About 50 horsepower. The GLT stock has around 190hp while the T5 has 236. Mine has considerable modifications done to it though (16G turbo swap, 3.5" exhaust, cold air intake, new injectors, fuel pump, port and polished intake runners, etc" and just over 300HP so it cranks along a tad faster then a standard T5.
@Jimmagnusson In the USA the one labled as the GLT only came with the 190hp low pressure turbo engine, the T5 only came with the 236 high pressure turbo engine. The 168HP non turbo engine only came in the base and SE models.
Easy way 200hp; all the external stuff including ecu map, full exhaust, short ram cold intake with foglight ram pipes, port & polish, oversize injectors, lighter and stronger rods, shaved head, balanced crank, HC pistons, HP pumps (Oil/ fuel) and modded VVIS amoungst others.
Hard way and alot of cash = Seriously who would do this though, go turbo right? Theres a few with this done, look for a red one on you tube, its got I think 260 or something.
and I loose traction at 70mph.... that takes balls

You know a n/a 20V 2.5 can be tuned to about 200 hp relatively easily (Or 250+ if you've got big bucks).

volvo23t 2 years ago
yes, in '95 the 850T5-R did. the S70T5-R never meade it to U.S. shores
edub234 2 years ago
is it 2.5t version? i guess t5 never came to US did they?
cygan2002 3 years ago
Its a T5, they did release them in the US but they were notoriously hard to find in a manual so sadly mine is an automatic.
girtygrin 3 years ago
Heh... t5 is brilliant but the insurance is more expensive than 2.5T. Riddiculus!
You've got a great car man! Still an automatic gearbox pulls better than most of them sports cars out there ;p
I'm getting 2.5t this week! I'm overexcited! ;p
