Would it work with my four pound kitten? Also does it move when the kitten is inside it? And how long do you think it will take for my kitten to use it? He was wary around his litter box when we got it, will he be able to figure out how to get inside?
@DeweyLu101 It says that it works on cats 5 to 15 pounds, so your kitten is still a bit too small. Maybe you should consider the LiiterMaid Elite litter box; I now have 2 of those litter boxes as well as this one. And that works using light sensors rather than a weight sensor, so the 4 pounds weight should not be an issue; and the Littermaid is less than half the price of this one. I also bought a Smart Scoop auto litter box to try out, but I've not set it up yet.
@leokimvideo If they were small enough (new borns), they would end up in the waste hopper. If they are a couple of weeks old, they would either not fit in the waste holes, or they would block it off, and the LR would not be able to close the waste door because it would feel the obstruction. All that aside, I would bet that the kittens would enjoy walking around inside it as it went through the spin cycle; I know that I would :)
@BeanMeister22 Uh, newborns are too small and do not have the motor skills to be able to get in. Newborns also cannot go to the bathroom on their own (and when they do go it is only urine) until they are a few weeks old anyway. I've raised multiple litters of kittens. And they wouldn't be able to fall in, if you'd actually listened to this guy's review, you'd know that it is programmed to NOT move when a cat is inside it. Anyway, who are you, Lord of the Cat Shit? Jeez....
@SageyBoo17 Hey moron! I am the guy doing this review...and I know all about newborn kittens; I used to volunteer at a animal shelter. Did you open that YT channel just to leave your witty coment here? Jeez...
@somedudeandacomp Yes it works purr-fectly on both urine and poop, but you must use a good quality clumping litter. If you use one that does not clump well, it will dirty up the inside walls of your Litter Robot.
The litter sifts into a compartment, and the solids continue on and dump into the waste hopper. I change out all the litter once a week, the same as I do with all of my other litter boxes. Just push the "empty" button, and it will all dump into the waste hopper, litter and all.
It turns 360 degrees so wouldnt the crap get smeared on the ceiling of the dome so the next time the cat goes in he'll have that on his fur.. In case your wondering why your furniture suddenly stinks like fecal matter
I saw that video that shows what you are describing here, and I have a couple of thoughts on it.
#1 You can clearly see the litter is not clumping properly, or he is using too little of it. So far I have not seen any of what his video shows.
#2 His cat looks a bit big for the Litter Robot and that could result in the cat waste not being properly buried; my big Siamese cat Peanut, is also too big.
#3 I am disinfecting the inside of mine once a week, and I have not seen that problem.
@Gyro911 It really is not a flaw, as the instruction manual clearly states that you need to use a high quality clumping litter; that would solve just about every complaint I have seen about this unit having waste on the inside walls. Do I wish it were bigger? Yes I do.
@Gyro911 Also, one thing we need to look at here, is that there are a lot of people who are just too lazy to properly care for their cats, and those people are apt to buy something like this and think it will solve everything, but this is by no means a maintenance free litter box, but I can go away for the weekend and it will be fine, without it I had to set out 6 extra litter boxes for my cats. Without this LR, I had to scoop 5 litter boxes, twice a day. Now I scoop 2 litter boxes once a day.
@edenbainbridge I did not notice the weight restrictions before I ordered it. As Peanut cannot use it in the auto mode, he can still use it if I turn the auto mode off, and run it manually. Though I do wish this came in a larger size, it is still very cool.
@leokimvideo That's a good question, but in my house there are so many other baby hazards around, that the kid will never make it to the litter box :)
For a baby, I guess you could just set it up somewhere where it could be isolated by a baby gate; cats can jump over the gate, babies can't. As for keeping toddlers out of it; if we could keep them out of the old litter boxes we were doing ok. But this will just shut down if there is more than 5 lbs on it when it tries to run multiple times.
@WORRO01 It was a little on the spendy side and buying it made things a little tight this month, but if it works and saves me some time, then it might be worth it. Currently I spend about 15 minutes a day cleaning the litter boxes, and then I swap them out and wash them every 2 weeks and that takes another 30 minutes. From what I've seen online about this unit, it is a good idea to wipe down the inside walls once a week, rather than the once a month the company recomends.
Also will Fresh Step work in it?

@DeweyLu101 If it's a clumping litter, that clumps good, then it will work.

@leokimvideo I'm thinking about running one of my mini cameras through it as it cycles, so we can get a poops-eye-view of how this works.

Does it dump all the litter? what about urine, does it work well for urine?

@somedudeandacomp and what happens if your cat delivers a litter of kittens in there, will they survive the spin cycle?
