If you divide mustache in two words, you get MUST ACHE. And that is exactly my motto. I will decimate my opponents until every joint in their body aches. 'Cause I'm Eli Cottonwood, and I will decimate"

See, this is at least a good promo, and this would have been much better.

    Like if you agree.

  • @sid7dis I got to say with what you're given that's pretty good. However, you had time to think of it. Cottonwood should have been a quiet destroyer. At his size he needs to be intimidating, but he wasn't, he tried to play a psychotic gimmick but kept forgetting that a lot it seemed.

  • @goth1agw1omw That's true. He didn't have the look, to be honest. He was too old, had a 80's name, just didn't click with the audience..

And what's ironic is that he was John Morrison's rookie.

  • @sid7dis It was more of a stereotypical country name, I thought. He facially could pull of a psycho look and with a lot more time in the gym he could be much better looking, but instead came off as an American Great Khali. None of the rookies really got across, the fans were just bored and wanted RAW/Smackdown! to start (not sure which it curtain jerks for).

  • @goth1agw1omw Yeah, LOL. I hate to say this, but I don't think he can make it big i this business.

  • @sid7dis well anyone could be big in the business. Cena is the biggest star today but look at how many people constantly question his talent, Hogan became unpopular in the same way after a few years and these are the two biggest names in the 80's and now. Chavo was one of the most talented guys but jobbed every week.Talent means nothing in WWE, if Vince wants you to be a star he will make you a star, but unlike Khali he has no established fan base to work from.

  • @goth1agw1omw I agree with you, but some people, no matter how you try, can never be a star, I mean look at Alberto Del Rio.

Vince tried to make him a star and now he's not believable in the fan's eyes. He won RR, MITB,WWE title but still, most of the people are considered better than him.

Eli Cottonwood doesn't have IT, to be honest.

  • @sid7dis Yeah I know Cottonwood wouldn't become the face of the WWE or anything but you get what I mean. Vince will always prefer and put one of his own guys first. The guys he makes, who he has trademark to, who he had trained will always be his first option. He doesn't like Punk being on top, but he knows now he has no choice, but if he did Punk would be jobbing in the midcard.

  • @goth1agw1omw Agreed on this. Great discussion we had about Eli Cottonwood, I must say.

But this video was about John Morrison LOL.

  • @sid7dis true. So in that vain: Morrison has a very odd voice when he talks, he sounds meek, not intimidating or attractive or even funny. His moves are really flashy but he is actually able to transition between moves really well unlike other quick guys, he uses his parkour in ways that make sense, unfortunately I don't think I have ever seen him hit Starship Pain properly.

  • @goth1agw1omw I agree with you, an to be honest, I am a big John Morrison mark. He has his moves, he has charisma, he is different from others.

He just needs to work on is promos, and I believe then he could do fine.

Yeah, I agree that he botches Star-ship Pain mostly, he should get a new finisher.

  • @sid7dis The day I really became a Morrison fan was his RAW ladder match with Jeff Hardy. WWE is mostly promo's (only about 30mins of Raw is wrestling) and so they don't really have much to do with Morrison. Maybe now he's been written off TV, he might get some vocal training (his voice really is awful for promo's) and some practice in. Edge had the best moveset, he could do his moves and finisher to anyone from any angle.

  • @goth1agw1omw I guess he improves his mic work in his absence.

Edge was great, but right now, I think Dolph and Cody have the best moveset.

  • Funny he's talking about Jeff Hardy.... who has way wores mic skills.

  • @MinimiMax *worse :D

  • John Morrison only got big because Chris Benoit.

  • @lewiso101 How's that?

  • @RKOFAN24 John Morrison only started to get recognised after winning the ECW championship, he was never supposed to win it in the first place though. Chris Benoit was scheduled to win at Night of Champions 2007, but he couldn't make it because of the fact that he had snapped causing him to kill his wife, son and then commit suicide. Even though no one was aware of the reason that Benoit was absent from the event, WWE still needed a replacement, thats how john morrison got the spotlight

  • @lewiso101 i'm aware of that but that happened by accident when Benoit Passed away i thought you meant Chris Benoit put him over or something.

  • @lewiso101 Not exactly. I'm sure he would've eventually gone on to hold the "ecw" championship whether Benoit was still alive or not. He just got his push a little earlier than scheduled because they needed a last minute replacement for Benoit at the PPV. A Benoit/Morrison feud would've likely happened as well. But hey, who knows? All I know is JoMo's success was NOT because of Benoit's untimely death.

    R.I.P Chris Benoit

  • @lewiso101 Um, no.

  • This is why he was released, for having ZERO Charisma.

  • pure douchebag promo with special cameo appearance of crackhead at the end.

  • he left WWE :(

  • If only He could polish up on his mic skills, get a good gimmick and be a bad ass heel. His pre recorded promo's with Miz were awesome.

  • he just needs a manager, a lot of them do. bring back the Valets!

  • How bout Ridiculous John Morrison's Promo

  • This promo is bad like John Cena in ring skils.....

  • Bet you anything someone is holding a script up for him in the background due to his inability to cut a flowing promo. And the way he is talking with odd pauses suggests so. His talent in the ring will be missed, his lack of talent on the mic won't be.

  • Palace of wisdom??WTF!?!?

  • what the hell he try sed?

  • he stole my frikin lunch.MY DOG HAS BETTER MIC SKILLS

  • wtf is he smiling at? So awkward and forced

  • @impactplayer09 he was looking at the cmaera man and tells him what to do

  • No mic skills

  • the fuck.... I see know wny tna wants to sign him

  • LMAO at the akward pauses

  • he sucks

  • I think Josh's overbite is more ridiculous than this promo.

  • @Macca1969 how does heh have an overbite?

  • Morrison is incredibly short sighted, hes looking in the wrong direction

  • That's not the first time Jeff Hardy and 'blaze' have been used in the same sentence...

  • Captain Cliché...

  • meh, not a terrible promo, just full of clichés

  • Ouch.

  • This interview was so bad. He was obviously reading from a telemonitor or a big board telling what him to say. Lol...

  • An idiot from Bleacher report always brings me here.

  • @ashebull123 justin fucking watry

    stupid mofo hater

  • oh dear

  • I don't see what's so bad about this.

  • Atleast he's no Miggillicutty god he makes me cringe.

  • He was reading a monitor isn´t he?

  • This is an interview, not a promo

  • He is so fucking stoned.

  • Promos like this are BORING!

  • this promo was actually ok

  • It actually would've been ok if wasn't for the stoned, goofy ass smiling.

Did he grab some goodies from Jeff's "special bag" before this or what.

  • wtf was that..

  • Is John Morrison reading cue cards?

  • He doesn't even look comfortable on the mic but I've seen other people do worse. That's why you play to your strengths, not your weaknesses.

  • Is it me or does he always sound like he's being sarcastic

  • I see what the problem is he needs more hype, aka, Charisma with more feeling in your words you can put it into the audience's soul

  • He looks like he was reading off a monitor

  • i think dolph ziggler and john morrison sound the same

I meant like the same voices

  • HAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHHAAHAHHAAHA

  • That seems like an ultimate warrior parody to me. Go heel Hennigan!!

  • He is soooo bad. Sure, he's not the worst, but right now, of guys who get regular mic time in the WWE, name me 10 guys who are truly worse than him. Just 10.

It's the end of the promo that's particularly brutal.

  • @Tellthatruth

morrison is so much better as heel!

he is a really good heel actually!

  • "FACEPALM"

  • I just imagine vince macmahon, crapping his pants and pulling his hair when watching this.XD

  • I don't see whats the problem, obviously Morrison was testing out his reporter voice.

  • Yeah he's no CM Punk on the mic, but there have been so many worse. This isn't too bad to be honest.

  • Meh I've seen worse. Morrison isn't exactly the Rock or Jericho on the mic but he's not as bad as others.

  • @RedMage86 What others? I WANNA SEE!

  • ecw morrison was so good on the mic

  • John looks damn hot. I love him...

  • the reason why he can't cut good promos is probably because he was not a wrestling fan growing up. Alot of wrestlers who never dreamed about becoming wrestlers usually are bad at cutting promos (lesnar, goldberg, warrior etc)

  • @DariushUFC1985 Good point, I never noticed that trend. Too bad for Michael McGillicutty though; he practically grew up in wrestling, and that didn't help his promos, haha

  • he can't cut a promo,fact

  • @death1today, He can cut promos but only as a heel.

  • @tjmack010 yes !

  • Dont really see what was wrong with that !

Cant see any of these so called "internet wrestling experts" doing any better....

  • @TheAab11 DUMB. That is a fucking stupid attitude. You really don't think anyone should criticize anything unless they can do better? Let's say your friend plans on getting a tattoo from someone named Dave. You've seen Dave's work before and it looks fucking TERRIBLE, but since you're no artist yourself, you just keep your mouth shut and let your friend give Dave $200 to mutilate him. Then when your friend asks why you didn't warn him you say "let's see you do a better tattoo than Dave."

  • @yourtunesfuckinsuck - However how can you critise fairly when you know nothing about the subject?

  • @TheAab11 You are a fucking idiot. Do you mean to tell me that you can't understand the difference between not being able to do something and not knowing anything about it? Let's try a different example. Let's say that I'm a really good drummer and I'm hearing someone play piano in a really shitty style with poor rhythm. Now I don't know how to play chords on the piano, but I still know that this is a fucking shitty piano player. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THIS CONCEPT OR ARE YOU RETARDED?

  • @yourtunesfuckinsuck - Do I really have to dignify that with an answer?

  • @TheAab11 you just did.

  • @TheAab11 I could do better.

  • @MBGamingLegends i doubt it. otherwise, you'd probably be a wrestler right about now.

  • @KillerKahn Wrestlers don't get chosen at random because of their mic skills, you actually have to train for years. If I put in the time and effort into getting into the WWE, my promos would be legendary.

  • @MBGamingLegends wow, you clearly think too much of yourself. and don't talk down to me about the training, i do know what a person has to do to become a wrestler. i don't know who you think you are, but you come across as one of these "human 2.0" idiots who think they're better then what they are. if you think you can do a better promo, then go do the training, get into wwe and prove it.

  • @KillerKahn I don't need to prove anything, I already know I could wipe the fucking floor with ANYONE in that company...even The Rock.

  • @MBGamingLegends sad troll is sad. and by sad, i don't mean "i could cry because i'm a lonely troll with nothing better to do with my life." sad. i mean. "i still think trolling is funny because i'm a sad little geek who get's hard from pissing people off" sad. the only reason i don't mean first option is because you haven't reached that stage in your pathetic excuse you call a life. get off the computer, go to a party, drink some jack daniels, get laid and cheer up a bit.

  • @TheAab11

    Doing any better?

What kind of stupid comeback is that? They aren't wrestlers on TV, Morrison is. Why do they have to "do better" to point out a nonsensical promo?

  • @Abazigal - These "arm chair managers" that think they know everything and actually know nothing.

  • @TheAab11

    Right.

This promo was awkward and nonsensical. You can go on about how people "know nothing" because you liked a crap Morrison promo, but count how many promos Morrison had in the last couple of years, even when he was getting a push at the beginning of this year. Then take a wild guess as to why it's so low.

  • i think morrison is a great mid carder wrestler if only u just keep him OFF the mic and let him just do his flippy moves and ocassionaly give him a mid card strap

  • Just walk away man walk away, that was mindless babble lmao

  • I love John Morrison. Who wouldn`t be nervous doing these promos? Jomo has said in interviews that scripts are often changed at the last moment too. Thats unnerving. It sets people up to fail which is unfair. The man is a gifted wrestler. I have watched wrestling for a long time, people like HBK, HHH, the Rock really were piss poor on the mic and very unimpressive. They only got better close to their retirement from the sport.

  • He looks like he's reading from a cue card...

  • omg wtf dead scene lol

  • come on morrison! get better already!!!!!! maybe make him heel again?

  • No charisma, poor mic skills and miserably bad actor... Poor Morrison, his only value is doing flips and leaps.

  • @socialistinterceptor lol I've seen worse

  • if u ask me this is one of his better promos

  • What a terrible actor, his fake smiles are convincing no-one.

  • Nothing wrong with that promo really.

  • So this is a ridiculous promo...how???

  • He's a 'roidblazer, but funny as f*ck.

  • Sad thing is...this is typical of most of the wrestlers they have reciting the script that is prepared for them. God I remember when I used to love watching promos but that was over 10 years ago. FUCK!!!
