To have such wonderful music at one's fingertips on YouTube, is a real blessing!!! Once again, i salute the poster of this delightful composition and perfomance: i hope you keep your collection of musical treasures on YouTube and available to the world, indefinitely.....
@onretilom What is life, you ask me, I can´t deny it: love and grief are my life because of you. Who else can serve you as finely as I had served you? Who else would have chosen my life, so full of effort? Why do you ask me about the pain I must still suffer? For love and grief are my life because of you.

Is it just me or does the singing sound a bit too "modern" here? Like early baroque. It's beautiful, but I miss something. Irrelevant side-issue: she (on the picture) doesn't seem too friendly either!:)
I can see why he is so renowned. I don't care for most Medieval music but this is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for posting
Johannes Ockeghem c1410-1425, Saint-Ghislain, Belgium February 6, c1497, Tours, France) was the most famous composer of the Franco-Flemish School in the last half of the 15th century, and is often considered the most influential composer between Dufay and Josquin des Prez. In addition to being a renowned composer, he was also an honored singer, choirmaster, and teacher.
After hearing this it's hard to maintain the prejudice that modern man is more sophisticated that medieval man.

That´s my life you ask, odd I can deny it:
well to love and to regret is the life that give me.
Who could serve so well as I have served?
My to live who could have suffered?
Why do you ask me the grief that should pass? Therefore love and to regret is the life that you give me.

It's true, but we've to say also that the Flemish took a lot of techniques from Italy.
PoesSoul7 1 year ago
The Flemish were the best composers in that century and Italy payed much to bring them at there aristocratic places.

I really like the picture, I think it sets a mood which the music can revel in. One of young and beautiful sadness.
And yeah, I think you're probably right about the voice.
