@naptic most likely for safty. it trapped 182 mph from a dead stop in an 1/8th mile (660 ft) that is impressive to say the least. just think what kind of speed it could trap in the quarter. assuming it hasnt run out of gear yet.

A "hemi" is referred to as in the hemisficircle (how ever you spell it) dome in the head, now back in the 50 i wanna say chrysler trade marked the name "hemi" so other cars cannot say they have a hemi but most cars now a days do, honda for example has been using them for a very long time, now to tell a hemi type head is to see were the spark plugs go in at if the go in the center of the head then its a hemi....

Except Hemi (R) is a registered trademark owned by Chrysler. So technically the Supra engine is not a Hemi, it utilizes hemispherical cylinder heads... which I believe the RB series engines do too?

Either way it is not technically accurate to call a 2jz a Hemi. Lol.,

Just wacthed these guy race yesterday in Richmond Va very fast car the crew was very cool and i think they ran there fastest time 3.95 @186 and won the event a crew member said they are pushing 65 pounds of boost and 2100hp thats amazing and not only that but he was punishing the other drivers off the light Gary White is bad ass driver

Are you trying to say that the 2JZ has accomplished what the Hemi has in motorsport?

Because actually, the 2JZ is one of Toyota's least used powerplants as they favored the 3S-GTE and 1UZ in motorsport in road racing terms.

For drag racing, that's different story but the Hemi is still the dominant design and has been for 50 years.
