    Dennis Sirrine

  • Thanks Dennis. Will contact you when I get there. Not sure when.

    Regards, Marvin

  • I live in Winnipeg Canada and do get to visit Mesa evry few years. Would be nice to see your laout. I'm in H.O. but my guess is yours is O scale.

    Thanks, Marvin Fetch

  • mrvn1939,

If you do get to Mesa, please look me up and come on over so we can play trains together. But this is not O scale, it is G scale 1:29, twice the size of O scale. G scale trains are made to run outside in any kind of inviroment; rain, snow, wind and dust.

  • dynadlidewalt,

Give me a call so we can get together while you are here. My cellphone number is 481-620-9459. Please call before 2:00 p.m.

    Thanks,

    Dennis

  • I like how there was ACTUAL water where there needed to be. Simply MARVELOUS WORK!

  • How do you laser level track? Never heard of it done before. Can the method be used on HO as well?

  • Primal67060,

Actually, we laser level the sub grade and then lay the track on that surface. With the sub grade perfectly level, the track just follows suit. Call me at 480-620-9459 and I can go into more detail for you.

    Dennis.

  • Dennis, very good, what dedication, I absolutely admire the time and effort you have and obviously continue to procure for your obsession.

  • I run HO scale, but can I come over and do some switching? LOL!

    Gary Barnett

    Watertown, NY (AKA The Northpole)

  • curraheewolf,

You sure can. In fact, Please do come over and help me run the railroad! It is almost impossible to run it by myself. We are operational October thru April. We close the railroad down May 1st thru October 1st. It's way too hot to run the trains during these months. Just give me a two week notice that you are coming so I can get everything ready.

    Thanks,

    Dennis

  • Any accucraft live steam in the layout?

  • IVE BEEN HERE!

  • Beautiful railroad beautifully shot. Thanks for posting

  • What did you do to get the track so level and straight, what is the road bed made up of?

  • Hi Dennis:

As an SP fan in O scale and G gauge, I would love an opportunity to view your RR.

We are planning a winter break for Minneosta snows to Las Vegas in late March or early April (dates to be determined within your schedule.) Please advise as to some dates that may work for you. I will schedule a flight from Vegas to Phoenix to visit your layout and have lunch or dinner at your restaurant.

Thanks Dennis, I'm really excited about seeing your layout.

    Ed Jungbauer

  • This is incredible very inspiraitonal

  • what do you do when it rains???

  • Hey Nick, We just leave them out in the rain. It doesn't hurt the trains at all. They are made to run in the rain and snow with no problem. Pretty cool huh!

    Dennis

  • @dennissirrine wow thats really cool

  • @dennissirrine You Just fullfiled me a Dream i had since i was a Kid....To be I live Half a World Away not to see it. :O(

  • @dennissirrine Unless theres 2 feet of snow LOL

  • Dennis, Thank you for your reply. GREAT! Is there a list I can get on? I'm thinking it would make a great Christmas gift.

  • ejungbauer, The Palo Verde and Southwestern RR has a website and we will post the video for sale on it. The website is:

    pvswrr.com

The website isn't complete, but there are some interesting things on it.

    Dennis

  • @ejungbauer

if your thinking about getting 1 u should , the best brands that i have found are USA trains , ARISTO CRAFT , and LGB thoser are some good brands to get, but if your looking for a train that looks placticy and like a toy the there is bachmann im not sure how good they r but i do not they look like a pile of junk

  • Hi Dennis, Do you offer a DVD for sale of your beautiful railroad? If not, you should in the future for all us G guage lovers of your railroad.

    Thanks, Ed Jungbauer

  • ejungbauer, we are working on a video of our layout right now. In fact, I just got back from San Jose, Ca where we were doing the final edits. And all we need to finish this puppy up is sound effects and some dialogue. We are trying to have it out by Christmas.

    Thanks,

    Dennis

  • Tell me when will event next 2011?

  • Tell me when will be event next @011?

  • This layout is incredible. Amazing. But what happens when it rains, or storms or something??? Other than that, a true masterpeiece.

  • @trainguy92 G scale trains are made to run in any kind of weather. I have run my in the rain many times with no problems whatsoever. They truely are amazing trains! The only thing that is a little rough on them is intense heat. And living here in Arizona where it gets 115 every summer, we bring the trains inside and don't run them.

  • Thats amazing. I would love to see it in real life. If i ever travel to America, your layout would definitely be something I would want to see.

  • Must be the biggest garden railroad layout in the world?

    It sure is nice! :)

  • @xKmotx

Thanks so much for your kind remarks. They are much appreciated. On the size of the layout, I have been told, by members of the National Organization of G Scaler, that my layout is the second or third largest in the United States. But I have never checked out this statement.

    Dennis

  • can i be in you will?

  • I am guessing you use MRC DCC and im also guessing that costed you a crap load more of your money. but as you said it was a labor of love

  • I watched the whole thing. When it was all over I said "Shit"

  • i think i just jizzed?

  • This is without a doubt the most impressive garden railroad I have seen. You are an inspiration and I want to thank you for sharing this with us. What an amazing accomplishment.

  • The best garden railroad I have seen! Great job !

  • I'm starting a layout right now and i'm concerned about the trains running when ii only want one train running how do i prevent all the trains going at one time.

  • how many feet of track do you have also with wire, and how many trains do you have .I'd like to know

  • I have over 5,000 feeto of track with another 1,500 feet more to install. As far as the number of trains; 287 locomotives - 248 passenger cars - and last but not least, 4,000 pieces of rolling stock. I hope this answered your questions.

  • ça merite 5 etoiles.Vraiment du beau travail.

  • now i really caint wait till i win the Lotto,,heh,,heh,,then i will give ole Dennis some competition,,simply outstanding,,God Bless and keep it going

  • i want to come over

  • I've gotta' say that this is the finest American layout I've seen on Youtube & I bet Charlie Ro never puts you on hold ! I've added your clip to my "10,000 Garden Train Videos" playlist 1.

Each playslis has approx. 200 G-scale, garden train videos selected from youtube. Again, Thanks for all your postings.

  • brilliant. How many hours of love has been put into this layout? I give you 5/5.

  • Holy Smokes, I don''t have any idea. We started this thing in January 2004 and have worked on it steady 5 days a week for around 4 hours a day. So what ever that it is.

    Dennis

  • just saw this on PBS just 1 hour ago. It's very nice

  • The very first garden railroad my hubby showed me when he sucked me into the hobby was This one. it's possibly my personal most favorite layout. I wanted to come during the NGRC to visit but was unable to.

  • That has to be the most outstanding layout i've ever seen! Simply amazing.

  • WOW! What more can be said? Five stars aren't enough to rate this. Very well done!

  • VERY Cool! 5 Stars!

  • Wonderfully done, and you've provided me with plenty of inspiration for my own model railroad project. Thank you.

  • wow! Thats AWESOME!

  • The SP Geeps are awesome!

  • WOW!!!

  • Doing it Twice = Twice the Fun

    Laser Leveled...OK...You Win

  • The best G Scale anywhere, we will be in Prescott soon and taking the Grand Canyon train from Williams to the rim. It is about all that can top your efforts.

  • My friend hats off to you. Smoothness, quietness, realism mission accomplished. 5 stars is not enough. hopefully tracks ahead will come on in St.Louis this year.

  • Dennis sir, this is a wonderful tribute to perfection. I salute you in building something so magnificent and even more, the imagination of your dream goes not only to our son, but your Grand kids also. that's the best gift anyone can give. Just wonderful.

  • you should add signals and sound to your layout. I'm still trying to contemplate the size of this layout

  • that makes my backyard train look like a failed try ... :-) ... that is just one word ... WOW ....
