  • What does 72-12-1 means? o.o

  • 72-12-1 vs Rookie

    LMAO !

  • lol @ 7:11

  • damn. chef love killed it! the progression of chilis in TEA??? STOP IT!!!!

  • I like how they do shots, and wear Stetsons.

You can't really not win after you do that. :P

  • Sorry, but a professional chef wearing a cowboy hat in a kitchen ? that's just not done....

  • One of my favorite episodes. I was really hoping we'd see one of them use a Bhut Jolokia chili but that may be too hot even for Iron Chef.

  • Morimoto takes a bite of a magical Dog-Transforming Jalapegno....

    WOOF!

  • bahahha took a bite of a jalepeno....whatsamatta iron chef? too hot for ya? lol

  • 7:09 *spit* *spit* *spit*......*gag*

  • The original Iron Chef is sooooo much better than the American one!

  • @NedSCUBAyah fk man...why u spoil it

  • Pretty lame excuse the challenger used when he picked Morimoto. Why not challenge yourself and battle an Iron Chef that has the same background in cooking so it actually pushes you to create new and inventive dishes. But I know Morimoto can pull another one out.

  • @NedSCUBAyah Nah Morimoto was the ballsy choice, but he got really lucky that he got nothing but American peppers.

  • Imagine if Morimoto chewed on the Habanero...he might've had to grab a shot from the challenger to rinse his mouth out.

  • i would have loved to see this guy in battle bourbon.

  • The chairman must have been expecting him to pick Flay when he chose the secret ingredient.

  • That was hilarious when Morimoto tasted the jalepeno. Lucky for him it wasn't the habenero he tried though.

  • lol Morimoto is a gangsta

  • This is fucked up. It's like if the secret ingredient was soy sauce. Gave the challenger a HUGE advantage.

  • Hahas xD ! this is funny :P "morimoto vs love" xD !

  • I heard they found a pepper that 4x hotter than a habornero

  • @RACHEL02189 called the ghost chili

  • Hmm, I never knew capsaicin was alcohol-soluble

  • i know that food and ingredients can unite the world, but my goodness having such varied cooking styles between the two chefs is going to be veeeeeery interesting!

  • 7:06 poor Morimoto-san

  • Can you upload battle opah?

  • @Usukie Hahhaahha...read your comment quickly and thought you said Battle Oprah~!!

  • hey its the guy from top chef masters season 1

  • its a good thing he didnt put bhut jolokias in there(if those are chilies)

  • @MrNaglest12 They are chili's, however the Bhut Jolokia may not have been around in America when this episode aired. The Scotch Bonnet/Hananero was the spiciest chili known for quite a while until the Bhut Jolokia or Ghost Chili came around.

  • @landis69

And now there is even hotter chili, Naga Viper :=

  • 77777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777777!

  • rigged!!! lol

  • A real westen gentleman would never wear his hat indoors.

  • Poor Morimoto, when he saw those chillies.

  • lol at the shots. something new there

  • lol i wished morimoto tasted the habanero.

  • Why does Alton look like a homeless man who just woke up from a park bench?

  • Lol fail Morimoto xD......good job tasting the serrano :D

  • The music segments are very similar to the ones you hear on Hell's Kitchen.

  • that's not a jalapeño (the one morimoto bites) it's a serrano pepper. min:7:05

The serrano is said to be about 5 times hotter than the jalapeño.

  • I love this show!! ^ ^

Please anyone post the next iron chef. I love that show too!! ^ ^

  • Guys, it would be muchly appreciated if you would refrain from discussing the outcome in the comments for part 1. Some of us want to be surprised.

  • my husband loves you. muahh

  • gotta have your own sous chefs. there's no way they can use new guys and make those dishes in an hour

  • Who picks the main ingredient? I don't think they could have picked a better one for the challenger. That's like giving a Chinese challenger rice for the main ingredient. That's actually funny. But 2 questions: Do the challengers bring their own sues chefs with them and have they ever made a iron chef vegetarian? For all us viewers who are vegetarian?

  • They have their own sous chefs

  • Well, Chilies are used SOOOO much in western cooking

  • Morimoto was robbed for sure.

  • this is one of my favorites! its hilarious when morimoto bites that jalapeño Un.n thank you! ^^

and AWM05 is right, i think this iron chef is the best of the 5

  • morimoto should have won ....

  • Morimoto's stats of his win/lose/ties aren't 72-12-1 it's actually only 16-12-1. The screwed up on the typograph for him. He wasn't even choson 85 times is u add up all the stats. Those are only American stats. If you added the ones with the original Iron Chef Japan,he would have more than 85. A lot more.

  • ive seen 5 of these where morimoto is in the battle and in every one he loses. how many of these do i have to watch to see him win one? he seems to be doing very poorly in Iron Chef America.

  • @MyFutureExWifeIs1 Battle asparagus is a really good one for Morimoto. beatiful dishes.

    @mchan2048 thank you for posting!!

  • look at his records! He won 72 and 12 losses. Apparently, there might be more of his losing video than winning video in you tube XD.

  • @MyFutureExWifeIs1

It seems only the victories against Morimoto have been uploaded here. But he has a higher winning rank that Cat Cora and Bobby Flay.

I'll be honest though, I think the score were skewed for this one, Morimoto created some very innovative uses of some of the chilies, but somehow scored an 8/15 for originality? He outscored him on both the Taste and Plating though.

  • I just saw this battle entirely, and i have to say, one of the rare times where the judging made me go "huh?" They all go "ooo never had this before" yadda yadda with Morimoto but give him an 8 for originality..made no sense to me.

  • Indeed. This was discussed before in the final episode, but for some reason comments were removed. I wonder why.

I figure Morimoto lost due to Steingarten - his intro didn't provide enough hot air to inflate his enormous ego, so he was upset.

  • "Our schecret ingredient. The theme on which our schefs will offer their shpeculate variaschions. Today's schecret ingredient ish.... Chileeees !!"

  • Wow, talk about unlucky... well, lucky for Chef Love.

  • its possible he lost cause of the differences between the tastes of japanese and american. I remember watching the original iron chef and thinking a lot of the dishes were really weird/unappealing looking. And then iron chef america has much more familiar/appetizing looking dishes.

  • n80006447: That's probably it. Something else I've noticed--at least from Alton Brown's commentaries on Morimoto's battles--is that Morimoto has a few signature culinary moves that define his dishes, and that might have worked against him--even though using those moves on a theme ingredient might be the first time anybody's ever seen it done.

  • the american had more exp with chilies i'm guessing

  • lol his last name is love o-o

  • this is a nice episode but can you upload farmer's market battle and red fish battle

  • I'll see if I can get them on ... =O)

  • @mchan2048 what about the black fish battle?

  • @mchan2048 Okay but can you upload Battle Apples?

  • I think Morimoto lost because he didn't know his chilies. But oh welll ...

  • i can understand wat u mean sometimes

morimoto loses a lot so its easier for the judges to give it to him

salmon battle that morimoto lost had me starting to suspect shi

  • This is one of my favorite episodes, except for the verdict. The judges say things like 'wow, I've never had anything like this before' about some of Morimoto's offerings, but what sort of score does he get in originality? Sheesh.

  • I think part of the 'originality' bit, was that morimoto had really just the 'jelly/consomme' that was very original. But many of the other things were very standardized japanese style. Sushi, Sashimi, Shabu Shabu, etc, with minimal 'change' to them, outside of the chilies added. Whereas Love played around with things a lot more, especially with the tuna 'ribs' and such

  • rayliotta1: What the hell?

How the hell can you possibly say "you can always count on Americans to rig reality shows" when Morimoto won 56.8% of his battles on ICA?

If tt was "rigged" like you claim "Americans can be reliably counted on" to pull, he wouldn't have won ANY matches!

Man, I understand wigging out over the way the judges screwed him on originality, but stereotyping Americans as cheaters?

    You're a jerk.

  • i give you five stars

  • nice uploading! could you upload the battle of the masters? thanks!

  • Best show on television. Thanks a ton for posting!

  • mchan2048 you're a legend. Thank you so much for these.

  • I'm still confused as to why he/TPTB didn't pick Flay or Cora given his style and background

  • because morimoto is the best.

  • @LordCirque He must be a real cowboy cause he chose the real Iron Chef... Cat Cora ahah please I could probably beat her.

  • Woohoo! Thank you for uploading!

  • xDD poor Morimoto! I felt so bad when he bit the jalepeno. Thank you ever so much, as usual, for posting! I check every day to see updates from you. <3 God bless.

  • why feel sad? He's an iron chef and anything happens LOL.

  • @mchan2048 Yeah, it was inevitable. One of the things that makes Morimoto different is that he spends more time actually tasting things. You just knew he was gonna do that. :)
