Jesus, where the hell have these guys been... I was looking at Soilwork on Wiki and stumbled across Scarve. This is BRUTAL!!! Can't wait for the new album...
It's spelled ScarVE not scarF you dumbfuck. And they're not native English speakers anyway so it most likely wouldn't have anything to do with a scarf.
@SexyTriggerMan omg this is the dumbest thing i ever heard in a long time, how can you even compare them, scarve is on a totally different level and play a completely different style, listen to a whole album of them and tell me if you still think that way,Log is cool but seriously scarve is much better in every musical aspect.....
Basically this is death metal with some thrash, groove and industrial elements and some technical death metal tricks too, so it's kinda similar to SYL. If you have to label it then call it extreme metal or modern death metal. Or you can just forget about the label and enjoy the music.
guys relax we dont have to name anything. many good bands have their own labels. This is a kind of death. Maybe it has something to do with melocid death but its not
Seriously even the gory death metal band Autopsy had a higher pitch of growl like check out Death dude. Jeez if anything it's all these modern "guttural" bands that think just because they growl so low that makes them a good death metal band (a word to upcoming death metal acts: you won't get any more "metal-points" [who's counting anyway?] for making your logo completely indecipherable)
@explodefaceman - shhhhhhhhhhush up and listen to this amazing band Scarve instead of sperming words that just don't make sense and seriously get put down.
@snakeskinsaddle - dude i was actually trying to point out the folly of trying to say this band isn't "proper death metal" because of the growls, that's just dumb because growls don't define death metal
@explodefaceman yeah you re right but scarve isnt one of those bands, they re not focused on brutality, they re sense of writing unique melodies is what makes them stand out of the masses of lame metal bands
industrial is no where's near techno..go back to the 60's and 70's for that shit..industrial is like Rammstein..Fear Factory..well those are the only two prevalent bands i can think of right now..lol
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
omg BFMV are playing at metaltown this summer, and im going. if would bottle the shit out of them but too bad there are people that actually like them, and they would probably kick my ass
I fail to see the point... even if Black Sabbath is one of my favorite bands, next to Pantera. I mean, fuck, Brazil even has some good shit( Sepultura)
Anyway, it IS idiotic to base the music one listens to on region alone. My reply was proof that great bands don't ONLY come from America (As was implied, if not stated, in an earlier comment).
best french metal band ever (and i dont say that because im french) and one of the best band in the world, im so sad that dirk, guillaume and pierrick left the band, above for dirk to go make shits in soilwork :(
ha ha wtf mate! just cuz your bin educated in your own country and know everything about your own country dont show your ignorance about other countries okay?
fuck. no. just.. no. absolutely not. the stuff he does in scarve is mind-blowing, while his drumming for soilwork is little else than basic metalcore schtick.
Couldnt agree more. I loved their vocals in their original bands. This new change is for the worst. Michael left for 'family reasons' tho, so i guess there was no stopping that.
fuckin' great and funny^^! But Guilame's voc's were better in Scarve. But in my opinion, Mnemic is/was better then Scarve - especially with Michael Bogballe :(
Scarve are better musicians than Mnemic but Mnemic are far SUPERIOR songwriters. And the vocals in Mnemic completely own Scarve's - with Michael or Guillaume.
I guess everyone has opinions. Scarve are all good players. However its not THAT technical. Mnemic tunes are all filled with polyrhyhtms and very strange timings. I dunno, to me that makes Mnemic better musicians in my eyes.
Well thats just not true. Definitions: 1) Polymeter or Polyrhythm is the use of two metric frameworks simultaneously, or in regular alternation. Examples include Béla Bartók's String Quartet No. 2. Leonard Bernstein's "America" (from West Side Story) employs alternating measures of 6/8 (compound duple) and 3/4 (simple triple). This gives a strong sense of two, followed by three.
(2) Polyrhythm is the simultaneous sounding of two or more independent rhythms. Polyrhythms can be distinguished from irrational rhythms, which can occur within the context of a single part; polyrhythms require at least two rhythms to be played concurrently, at least one of which is typically an irrational rhythm.
I can tell you right now Mnemic (and Meshuggah) do both of these techniques. If you still dont agree ill go take the time to pick out examples of each technique used by Mnemic and point you in their direction for reference.
I know what a polyrhythm is, i use them in my music, ive been studying theory for over seven years for the standup bass and guitar. Meshuggah use both polyrythms and polymetrics. Which are meters of the song being different (IE. the time signature) but complimenting each other. Mnemic does it to the base extent, there isnt one polyrhythm ive heard in any of their music. You want a good example listen to Morbid Angel's Heretic album, each song has great examples of it.
I don't understand how you can blatantly say 'its not there'. Ive been studying music for several years too and wrote my end of year thesus on Polyrhythms for my degree. Not that showing off intellect through qualifications should even matter here. On youtube i even once seen Mnemics drummer doing a 'Polyrhythm work out' by demostrating parts of Mnemic songs. So he's a liar and i dont know my ass from my elbow is what your saying i guess.
Ive only heard a few songs from them so i havent gotten a full spectrum of it but what i heard theres no Polyrhythms. But also i only heard the videos. Ill take a closer look and check out some of the actual music cause audio on the videos is fucked up. Im not calling you a liar but i havent heard it.
Oh well thats much more understandable. You'll not find what your looking for in the new album AT ALL by the way - i was dissappointed in it. Hey recommend some good Morbid Angel polyrhythm tracks to me please. If ya dont mind dude.
Sure thing, ummm lets see "Beneath The Hollow" "Curse The Flesh" "Secured Limitations" and "Invocation Of The Continual One". Whats a good Mnemic album to find their polrhytmic stuff.
what is polyrhythm and how is it used in these metal bands? is it two different drum rhtyhms played at the same time? can you give me an example song of that?
It's when instruments in a band are playing different rhythms but getting it to link up at certain points. A common example would be drums playing 4/4 time and guitars playing 3/4 time.

Learn to read before posting.
RevengeOfTheWronged 3 years ago
Excellent, that is what I assumed it was about.
Lamb Of God, Pantera, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer... Black Sabbath was influenced by American Blues... should I go on?
psychokittyboy 3 years ago
So they were influenced, they still CREATED it.
RevengeOfTheWronged 3 years ago
Indeed, they did. As I said, they are one of my favorite bands. I own all their albums... even if they started to suck once Ozzy left.
My point remains, no one region on earth has the "best" metal. It is idiotic to base what you will listen to on the region they come from...
though I can't believe while mentioning awesome Europe bands, you missed Old In Flames and Motorhead.
psychokittyboy 3 years ago
