@zepps88 Actually not really, Bush was far more of a Democrat than Ron Paul. The republican position traditionally has been smaller government, lower taxes and peace abroad. All Bush did was cut taxes, but he doubled the size of the federal government and brought us into a War of Aggression (Iraq). Go look at some classical republicans like Grover Cleveland, Calvin Coolidge or Eisenhower. Even Reagan never went to war, he simply built up our defense.

@drvn8 Going back as far as Cleveland the party's actually stood for near polar opposites on some positions. back in the late 1800's Democrats were more the small government party, whereas the Republicans now claim (though few adhere too) small government positions. The change happened in the early 1900's in the time of T.R., Taft and Wilson.

@zepps88 Actually not really, Bush was far more of a Democrat than Ron Paul. The republican position traditionally has been smaller government, lower taxes and peace abroad. All Bush did was cut taxes, but he doubled the size of the federal government and brought us into a War of Aggression (Iraq). Go look at some classical republicans like Grover Cleveland, Calvin Coolidge or Eisenhower. Even Reagan never went to war, he simply built up our defense.

@drvn8 Going back as far as Cleveland the party's actually stood for near polar opposites on some positions. back in the late 1800's Democrats were more the small government party, whereas the Republicans now claim (though few adhere too) small government positions. The change happened in the early 1900's in the time of T.R., Taft and Wilson.

One of the main downfalls of Ron Paul is he is too intelligent for most voters to relate to. Most people that vote base it on something stupid and trivial like abortion or race instead of looking at the overall big picture every candidate had to offer.
