Hi, I am just about to start building a model railway in my dads garage loft, i'm just getting information and researching stuff just now before i start building. Can anyone tell me what the grey stuff under the track is? i think its the underlay you can buy in rolls of 5m. but not 100% sure. looks brilliant. any aditional tips are welcome! :-)

its ballast and you can get it in a grey/white powder form from many model shops try hornby skaledale

ballast m8 just like on a real railway its allways nice to give a railway the finishing touches
