yup he was.....a little bad time for Warnie had started...it was this time when his connection with bookies were made public by ACB.....& it all culminated in his dropping from WI series a few months later ...but then ....he bounced back in WCup'99. :)
slats and mark waugh when on song are probably the most beautiful batsmen to watch. junior had elegance and slats had flamboyance and how bout tubs he definitly wasnt the prettiest batsman to see
I remember watching that second innings century from Michael Slater at the ground. He just couldn't be stopped that day. It was eerie seeing his wife clapping him seeing as their marriage only had about three years to go at that point. Sad story.
What a catch by Mark Waugh, one of the best lol! If any Indians are watching though, they'll claim that Mark Waugh's catch wasnt a catch because the ball touch the ground when he landed like when Ponting claimed a catch in Sydney.
@Jazzaaaaa1 Those Indians need to f****** grow up and realise that we were just too good for them. Every time we beat them they claimed we were cheating LOL
@nbb1603 Almost 1/2 of the catches I see the player catches it and lands on top of the ball. Brett Lee took a c&b in the 1st Test of the 05 Ashes off Strauss and did the same thing. You can even see it on Youtube. Yet in that Sydney Test vs India when Ponting does it at batpad, they say its cheating.
@karthikkahnkahn but Waugh's catch here was out, no arguments, Lee c&b Strauss in the 1st test of 05 Ashes (Check youtube) landing the same way. The key is that the ball didnt bounce, and he had full control when he landed.
Law 32 (Caught) 1. Out Caught: 'The striker is out Caught if a ball delivered by the bowler, not being a No ball, touches his bat without having previously been in contact with any fielder, and is subsequently held by a fielder as a fair catch before it touches the ground.'

@Jazzaaaaa1 ball should not touch the ground when you try to catch the ball. If it does that means it is not out. What ponting caught was not out.
