Is it easier or more time consuming to just reset the mask and re-cut out the whole thing?

that's how I mask, because I don't have the patience to fiddle with it and what it screw up when I try to move the lines the way you are.

Can u help me? great video but at 10:11 i see itachi and sasuke together and they have those tiles in it that make masking easier, how did u get the tiles there? when i got it from download site, i see white back ground and when i mask, the white comes with it.

@babyangel19971 that picture is a Png file. you can do that in Photoshop. when u make a Png file anything in the picture is visable like sasuke and itachi and nuthing else.

Erm could you help me? ^^; I have a problem when it comes to masking. This may seem like a dolt's question but, how do you move the segment? Like I can move them, but it's like they 'jump' and move WAY too far away.

I even attempted what you did in the video, but it still doesn't work. Any specific directions or is it super easy to do

Great Video...quick question.....Is there any way in Sony Vegas 8 to provide motion to an item you have masked other than motion tracking. Once you have masked it with the anchor tool, I have found that you cannot move it around with pan/crop key framing.  I usually crop the pictures in another program with a green background so I can chromakey them in vegas to allow the use of pan/ crop tool for motion key framing.

@FireHeart278 always remember in the Pan/crop screen window. there are these tabs near the left side bottom that says Position and Mask. by clicking one of the two you can always go backand forth between your masking and or your crop screen. when your in Postion if u ever mess up you can always right click and press restore. but sounds like you need to be in Postion to move just your mask around. Mask only moves the dots and editing you do in there.

great but i'm having a problem with you instructions, for some reason it will not let me move the masking dots around like you illustrate in this tutorial. every time i try to move a dot when it's a different keyframe, it stretches out some lines of the the mask but not how you show it tho. i hope you understand what i'm saying... is there a option to change what happens when you click and drag a masking dot ?

@Jsoulchild yeah sometimes that happens when u move a masking dot it either stretches or goes in differnt directions and i know that can be a pain.Make sure you are not still in the pen tool when moving the dots you need to be in Normal Edit Tool for this to work right. Normal Edit tool looks like this little Arrow right above the tab for Pen Tool. hope this helps

@Darkitty669 oh ok i see but now the issue is once i've selected the arrow (normal edit tool) and then click on the dot it moves the whole mask when i drag the mouse and not the single dot :/ lol (i'm such a beginner at this sony vegas stuff but i thank u for your instructions and time :) )

@Jsoulchild ohh okay I got it... after clicking the the arrow icon to switch tools all the dots are highlighted so you first have to click on the background image and THEN select the dot you want to adjust first then the next then the next etc. whew i've been loosing my mind for almost 2 hours about this problem but this helped a lot so thanks again

@Sh4dow54 Usually it can be a lag in the preview screen. have u tried rendering it to see if its messed up? if not then its the preview screen. all u may need to do is set it to Auto preview

@bowtodaking its good for alot of things. u can take a pic or clip and mask it to blend with other things in the video. u can do alot with various effects vegas has to offer. it would be good to learn a bit. u should try looking at other amvs to get some ideas for why its good. some people can put chracters together for other animes just with masking.

Question! I Motion-masked, and All I get in the background is some black screen. I try to put in a texture ('Starry Night' from Media generators) to cover it, but nothing works, The black is still there around the mask. I Masked using the Event-crop and didn't use Chroma keyer. How can I get rid of the black around my mask and put in a texture? (Derpy question, but new to Vegas 10.)

@Helikox they disapear? um im not sure on what ur doing lol but like if u ever mess up and wanna get back on track try going to "Edit" and then "Undo" until ur back to before u messed up. make sure when u are in the process of masking try to keep going as much as u can without pressing any other button unless like in the video. u might have deleted them on accident without knowing.

@denisselopez771 when u are in the pancrop window you see tha Fscreen. take your mouse and you can pull on the sides of that little screen. push in to zoom in and pull outward to zoom out.

@pyarched yeah it truly is some dont know how time comsuming and sometimes fustrating it is. maybe one day vegas can have some type of detection on masking for you. like magic wand i think thats in photoshop just highlight and cut parts you dont want

@Subverttech4 totally very possible. you can put urself in the video with a moving background. u can just mask yourself in there or find a way to have somesort of green screen behind you when recording that way u can just chroma keyer yourself in there ^^

@Darkitty669 also i did try to mask before but i have problems with continuing my "points" when i accidently mess up. :/ sorry it doesn't make much sense but it annoys me because i did right click and select the masking points but when i click a new area, it makes a new "strand" of points. @.@

@Subverttech4 well i usually mess up during masking sometimes lol but i always find it usful to just go to edit then do undo to before where i mess up. but i think i know what you mean i get really annoyed with that situation and its just gonna take some practice to get used to it. i try to know where im gonna start and end so i wont mess up. just make sure to click the last point you were on and careful not to double click and stuff vegas is so sensitive lol keep practicing ^^

@DeusDoku the background to the masking can be ay color. i just perfer green cuz most of the picture itself that u mask does not have green in it. so when i chroma keyer it the green if there is any in the photo wont be removed. u can make the background any color u want just make sure its not the same in the masking u are using

@Chan3lprincess16 the keyframe timeline helps if you decide to start motion masking. or decide if u want some parts masked a differnt way. each keyframe point you use can be differnt from the others creating various effects.

@NaruHina201115 well when that happens to me it depends how far into the masking i am in. if short i just start over but if im far into it and i dont wanna start over i jus try to undo it till its not (top of vegas where it says Edit then go to undo) or you can delete some of the keypoints if u dont want them. i always try to take a over look of what i mask before i finish cuz i hae redoing it sometimes lol

@akeeper97 if you ever worked with photoshopcs4, vegas is just almost like it. you work with layers. so lets say you want a background behind a masking you did you need 2 insert two video tracks in your timline. the bottom track has the bg and at the very top has the masking so it will be on top.
