  • Hi john, is this possible with an audio 6?

  • @arnoldimike look im not sure maybe coz u need 2 inputs and the 3rd one u should be able to use as ur out to record in

  • @arnoldimike I think you'll find you can plug into your "Main" in (Audio 6) from your booth out (mixer), just need to configure it in settings. This is the video that taught me how to as well, Cheers John!

  • Hello everyone. IT IS POSSIBLE TO RECORD USING NI AUDIO 6 and IT IS POSSIBLE TO USE THE RECORD OUT ON YOUR AMP in the same way you would use the record out on your mixer.

  • Hi John, I don't have a mixer with record out or booth out, so I tried using the record out of my amp and connected it to the main in of my audio 6 dj....

it didn't work, it just recorded the time code. Is it to do with the record out of the amp or the fact it's an audio 6?

  • THIS TUTORIAL WAS AWESOME FOR THIS I WILL FUCKING SUBSCRIBE TO YOu!

  • 2 things...

Can I record at 320kbps rather than 1536kbps? I know how to do everything on the software just never found out if you can change the bit rate

Also when setting levels I advise everyone to take it down under the red and then a little more to leave room for effects as it sometimes increases the volume :)

  • Version 2 is out, and there is MUCH more confusion bc they changed the way they route a deck through...... A 4 deck tutorial for TSP2 using the xone 4D would be amazing

  • thanks dude!

    Heres what i did.

    1. RCA on the sound card in INPUT C (5\6), and knob next to it switched to LINE

    2. Traktor preferences: INPUT ROUTING section: Channel C- input 5 and 6

    3. Traktor pref. : RECORDING: source external, Channel C

    Thanks anyway.

when i tried to just mix internally aswell, with the settings changed to internal recording, no sound is being picked up (the meters in traktor don't have any . do you have any idea why traktor does not detect anything?

  • hey thanx for this video I was having trouble with recording but now Im on!!! quick question I've seen people Djing with Serato scratch pro and recording their mix with Traktor in the background,is there any chance to do the same playing with Rekordbox and recording with Traktor in the background,or playing with cd's and recording in Traktor,I'm asking you this because to be honest with you I don't like to use any interface to play,I just use reckordbox for the BPM and other awesome features.

  • what about if your using the audio 4 ? i cant get my head around it, its driving me nuts

  • whats the background music around 1:00-2:00 ?

  • John , cheers...been scratching my head over this and your the only video ive found that explains it the way i have my decks set up .once again thanks man!

  • can u record in serato ????

  • I've got a question for recording using the audio 8. Right now I have a Rane TTM 56S mixer with an Auxilary Output. I have plugged a RCA cable into the 7/8 slot of the audio 8, and the other end into an Auxilary Output slot. My Rane Mixer manual said that it the Aux output serves as a booth out and record out. Now my question is, why won't Traktor pick up the sound from my timecodes?

  • hey quick question -- if i was to set my mixer to record from the booth output how do i set up the preferences for that??

    i use a DXM09

  • @majestige u dont need to do anything in preferences for that

  • is the audio dj not directly connected with the pc?

  • great video john, thank alot, covered all the questions I needed answered!

  • Hey mate. I might be being a spanner, but can't get any levels appearing on the record levels. Done everything up to there. Any suggestions about what i might be doing wrong?

    Cheers

  • thanks man!!

  • i've followed exactly what you showed here but it doesn't work??? I've plugged my rcas in both channel c and d as well as had them go into my mixer through master 1 and 2 and even another channel just to see if it work??? WTF?

  • Guys please if anyone can help me out .. my setup is done but i dont have the booth thing on the back i'm using DJM 400, any ideas ?

  • is there any setting apart from the one in the video i mabye need to do?, am all new to computers

  • followed this vid perfectly trying to record and it doesent work any ideas? lol

  • awesome! thanks for summing this up. I found it more useful the the NI forums

  • just for reference... definately DON'T set your level as high as possible before clipping!!! you will definately clip if you do that (probably during your first mix) set it to record about half level.. and run it through a limiter... or master it in an audio editor later.. then you have headroom... and you should never clip during recording!

    ; )

  • good tutorial i was trying to figure it out on my own for at least a year and the year before learning the program i think im ready

  • How can i record using Traktor Pro and an external mixer my dj set with Audio 4 DJ?

  • @cristex you cant record external with audio 4, only internal

  • @cristex should be the same process, only the channel will be called something else because it's a different model. So prob wont be called CH D

  • @cristex Trying to do the same thing... cant seem to find an answer.. damn it..i knew i should of got the audio 8 instead.

  • nice one!

  • hey Jhon i dont know if u could help me... i want to record through the REALPLAYER GOLD 11 so if u could help reply me plz thx...

  • where would i put the cable to record in a djm 300 as it does not have the booth input?

  • No traktor 3 records but you can't use timecoded CDs with it - thanks for the vid mate but my trouble was with ID tags that seems to be sorted now

  • Thank you!!

  • If you're using M-Audio Fast Track Pro, then you only have channel A and Channel B. Both of these channels take 1/4 inch, so you need the RCA to 1/4 inch stereo to record in stereo through the input. Also, you can record external and internal at the same time. Not bad for a DJ on a budget.

  • hi john good vid mate, have you gone down the using a controller route? Was thinking about getting a xone 1d, until i found out my traktor scratch pro was a pirate, not at all happy mate!!

  • its happening alot lately pirate copys showing up . i used a vci for a bit and didnt like it . but i have heard good reveiws on the xone 1. but i dont know any club djs using controllers, so i stick with the scratch version , so it looks like im a dj . and not checking my emails. uknow wat i mean.

  • of course, i just find with scratch pro that there is alot of mouse work, so the controller could be used for loading decks, setting loops and controlling effects, check out richie hawtins setup on you tube.

  • did he say you have 4 dicks? around 45 seconds

  • decks.

  • just like my music teacher said, Red is the color of blood, and bleeding is not good!! good vid

  • You also have to remember that your booth out doesnt usually get the signal from the mic, the mic input only goes out through the master out....so it wont record you talking on the mic if its through booth out.

    cheers

  • do you have to get traktor scratch pro to record mixes?

  • But the booth monitor is mono if aim not mistaken!? Some one els???

  • The Booth is a twin RCA Output (Red and White) meaning it is in Stereo.

If you decided to connect one moniter speaker up, then you would get mono sound.

  • serato is a little tricky.... you have to get an RCA to stereo 1/4 inch adapter.

so it would go like this

MIXER record out> RCA >1/4in ADAPTER > MIC IN on serato box

once you have that wired,go in the serato software on the top left of your browser menu there is a little record button with a gain adjustment that records the mic input from your box. test it and make sure your levels are right and you should be golden. It records into your scratch lives recordings folder

  • Standard CDs can hold up to 80 minutes of audio (700 MB of data), which means that 2038MB of WAV equals just under 4 hours.

  • As far as I know Serato doesn't allow you to record internally.

To record a Serato mix you would have to route an output channel on your mixer to a free input channel on your soundcard. If your using the SL1 box both your inputs would be taken by the turntables, so your only option would be to use a second soundcard or use the line in on your computer and record with something like Audacity.

  • Comment removed

  • A piece of advice for those trying to record. he hooked into the booth to adjust the levels (i use my booth output for "my booth")....... it much nicer in my opinion if you set input "c" from mic to line and use input "c" and you can see the record level input on the audio dj 8 itself and also adjust it from the audio dj 8 itself aswell

    cheers

  • Cheers for the video, really helpful, but could you tell me how you create a dj mix with divided tracks? So a mix which is'nt just one long mix, cheers

  • WOW, that was the most informative video i've seen yet on tracktor
