as long as the leader doesnt go around the country appointing women to meet a quota of womens candidates i support fully the liberals efforts to improve the lives of women
dion had it wrong by promising a quota of womens candidates and when it didnt happen naturally, try to magically fix the problem by short circuiting democracy
this is how you do it, empower women to be the best they can be and if that means political office, great, if it doesnt, we should ask the question why

To clarify, the Liberal Party has had a minimum quota for women candidates for several years - this was NOT a specific policy of Dion.
Prime Ministers Chretien and Martin also appointed women as candidates to try and reach the quota.
