Like many others, I have all the vinyl albums and played them over and over and over. Deaf School were way ahead of their time. Saw them three times live and absolutely loved the act. Funny enough, my band Team 23 supported Madness a couple of times and I never realised Suggs was married to Bette. I'd love to see the band again. If you get the chance...check out the MP3 downloads and the music will speak for itself.
@oldpunk1965 was there that night myself.....first time I'd ever been to been to Barbarellas - but well worth it! We all dressed up in 'period' clothes (as was the fashion at the time) and one of my friends wore pyjamas with a tie! great times....
They are all available on cd with bonus tracks etcnow, out on Cherry Red..I got them..nice booklet with lot of unseen pics..also the Anthology is good for all tracks ..all on Amazon.
seen them 77ish as you said thirty f***n year ago now...Oh dear but had a mad thought about them. I used to have there album something with a 50s film theme cover. Tried to rebuy about 20 years ago when CDs came out.. In fact Sod it im off to Amazom to check it out. Mad but can see how space's influences
These guys are the nuts...! One of the best gigs I've been to was at (I think) Mr Digby's in Birkenhead - must have been about 1976/77.Bloody 30 odd years ago but seems like yesterday. Does any one out there remember the gig?. I may have got the club wrong so doenlighten me.
Could be a better thread than 'friends re-united' this if anyone picks upon it!
the opening of this took me back to Matthew Street more than 30 years ago!...and the Sphinx Bar, the Pentagon, as well as Rhythm and Blues and Beyond at the Metro Club (I was in the crowd when they took the photo on the inner sleeve for 2nd Honeymoon).
Their web site doesn't appear to be live...any idea when they're next reuniting???
Journalist, author and founder of Mojo Paul Du Noyer described them thus: " In the whole history of Liverpool music two bands matter most, one is The Beatles and the other is Deaf School."
