The hackles will appear somewhat oversized in comparison to most contemporary flies. You're looking for feathers with barbs about 1.5x the gape. Richard tends to use furnace and brown interchangeably, usually furnace for the body hackle and brown for the head. Typically the bulk strung saddle he buys is brown, but some feathers turn out to be furnace.
Is this Natural BuckTail or is dyed Gray?

It's natural, actually hair from a couple different tails that have slightly different shades, amounts of waviness, etc., stacked together.
