  • @AnonymousPopper that's bullshit!!! We don't do that, and we're not poor. I'm black and I am underweight.

Damn, you white people can be really annoying sometimes

  • @LaurenLikesLizzards Its ok to be racist to white peopple but to other races NOPE

    nice

  • the reason why african americans are likely to be obese is because they are poor and are forced to eat nutrition void crap like mcdonalds and KFC

  • Don't worry , be happy , obesity girls !

You have the right to be obesity !

  • @huynhminhtri to be obiece

    good lord

  • BMI is unreliable.

  • Mine is 16.07 im 15. :((((( im realy worried

  • @SophiaVIP

that seems normal. no need to worry

  • @TheEpicLEMONpie okay thanks :)))!!! i actually went to the Doctor and even they said im fine :)

  • My bmi is 20

  • @MELLAD4 like there are people destroying their bodies to fit a standard that society projects that is impossible to reach. Oh and new studies coming out saying that obesity may have genetic causes. But of course we should vilify them because they are disgusting in sight and it's totally in their power to "just eat right and exercise" Also, did you know that there ARE fat people that can and do eat healthy and exercise but can't lose weight. Look up The Obesity Myth and HAES.

  • @WeatherMondacicci I used to be 210lbs at 5'6 and now I weigh 138lbs. I was fat since I was an infant. You know how I lost it? I stopped eating shit food, and ate less. Not even exercised more, just ATE LESS. I used the same bullshit excuses to justify why I couldn't lose weight before and I stayed fat because of it. And when I realized they were bullshit, I dropped 72lbs. Funny how that works. How is not being obese impossible? Humans did it for millions of years before.

  • @MELLAD4 Right because yelling at them is going to help their self esteem and it's not enough that the media is already demonizing them and making them monsters. It's not that there are other factors that can make a person fat, such as meds and health problems. It's not like fat people are already ridiculed enough by people like you who apparently get orgasms of bullying people because they are different. It's not like fat people are humans too and have feelings. It's not like...

  • mine's 19.8, and i still think i should weigh less. you fat people are disgusting.

  • @melovebirds - cough -

    anorexic

    ;DD

  • @OmGitsMarijaME im not anorexic, and its not funny to say things like that. some people die from anorexia.

  • .1 away from not being overweight. Fuck.

  • This was a boring video.

  • MINE IS A 23.4 BUT I ALSO HAVE MUSCLE MASS

  • YAY! mine is 21.3! I'm not fat MWAHAHAHAAH

  • PLEASE everyone BEWARE the #1 weight loss pill is putting people in the hospital Please type in JILLIAN MICHAELS THE TRUTH please help spread the word and maybe we can save a few lives thank you

  • im obese and i love it

  • My bmi is 27 and I only have a little tummy

  • How to figure out your bmi: Google.

  • actually hispanics are very petite.

  • i`m from the netherlands, just came back from the USA (holidays) and in 2,4 weeks i counted 854 fat people :D INSANE

  • Because the Hispanic and black populations eat mostly fast food,if they don't cook for themselves.

  • If your a bodybuilder bmi is fairly useless. My bmi turns out to be 38.5 even though my waist is 44% of my height. These people with 35 bmi that have 3x the waist of me must have incredible body fat precentages on the order of 50%+

  • @Htown20XX My dad has a friend who has 3% body fat. He weighs 175 and is 5'9. According to BMI he is overweight but is in terrific shape.

  • @tigerfanfanatic72 3%?! I'm sure you meant 30!

  • @EllEiEllE No 3%. This guy is fucking ripped as hell.

  • @Htown20XX I agree..if you have alot of muscle mass and are physically active this doesn't corresponds to you. I think they are referring to the average sedentary person who has the slightest clue about portion control and exercise.

  • @broly322628 BMI does not work in the fact that it won't be able to tell muscle vs fat. If you want a REAL BMI I would so go to the doctor. I'm pretty sure they use calipers to squeeze certain areas and take everything in account for a real number.

  • @MELLAD4 I sorta agree. Just telling them "They're perfect the way they are" isn't helping at all. Nor is it true. If they're obese and unhealthy they need to be told straight up. Though hopefully they'll listen instead of eating their pain away.

  • my bmi is 21.3,

  • my food schedual

Breakfast- 1 bowl of frosted mini wheats

    Lunch- Nothing

Dinner- 1 serving of 1 food choice

    Dessert- Nothing

  • "Ive already tried diet and exercise" obviously you havent been trying hard enough, your stomach still slaps your nuts when you walk.

  • Meanwhile in Africa.....

  • There is no connection between obesity and food intake. That is a myth, and a dangerous myth at that. The true causes of obesity are: 1) Genetics, and 2) Bacteria/Viruses. Becoming obese is largely out of your control. There is no amount of dieting or exercise which will help.

  • Calling fat people disgusting won't help the matter. When people see someone who's fat, they shouldn't ridicule them. They should offer them help. A lot of people are fat because they have problems with their emotions. Get smart before you talk.

  • @nahirlozza I don't say anything, but I do turn up the corner of my lip, cause they do look disgusting and repulsive

  • @SpazChat I hope god gives you the karma you deserve.

  • @SpazChat , You say that because you are probably fat like them. Someone who knowingly eats bad food constantly, doesn't exercise, etc, doesn't deserve empathy when they get that big. They're the ones that put themselves in that position. No one force fed them and asked them to turn into lazy fat blobs.

  • Americans are a lot like pigs they eat everything in front of them and then go lie down.

  • as long as we have niggers and mexicans on food stamps, we will be the fattest nation on earth

  • @phantom1000A There is no need for that type of language. Black People and Mexicans are human beings too and although it is frustrating to have to pay taxes that go to them it's also the government's fault. Name calling makes things worse.

  • @nahirlozza Yeah, everyone is human except for brown Muslims. If Muslims were really human, would the US be slaughtering them daily?

  • @newyawker123

your lifestyle is great, its really healthy mine is: breakfast: 2 slices of toast with a piece of turkey or chicken as well as a glass of milk and a bowl of fruits lunch: salad containing spinach leaves, tomatoes, mushrooms, low fat dressing, avocado, orange peppers (correct me if I'm wrong), as well as some pineapple and a glass of tea with it dinner: pasta with mushrooms as well as chicken OR roti with chicken curry, chick peas, spinach, and mushrooms that's what i eat

  • @Azuremaidens Compared to who?

  • If you are fat you are subhuman. The Bill of Rights does not apply to you. Fat people are lower then animals. Animals are rarely fat because they stop eating eventually. Fat people are disgusting.

  • lawl get real whoever made this, why are blacks and hispanics fatter? it's cause their poorer and get less education and have less oppurtunity to get healthy food

  • @johnmcclane125 Maybe the hourly and daily fish fries have something to do with it?? :)

  • HA in Soviet Russia vodka cures everything

  • Being underweight in the USA is like being a unicorn. You see them in pictures and hear stories of people seeing them. But they can never be found in real life...

  • BMI is junk science.

Anyone who cites BMI seriously is a very stupid person.

  • @newyawker123 seriously? i advocate healthy eating but... exactly 3 ounces of pasta? and you eat that every single day? that's just borderline crazy, and boring!

personally i don't understand the obsession with fast food i think it tastes horrible! like the fat in it tastes like stomach acid and salt and... i dunno, innards... nothing like a good bit of rice crackers and hummus, or rye bread with cottage cheese, roast tomato and spinach leaves. YUMMO

  • This is why I eat way more healthy

  • If you multiply BMI by body fat percentage would you get a good scale to classify obesity?

  • I have the same BMI as George W Bush lol

  • No such thing as being "healthy". Health exists but healthy does not.

There is nothing that will cure all of your diseases. Most diseases are in fact linked to dust, parasites, worms, fungi, bacteria, genetics, toxic plants, and have nothing to do with "diet".

You can't cure disease with diet. Its just not possible. The best way to help solve a disease is to prevent it, there is no other way. Everything else is just marketing.

  • obesity isn't genetics unless they say you can't put down the fork

  • THE ONE EASY CURE FOR OBESITY IS ANOREXIA! I used to be fat, but then i started to skip meals, lost weight, and now i can NO LONGER gain any weight! i eat whatever i want and stay slim! it's great!

  • @yourvidisbad101 It works because "Whatever you want" = "Hardly anything at all!"

  • go Asians!!! haha

  • The statistic that 30% of Americans are obese is COMPLETE BS! Body Mass Index measures weight vs height. It doesnt measure whether that weight is muscle or actual fat. Example: Average NFL Quarterback is 6'2 235 pounds, A BMI using those numbers is 30.2 which = Obese? Ben Rothelisburger, OBESE? Eli Manning, OBESE? Drew Breese, OBESE? This shows that BMI is a crap indicator in my opinion.

  • @kemoblue4u BMI is actually a reliable indicator of obesity when used at a population level. As you know, the majority of the population are not star NFL players, therefore BMI has medical validity. When used at the individual level, however, like you said, BMI can be inaccurate as a scale of over-fatness. Are these NFL players overweight? For their height, yes. But are they overfat? Obviously not.

  • @amandanauaz false. you just proved my point. is eli manning obese? Theyres no such thing as "over weight or obese" when it comes to keeping fit and healthy. How is someone who is in shape with a muscular physique "obese" as you say? Not making any sense. I myself am considered "over weight" by BMI indicator which couldnt be further from the truth. BMI is a false indicator of health.

  • @kemoblue4u Did you even read anything I said? First off I said BMI is a reliable indicator at a POPULATION level, not individual. Most normal people are obviously not super-athletic/muscular athletes. Second, it is important to establish a difference between overweight and overfat, which I also said. Your BMI may classify you as "overweight", but that certainly does not mean you are "overfat". Overweight simply means you are at a heavier weight than most people at your height. That's all.

  • @kemoblue4u The BMI system is flawed, but I believe that 30% or more of Americans are obese, cuz look around you.Go to the mall and there's obese people in every direction you look. But yeah obviously most NFL players aren't obese. If they went to their doctor they wouldn't tell them they were obese.

  • @lovetheapple You must be from the South where 30% of the population IS obese. Here in New York it is maybe half that. When I go to the mall I do see obese people but not in any direction, generally only in the direction of the food court.

  • @lovetheapple Also, you should look up the documentary called "Fat Head" it sheads light on the "obesity" issue associated with fast food, brought to light by another documentary, "Super Size Me." I highly recommend giving it a look, its on netflix if you have that.

  • FILTHY FAT!

  • change to metric system man...gosh so stubborn

  • Thank GOODNES my parents are bodybuilders

  • breakfast:mcdonalds

    lunch:mcdonalds

    dinner:mcdonalds

    is the normal american food

  • @SpongebobMusicUnited It is going to get worse. (gram mat

  • @SpongebobMusicUnited I have hypothyroidism. It is a disorder. And one of the symptoms is great increases/decreases in weight. But I'm not fat, I'm just a little chubby. I'm far from obesity. You see, weight is bound to get worse the less you pay attention to it. Obesity is definitely a problem in America. And if we do not act on this problem, it going to get worse.

  • I wanna pimp slap that bitch in the beginning

  • Scientists have no idea why blacks and hispanics are more overweight? hahahaha...holy shit, maybe you should take their degrees away. MONEY. You got two bucks to feed your family...are you going to buy a pound and a half of apples or two boxes of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. Holy shit scientists..smarten up.

  • I have no pity for fat people, unless you have a condition that prohibits weight loss. The people that do not have a condition are just lazy ignorant fucks who don't care about themselves enough to excercise. Obesity is not a crisis it is just the population getting fucking lazier.

  • @SpongebobMusicUnited

    Totally agree!

    I weep for the future.

  • BMI is so inaccurate that is practically laughable. Your weight consists of 4 major factors and BMI only considers one of these factors

Your weight consists of 4 things: Fat, Muscle, bones, and water. BMI might interpret a bodybuilder as obese even though they have low fat percentage and high muscle percentage.

  • @levymayoral you are right...the bmi is inaccurate. I used to work in a physicians office, and the doctor would say that the bmi can be misleading. Sometimes we would get bodybuilders whoes weight would be considered overweight or obese, but they certainly were not fat-- they had slow body fat %.

  • skinny white bitch

  • Understanding obesity: eating too much food and not moving around. Done.

  • @Morethanenough1 lol you are correct, people make it out to be impossible, but in reality just put the fork down

  • Obese person: 100 French Fries

    Me: 25 sweet potato fries

  • I just don't understand obesity. Or rather, I don't understand why people think it's a disease. Get off the couch a few times a week and this "disease" will disappear.

  • Comment removed

  • It's simple no more drive through....walk through a salad bar...any questions?

  • There are more fat Blacks and Hispanics then white people? Get fucken real.

  • @TheSlothification It's true, it has to do with genetic history. Caucasions having discovered a way to make food plentifuly significantly earlier than Hispanics or Blacks tend to have a slightly higher metabolism and are just a bit more resistant to obesity

  • @TheSlothification that's what i thought..

and what point are they trying to make?

  • @jazzyfoof32 what do you mean? its obvious there's more hispanic and black fatties. whites are the skinny bitches and have always been known as such.

  • @DaFawky I don't know about that. Try this in a mall, Count every three white people. I guarantee you at least one will be fat. Try it. Shocked me the first time I did it. Now I do it for fun when I am bored. Hehehe.

  • @emergencyexit16 Oh, well I do know about that. You haven't seen the statistics then. 80% of African American women are overweight or obese. There definitely are more skinny white people than hispanics or blacks. This isn't news.

  • @emergencyexit16 you don't live near a mall with every american citizen in it

  • @GoodwinMary What's your point? It still doesn't change the fact that the majority of Americans are fat. JUST LOOK AROUND! There are few states where the majority of people don't look like pigs.

  • @TheSlothification if you've ever eaten at chipotle's or church's and think about eating that type of food in those portions on a regular, you'd understand why we blacks and some hispanics are more likely to become obese. Then look at the weight of the food in asian restaurants, the scientists that don't know why aren't studying enough.

  • @TheSlothification Actually yes, there are. I've seen it myself too much! That's the realist it gets

  • @TheSlothification Per capita, absolutely!

  • @TheSlothification I go to a church where the majority of the congregation is black, after the service in the parking lot there r different types of food available, vegan, wraps, & fried chicken fried collard greens, cornbread, pork, fat fat fat, may be yummy but the general width of these dear women is unbelievable, their poor hearts, I love fried food but eat it rarely & still see how easy it is to put the pudge on Fried Food is a girth expander & brings clogged arteries & early death .

  • @TheSlothification Also I live in L.A. & again the populace is largely hispanic & love fried food love cheese, meat & lots of it, sweet soft drinks, macdonalds & guess what they're almost always huge by early teens sadly some when they are just 4 or 5 like kids in the videos here, its fried food & empty white bread full of chemicals & Diet sodas causing overeating, bloating & weight gain, what a lie that aspartame & artificial sweeteners make you thin. They give you cancer & tumors & blindness

  • @TheSlothification lol.. i would say thats related to diet/food choices. fried foods and fast food. it sounds more disturbing than it actually is especially if someone is black or hispanic and at a normal weight. obesity doesnt discriminate though. bad diet and no exercise will bring anyone down eventually.

  • @TheSlothification

I think what they meant was that a larger % of people in the black and hispanic ethnicity are overweight than the white population

  • @TheSlothification and for hispanics that may be genetic due to famines native americans went through often

  • @TheSlothification its a fact, you just dont see them because they are laying down at home :)

  • @TheSlothification you americans are all a bunch of fat and sad people.

  • @TheSlothification

    soul food

  • @TheSlothification per capita

  • BMI is shit, bodyfat is not.

  • what if you are a supper ripped boddybuilder? you might be 220 pounds but with absolutely no fat on or fat under 10% you would still have a high BMI according to this duddes.

  • BREAKFAST: large bowl of oatmeal, large glass of skim milk, piece of fruit

LUNCH: Turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread, mustard, lettuce ,tomato, onion, peppers, pickles, with olive oil and vinegar, 2 pieces of fruit, & vegetables

DINNER: grilled chicken breast, *HUGE* PILE OF RAW OR STEAMED

VEGETABLES, 3 ounces of whole wheat pasta

SNACKS: small amount of nuts, dried fruit, VEGETABLES

EXERCISE:30 minutes of rigorous(treadmill, swimming, etc) exercise EVERY DAY

DO THIS EVERY DAY. ANY QUESTIONS?

  • @newyawker123 yep, what about the pepole with food alligeys? (glutun, nuts)

  • @newyawker123 Wow! You're so cool. You now qualify as a hipster. Exercising vigorously everyday isn't healthy. Your body needs rest. Skim milk? Your body needs @ 20-30% calories from fat. You're not getting enough. But you're ubercool so who cares.

  • @wojtek0000 Why do I get the feeling that you're overweight?

  • @newyawker123 Too bad milk has Antibiotics/Growth Hormones in it & fruit is often GMO'd covered in pesticides often dyed & waxed, the turkey is tortured, full of hormones, antibiotics is fed ground up dead sick animals- lives in feces & its legs are broken in the slaughter process while still alive Yummy! but wait there is more Your tomato likely has salmon & grasshopper genes spliced in for shelf life, lettuce is sprayed 26 x's w poison before it reaches you. Get into ORGANIC grow your own.

  • @newyawker123 Too bad milk has Antibiotics/Growth Hormones in it & fruit is often GMO'd covered in pesticides often dyed & waxed, the turkey is tortured, full of hormones, antibiotics, is fed ground up dead sick animals- lives in feces & its legs are broken in the slaughter process while still alive. • @newyawker123 Why pasta for dinner? I'd rather have it for lunch because I'm more active during the day ^^

  • @newyawker123

Sounds good. What's important is portion sizes of course. Portion sizes are absolutely huge in restaurants and fast food places, so what is vital to sticking to a diet is making your own food at home so you can control portions.

  • they are making fun of bush

  • My BMI is 26. Ah lord I'm overweight and I just realized it. :(

  • if you have folds on your neck, if you have rolls on your stomach, if you have man breasts, if you cant fit in a bus seat or train seat, if you dont feel confortable in a airplane seat if you cant make it up three fights of stairs without getting winded, then maybe you go to the doctor to check if you have a very common disease called obesity.

  • @anebt I get where you're coming from, but your revenge tax only works if you can specifically tax obese people who vote for high smoking taxes. LOL Instead of different groups hating on each other, we should all work together to get gov't out of our personal lives.

  • @anebt You're a smoker. Did the tax make you quit? Obviously not, by your own admission. I wish people didn't automatically turn to legislation and taxation as a means of trying to solve complex social and personal problems. If people want to eat themselves to death, or smoke themselves to death, that's their own business. I say NEITHER should be taxed.

  • @rmcdaniel423 by your accounts smoking should not be taxated and yet the added pressure that smoking has put on our health care systems is costing our country billions and billions of dollars that eventually get passed on to the tax payers that ass you said as a majority they don't smoke. how is it fair that the non smokers would pay and equaly share of the money smoking causes........ would you voluntarily by a car for someone who wants to destroy it... taxes on cigs save non smokers money.

  • @beavervalley1 This is what anebt was alluding to. By your standard, we should then also find a way to tax obesity, type-II diabetes, hypertension, etc. They are preventable and cost $ disproportionately. What about people who neglect their education? Where do you draw the line when you correlate a bad behavior with a costly outcome? Can I suggest a tax on war-mongering Republicans or big-government Liberals?

I'd like to discourage smoking too. I just think it's not govt's job to do so.

  • This is part of the problem. As a former personal fitness trainer, I have to say the BMI scale is bullsh*t and causing more harm than good!! I'm 5'11, 218 pounds with 15% body-fat. Am I obese? Hell no! I lift weights once a week and play tennis a total of 4 hours each week! My weight is mostly lean mass!

The American Council on Exercise lists having a body-fat percentage of 25% or greater as obese for men.

BODY-FAT PERCENTAGE IS WHAT WE SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO, NOT BMI!!

  • @shawnsbigtube 15% is high for some people... BMI is stupid because it doesnt take into account ethnicity.. I would argue an inuit having 25% body fat is quite normal while a Nigerian having even 15% would be bad.

  • @budda10000: Huh? What are you talking about? When did I advocate using BMI? And ethnicity doesn't play a part in a person's body-fat percentage. That's ludacris and racist! Cultural habits is what dictates body-fat percentage. For example, and as studies have shown, people in the southeast of the U.S. tend to have higher body-fat percentage because the "southern diet".

  • @shawnsbigtube

"ethnicity doesn't play a part in a person's body-fat percentage." Yes it does.... your genetic background effects every aspect of your phenotype.. why would avrg body fat % be any different? Additionally different ethnic groups have adapted to different diets thus forcing a western diet on them doesn't make sense.. this is why diabetes has skyrocketed in some populations whose diets have drastically changed... it is also why africans, asians, and natives cant digest lactose.

  • @budda10000: And 15% is high for some people? Really? Based on the American Council on Exercise, 15% for men is fit while 15% for women is considered athletic.

You're one of those that just likes conflict, aren't you?

  • @shawnsbigtube Yes and if you applied that standard to masaii they would all be deemed anorexic and all Inuit would be deemed obese... The standard is silly and such things need to be taken on a case by case basis with such things as ethnic background being taken into account. Its not racist to recognize regional differences in genetics and body type... its good medicine. I can tell this kind of reasoning is beyond your level of intelligence. And yes I like belittling "smart" morons.

  • Dr. Melanie Jay is pretty

  • George W is overweight? Bullshit, he's a pole

  • W-w-what the fuck? My weight in pounds is 70 (Im fat) and my height in inches is 61... 70 x 703 is 49, 210. 61 squared is 3721. Dividing the first figure by the second is 49,000 something. WTF? MY BMI IS NOT 49,000!

  • Fat people need to turn into candles and soap.

  • skinny and proud.

  • Her voice annoys me

  • That's right, obesity is NOT genetic. If it were, African countries would have higher obesity rates than the US given that blacks in the US have the highest obesity rate. It has to do with poverty. Blacks are the poorest in the US, so they have the highest obesity rates. But in under developed countries, the poor are the skinniest because they are starving. The poor people in the US can only afford cheap fast food, so they become obese.

  • @eurasianchica completely correct,

  • @eurasianchica

Correct. But I still think it's a bit odd. Me not being American, I can see this from another angle.

I live on welfare currently as I'm unemployed (until next autumn) and I don't go buying McDonalds food or anything of that sort. Why? Because it costs me much less to buy cheap ingredients for food and whenever there is a lowered price on meat/fish/chicken at the store I mostly go to.

Ain't it the same way in the US? That it would be cheaper to buy your own food.

  • @Andreazor I didn't mean specifically McDonalds, rather I was using that as an example- in the US unhealthy fast food types are cheaper than the healthier foods.

  • @Andreazor So, even if you buy your own food in the USA, in most places unhealthy stuff is cheaper than healthy stuff.

  • @Andreazor yeah, but Americans are lazy.

  • @somename1235465

Not all of us you dick.

    Go brush your teeth!

  • @HHHdahman Hahaha, actually I am Canadian, not British.

  • Obesity is not genetic at all. The only "genetic" part about it are the bad habits being passed down from generation to generation. Also, african americans are more at risk for obesity, because a majority of them eat large portions of meals during family gatherings, or eat tons of mcdonald's and fried chicken.

  • My BMI is 12.8

  • 0:32 arrage amarican thats why i hate amarica in some ways

  • i see a lot of people stating that poverty is the source of obesity in African and Hispanic people. That's a load of bs. Look at people in vietnam or cambodia. Most of them live on little more than a $1 per day. Why are they not obese? because their foods are cheap, healthy, and just happens to be delicious .

  • @pokenei Well if there is a place where fatty stuff is cheaper those who have enough money to buy alot of junk but are too cheap to buy the healthy stuff people in that money range could have a higher obesity rate.

  • @pokenei That is not true. Poverty in America among the Blacks and Hispanic is different than the poverty in Vietnam and Cambodia. When you're poor in America, you live on $1 hamburger and fries, cheap crap, but when you're poor in Vietnam and Cambodia, you're starving.

Source: family from Vietnam, I know what its like.

  • it's simple. you are what you eat. Asians on average are smaller because they eat less. It's ok however for a kid to be a bit overweight, because he will thin out when he reaches puberty and hit the growth spurt. If i have kids, i'd make sure they eat a lot so that they're bigger and taller than I am. However, I would advise everyone to quit cheese or consuming any dairy product in their adulthood because it is high in fat and can cause cancer.

  • Wait what? People with a BMI below 30 can be obese? I don't think you understand the definition of obesity. Just because you have a lab coat on doesn't make you a doctor, lady.

  • @GreenFi5h it's true. Obesity is merely "excess amounts of body fat that has the potential to cause health problems"- someone below 30bmi can have a lot of body fat in proportion to bone and muscle mass.

  • I weigh 87 pounds

  • @swankrecords I weigh 70 pounds.

  • Only a handful of obesity studies actually show what obese people need to achieve a normal healthy weight and stay that weight for the rest of their life.

According to the studies, only about 1 to 2% of obese people are ever capable of achieving such a feat! That means 98 to 99% will try all those gadgets, diets, and surgeries with nearly no results!!!

If you are obese, you have to become serious enough to become part of that 1 to 2%. Google "phelan long-term weight loss" for study.

  • Bush is a terrible example. He isn't fat at all. The guy works out all the time and has a high BMI due to extra muscle.

  • The epidemic of obesity is caused by the factors that can’t be attributed to life style.

  • I am almost underweight! my BMI is 19

  • the BMI is not an accurate measurement of one's body composition because it completely neglects the fact that muscle weighs more than fat. Someone who has alot of muscle may very likely be classified as obese as opposed to someone who is rounder and obviously more fat.

  • Asian Americans are the least likely to become obese?? LOL! Not if they are eating at McDonald's every day.

  • why don't they just go for a walk, jog, run, eat vegetables or just dance and have fun?

  • Oh no, I'm in the same category as president Bush. I see a healthy hippo facing me in the mirror :(
