They don't really prove that their knives are "better" than other knives (pretty much any steel knife sharpened properly can cut sides of beef etc. like they do in their videos) and rely on macho imagery to sell their products.

My only concern is how much room it takes up, say in a pocket. I carry keys, a cell phone, a wallet, and a knife (SOG Trident), and that takes up a lot of room. If these units are small, I would be interested in them.

I've got a pepper spray with the same mechanism as the keychain one. After a year or so it started to unlock itself in my pocket so you might want to occasionally check that your spray is still locked - however it was not an Inferno one. I also carry a larger backup spray where I keep my wallet. Luckily, I never needed either.
Sadly, even a pepperspray can't protect you when your attacker is right next to you and has a knife ready - in that case, being cooperative is most likely your best bet.
here in my state a gang of 4 people robbed a gas station with inferno, no kidding. i saw the tape and recognized the can. they hit the clerk and the cop who was there and both of them went down. they got away with nothing tho and the clerk quit becuz of the pain of the spray lol

@cutlerylover Regarding the pen unit, it would also be a good idea to draw an arrow with a sharpie pointing towards the outlet because relying solely on the direction of the cap seems hazardous as it can change direction in your pocket.

As a police officer in southern California, I can testify the effectiveness of pepper spray. It's not a tool reserved just for girls, every male officer on the department uses it because it's a really effective less-than-lethal weapon.
I bought 2 of the keychain units, both of them were awful. Both failed to release "foam" for more than half a second, and the rest was mist. It failed to meet the distance cited in ads. Not even close.
Im not disagreeing with your video, but letting y'all know that I had 2 of the keychain ones fail to meet adequate performance levels. I tired Sabre Red, and I couldnt be happier. Fox labs is also excellent.
Anyways, be sure to buy 2 unit, and test 1 of them to know what you are dealing with.

If I could only cary one item with me, I'd rather go for a Taser. The problem with pepper spray is that it has a limited effective target area, and relies on causing pain. If somebody is drunk or drugged up, pain will affect their behavior less. Still, I think pepper spray is a good item to carry with you (legally) when possible. I'd cary a gun, knife, taser, and pepper spray on me if I could, but of course I live in Canada, so all I've got are my fists. Lucky Americans actually have rights.

@hoyKEBIN i think any option you can find to effectively carry and defend yourself with is a good option. If you can and feel comfortable carry a gun, do it. If you'd rather use non-lethal force, go with one of these cans. one thing i will say for sure is that i don't think it's going to do you that much good in your camera bag in the case of you getting mugged. would be better to have it somewhere you can deploy it quickly.
hey just a heads up earlier in your vid you commented that you liked the turn style pepper spray but you wanted a larger volume SABRE (a good pepper spray company) makes large cans with the turn n spray type cans i believe they go to 3.5 oz . and with the pistol grip its usually better to leave the yellow tag on unless you are going to frequently be using it the tag is made to be broken when you pull the pin (like a fire extinguisher) great video like all of your videos keep em comin
Any idea of the amount of sprays/total spray time you'll get from the keychain size? I'll try it out as soon as my order gets here with the inert, but it would be nice to know someone else's experience.

You can order these units directly from Cold Steel. I just ordered 2 keychain units and 2 small pocket units from Cold Steel's toll-free number. As long as you are in a legal state, which I am, it only takes about 5 minutes. Just an FYI for anyone looking to order the Inferno OC.
In Canada only Bear and Dog Repellent sprays are legal. Look at getting a Kubotan in Canada or carry an aluminum Surefire Flashlight like the 6P or E2D.
In NJ You can not have any more than 3/4 ounces of pepper spray by weight. Looks like you are limited to the key ring canister or pen unit. Pepper Spray is legal in NJ you just cant have more than 3/4 ounces.

Hey Jeff, you know....A bear has the most sensitive nose in the animal kingdom, believe me peper spray is the way to go for bear defence (besides a 12 GA or a rifle). I have personally encountered bears in the wild, but I have never had to defend myself. Bears are typically more afraid of you than you are of them. Anyway I would spray a bear if I had to 1st and if that didn't do it I guess I would have to shoot it.....(in a defensive situation ofcourse).
This past summer I was the victim of a home invasion, and as personal protection pepper spray is not available where I'm from I'm sure it was BEAR MACE used, but have been pepper sprayed as well. The stuff you have there, looks stronger like the mace, and I advise you, DO NOT voluntarily take a blast of that stuff. I say this not because of it's incapacitating effect, but the 2 weeks of burning I endured. Look forward to the video if you follow through.

As a police officer in southern California, I can testify the effectiveness of pepper spray. It's not a tool reserved just for girls, every male officer on the department uses it because it's a really effective less-than-lethal weapon.

I bought 2 of the keychain units, both of them were awful. Both failed to release "foam" for more than half a second, and the rest was mist. It failed to meet the distance cited in ads. Not even close.
Im not disagreeing with your video, but letting y'all know that I had 2 of the keychain ones fail to meet adequate performance levels. I tired Sabre Red, and I couldnt be happier. Fox labs is also excellent.
Anyways, be sure to buy 2 unit, and test 1 of them to know what you are dealing with.

If I could only cary one item with me, I'd rather go for a Taser. The problem with pepper spray is that it has a limited effective target area, and relies on causing pain. If somebody is drunk or drugged up, pain will affect their behavior less. Still, I think pepper spray is a good item to carry with you (legally) when possible. I'd cary a gun, knife, taser, and pepper spray on me if I could, but of course I live in Canada, so all I've got are my fists. Lucky Americans actually have rights.

@hoyKEBIN i think any option you can find to effectively carry and defend yourself with is a good option. If you can and feel comfortable carry a gun, do it. If you'd rather use non-lethal force, go with one of these cans. one thing i will say for sure is that i don't think it's going to do you that much good in your camera bag in the case of you getting mugged. would be better to have it somewhere you can deploy it quickly.

hey just a heads up earlier in your vid you commented that you liked the turn style pepper spray but you wanted a larger volume SABRE (a good pepper spray company) makes large cans with the turn n spray type cans i believe they go to 3.5 oz . and with the pistol grip its usually better to leave the yellow tag on unless you are going to frequently be using it the tag is made to be broken when you pull the pin (like a fire extinguisher) great video like all of your videos keep em comin

Also just FYI, You can carry Pepper Spray in NY, Mass, Michigan and WI.
NY You must buy it from a licensed Firearms dealer or pharmacy.
In Mass you must apply for a restricted firearms ID Card.
In Mass you cant carry more than 2% OC Spray (Get some Fox Labs)
In WI YOu can have up to 10% Pepper Spray with no UV Dye.

In Canada only Bear and Dog Repellent sprays are legal. Look at getting a Kubotan in Canada or carry an aluminum Surefire Flashlight like the 6P or E2D.

In NJ You can not have any more than 3/4 ounces of pepper spray by weight. Looks like you are limited to the key ring canister or pen unit. Pepper Spray is legal in NJ you just cant have more than 3/4 ounces.

Also if it's made for pussies and women....why does every police department in the country issue pepper spray? Hey Jeff, you know....A bear has the most sensitive nose in the animal kingdom, believe me peper spray is the way to go for bear defence (besides a 12 GA or a rifle). I have personally encountered bears in the wild, but I have never had to defend myself. Bears are typically more afraid of you than you are of them. Anyway I would spray a bear if I had to 1st and if that didn't do it I guess I would have to shoot it.....(in a defensive situation ofcourse).

This past summer I was the victim of a home invasion, and as personal protection pepper spray is not available where I'm from I'm sure it was BEAR MACE used, but have been pepper sprayed as well. The stuff you have there, looks stronger like the mace, and I advise you, DO NOT voluntarily take a blast of that stuff. I say this not because of it's incapacitating effect, but the 2 weeks of burning I endured. Look forward to the video if you follow through.

Now it was Australia day (probly the equivelent of independance day) and on Australia day it's considerd tradition that you drink Beer. so there are lots of drunk drivers. now while the driver was being checked i thought id check out what the cop had on his belt. WELL! first thing i noticed coz it stuck out and was MASSIVE was his revolver (i dunno what kind) than he had some pepperspray and a metel calapsoble batton. there was like 8 of them for 3 cars. DO YOU NEED THAT MUCH PROTECTION!

I like the idea of the pen, but I'm not sure about the deployment, I think I'd be likely to shoot myself or off target or even break the neck of the spray tube.

hey jeff nice review,just wana tell all of you guys that i used a pepper spray in a club and my friends and i ended up caught in it aswell as the targets.. so its not really perfect to just go spraying around definetely not with the bigger one if to use make sure you will hit just the targeted person or people

@tonyleonheart Inferno uses a pepper gel, not a fog which is what I assume you used. Gel is pretty awesome since it is a viscous targeted nasty burning stream :)
