  • I like JM. But I don't agree with everything that he is teaching on this particular subject. I know a pastor who has heard God's audible voice numerous times over the years. God has also worked many miracles through this man's ministry. The Bible also says that we would have dreams and visions in the last days. I myself had a vision shortly after becoming a Christian about 4 years ago. Having said all that, I would not advise any Christian to seek a Heavenly "visitation". Peace.

  • @edadan2009 It's -POSSIBLE- that God can give people visions today, but it must be remembered that since the Bible is sufficient, what is the need for external revelation? In light of that, claims of revelation need to be looked at highly skeptically. We should consider the claimant and whether their life shows evidence of them being saved--fruits of the Spirit, etc. If everything else they do is Biblical, they -may- be hearing from God. But we need to be very careful and discerning.

I was in a Baptist church for many years and did not believe anything except what the southern baptist convention taught me. Then on March 11, 2007, God showed up and turned my life completely around. I don't doubt the supernatural anymore because God IS supernatural. I have seen (with my own eyes) people miraculously healed.

What a shame that the church has become so skeptical and "discerning" that they don't believe anymore God anymore but rather the doctrines of man.

  • @edadan2009 If what you see cannot be justified with God's Word, which we KNOW is true, then you need to examine yourself to see whether you are in the faith. Do not scorn knowledge. The Holy Spirit gives discernment; if you're not discerning you may not have the Holy Spirit, at least you're not being filled with Him.

The CHURCH believes God. If you ever reject the Bible in favor of anything else, fear for your soul.

Yes, we do know that God's Word is true. So, why do you question it? God said He would give dreams and visions to His people - He didn't say "I might". Why do you say "it's possible", when God said IT WILL HAPPEN? Yes, the Holy Spirit gives discernment - but where does fear come from - and which one is guiding you? God said that without faith, it is impossible to please Him. So, don't just listen to the Word - do what it says.

  • @edadan2009 1 Cor. 13:8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.

Also read the two chapters that bookend that one.

Search "miraculous gifts" and "cessationism" in GotQuestions' search function.

Sorry, it's too late for you (or anyone) to try and convince me that God left us here powerless and helpless. If you want to learn what's available to you - search for Pastor Thurman Scrivner. He has a website, but youtube won't allow me to type it in here.

  • @edadan2009 um, we're not helpless just because we don't have superhero-like powers. Miracles are always done for a greater purpose--that's why they're called SIGNS. Think of all the people Jesus DIDN'T HEAL.

  • @dougmoerhoffman

The only people that weren't healed were the ones who did not believe. And, the Bible doesn't say that Jesus wouldn't heal them - it says that He couldn't heal them because of their unbelief. John 21:25 says "Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written." When I read the Bible, I see that Jesus healed entire towns - I don't see Him refusing anyone.

  • @edadan2009 That's not true. Please read the Gospel over again.

  • @dougmoerhoffman

What is it that you would like me to see? Can you send me scripture references?

Jesus gave you power and authority as His child. Mark 11:24, Mark 16:17-18, Matthew 18:19, Luke 10:19-20, James 5:14-16, etc. These are PROMISES from God that will only work by faith. But, you must not have any doubt or unbelief when you ask God (James 1:6-8, Matthew 17:17-20).

Spend a little time and listen to some of the testimonies from Thurman Scrivner's ministry.

  • waterfaw That`s right....

  • Amen, Amen and Amen to your words warefaw!!!!

  • Amen

  • That's not true. The two witnesses (who John probably denies...as he denies many things) are not going to be as powerful and meaningful as scripture?

He forgets scripture was pulled together various letters.

We have the same spirit as those who wrote the Bible. I'm not saying we should add to the Bible but our words can be as edifying.....else God lied.

  • God says tat it is HIS WORD that will NEVER return VOID. JM is one of the few Christian teachers who do teach the WORD of GOD without bending it out of shape 2 fit the needs of the masses. Name something scriptural that this man has denied!! @ 6:59 he says the Bible is unique, written over 1500 yr period by over 40 men. Rev.11:3 "& I will give POWER unto MY 2 witnesses & they shall prophesy 1260 days,.."Rom.15:4 "4 whatever things were written AFORETIME were written 4 our learning..." Read it!!

  • AY I really like him too

  • praise God for man like John

  • praise God for the message.. It is an eye opener.. God bless you pastor John

  • Thank you John your labor is not in vain.

  • chariotride Amen to that...
