  • I enjoyed Jimmys playing just as much, if not more as Stevies in this video. You cant compare apples and oranges. Very subjective. One note can sound better than 20 notes.

  • both are great players with different styles of blues/rock..neither sat around whining who was better but both would have told you Buddy Guy could bury them..its not about who is faster better etc..its who expresses it well and both brothers are masters.

  • 1 fool hit the wrong button.

  • Stevie was Stevie...there was only one. Jimmy Vaughan is an incredible guitarist. What a family to have produced such players.

  • It's called, in classical music terms, "Giving The Piece Air". Fast guitar playing is hard to pull off and keep it sounding musical. I've heard Steve Morse do it, and SRV, but few others. It's just a blizzard of notes otherwise.

  • Never cared much for Jimmie's stuff. Saw him at B.B. Kings in NYC several years back, with Lou Ann Barton, and wasn't very impressed with him. He sounds better here than I've ever heard him anywhere else. Not hatin' on him.

  • When Jimmy starting using finger picking and a capo, his style suffered. He's one of the most authentic white guitarists playing "Black" blues. Listen to "Wait On Time", from "Different Tacos". Jimmy performs one of the best authentic Chicago blues style solos any white guitarist ever has recorded. Also listen to his rhythm guitar work SRV's "Couldn't Stand The Weather", and "The Things I Used To Do. Stellar work there.

  • @Johnrack Yep, it's like we've always said in Austin - it's where you don't play that makes it twice as cool." That's always been Jimmie's strength - he knows the coolest licks, and knows where to take a breath. Blues music needs Jimmie, and will always need a player who is conversational with the guitar. Everybody doesn't have to play a thousand notes per measure.

  • I like this

  • This is sooooooooo cool. Great players all! Love you Stevie!

  • If I'm not mistaken, Stevie always thought that Jimmie was better than he was.

  • I personally don't enjoy watching Jimmie play, but it's a good thing Stevie isn't around to hear anyone talkin trash about jimmie, or there would be hell to pay. Listen to "The Vaughan Brothers - Family Style",especially "Brothers". They played the same guitar, sat facing each other handing it back and forth. You can hear them handing it to each other. Its pretty cool.

  • Man, Jimmies solos are so much better when he uses a pick. He just loses his timing now that he plays with his fingers.

  • I never compare players

  • Jimmie better than Stevie? Nope, it's the other way around.

  • @ONENIGGER2ANTOHER

Sorry, but Stevie was better than Jimmie. A fact. After all it is Stevie that is noted and said to be the greatest blues guitar player of all time, not Jimmie. Also, are you fuckin nuts? Dressed like Jimmie and combed his hair like him? Stop talking nonsense. That's not true. Stop making up things, btw. Jimmie is great and a very tasty guitar player, but Stevie was the real deal, one of a kind, he could blow anybody from the stage. A talent like him we will never see again.

  • @ONENIGGER2ANOTHER

Who gives a fuck you complete penis. They both great and certainly better than you. You suck balls now fuck off and lick some black ones.

  • @mindlepin

Nobody needs your 2 cents on the matter bitch: mind your own business.

  • It's youtube, its public and i'll say what i want niggerlips xx

  • Safely behind your key-board. If I saw your bitch ass on the street I would beat your ass.

  • Jimmie is a Great player but isn't even in the same dimension as Stevie... theres only a few players out there that could instantly transcribe any musical thought to a piece of wood and 6 strings. Stevie is among the elite my friend. Jimmie was his biggest influence getting started and learning licks but the student became the master eventually

  • Who are you lil nigga? You claim to be 23 but you look about 13. Go wash behind your ears and go back to school cause you ain't been around long enough to have an honest opinion about shit!!

  • @chadabox exact what you say,,, a thought turns into music,, stevie had a constant flow playin the guitar,, he was united completley with his instrument,, he was one of a very very chosen few... SRV at his best

  • jimmy sucks compared to the greats. no offence to him but he will forever be in his brothers shadow. no1 compares to stevie. Jimmie's style is awkward looking, repetitive and doesnt sound natural, like when you listen to BB and stevie, they are smooth and fluent and looke natural playing

  • @cripplicious

    B.B s NOT repetitive?

    Your kidding....

Very few guitar players are NOT repetitive with a VERY few exceptions of eclective stylists like Hendrix, SRV and Rory Gallagher most players have distinguishable licks and styles. I stand by my position that in his prime JLV was as good a straight blues musician as you could find.

  • B.B is repetitive i admit but the way he plays guitar is as fluent as when he talks, listening to him is like hearing Morgan freeman talk. I know Otis rush and i didn't use him in my argument as he is irrelevant. i'm sorry but my opinion still stands i find jimmy awkward to watch and listen to, no need to get angry, plus i said he sucks compared to the greats, not just sucks

  • @cripplicious

Irrelevant?? Or maybe hes the perfect example of someone who looks very awkward and unsure yet is an extremely accomplished player and you won't touch the subject because it defuses your argument on Jimmie Vaughan. And what the Hell does Morgan Freeman talking have to do with it...talk about IRREVELANT.

  • @cripplicious

As far as being or LOOKING natural maybe you know who Otis Rush is. Otis Rush almost never takes his eyes off the fretboard his fingering and chording is totally eclectic and his strings are upside down. When he palys he looks like he is trying to not screw up NOT like the ultimate baddass that he is in any half ass blues fans book. So much for your theory.

  • I think Jimmie looks so cool with his white Tele.

  • dude i just love the way jimi sounds here. thats for all those haters who say jimi was just an average player, IMHO hes just as good as any blues payer past and present. but i do feel like he sounds even greatr when hes with stevie, for some reason they always had a great vibe. like they fed off of each other or something. amazing post, thanks!

  • This tune is so damn funky, I'm still boogie'n to it and it's been over for a couple minutes now. Gotta love the smile Little Stevie cracks at the end of his solo.

  • jmmie tone is more like stevies here....weird cus he usually has a different sound

  • Watcxhing this with a BIG smile on my face and my feet are movin'.nice boogie

  • I wish I was a Texan - they're all so cool

  • wish i was there front stage man

  • Texas Legends!

  • Nice video. I have never seen this. Thank you a milion for sharing. I am just reading "Caught in the crossfire", SRV bio and this nicely fill the spirit.

  • @janchlupacek that is a GREAT book! I've read it cover to cover more than a few times, and I'm not afraid to say it.

  • Texas Style

    Doesnt get better then this

  • Old School!

  • Got Two Of My Big Influences In This One.

    Angela, Stevie
