  • nepal ws part of india when buddha was born

  • Buddha was born a long time ago.

  • i know that, but thats not my point.

  • I noticed at 2:49 the buddha they show, has a swastika on his chest. The swastika is a hindu symbol of good fortune, after all, buddha was born in india and was a hindu. I am a hindu to!

  • excuse me!!well u gotta improve ur history n geography too!! buddha was born in lumbini... n i think its a known fact dat lumbini is in nepal n not in india unless u have studied otherwise!n the swastika symbol is dere in budhist as well n just to let u knw dat even chinese ppl believe in the symbol..n i guess there arnt many chinese that r hindus!!!

  • nepal ws part of india when buddha was born, then after some time nepal became independant! I should know my history, why dont you catch up with it!

  • hmm..just to make u aware of the fact dat nepal was never a part of india. nepal used to hab so many small states before until king prithvi narayan shah united it into one n named the country "nepal". the smaller states were under kings like rana, malla, thakuris (who are all of the nepali origin), maybe u knw indian history better..but u cant just believe in wrong infos like "nepal ever being a part of india!"

  • I read it in a book, written by the dalai lama, a buddhist monk. He said india was the birth place of buddhism. buddha traveled thru out india, and passed away in nirvana in bodhgaya. I dont know what u heard, but this is true what i said, and calm down, why do u keep getting mad, take a chill pill.

  • of course coz buddha got enlightenment in boudh gaya!nyways m nt getin mad..m just stating da fact.m a buddhist n hab did ma secondry schoolin in india as wel...so m fuly aware of the indian as well as nepali history...oki den lets end da topic here itself....lol..;)

  • yeah, lets just forget it ;]

  • okay, Buddha was born long time ago and i don't think there were any big countries like Nepal or India. there was small town kings. i dont know about india but Nepal was made prithivi narayan shah and now Lumbini is a part of nepal and buddha was born in Nepal.

  • ummm Buddha was an INDIAN prince named Sidartha (speling) who turned his back on his royal indianfamily

  • Do you have any prove that he is born in india. i know he got his enlightment in india but he is nepali.

  • The primary sources of information regarding Siddhārtha Gautama's life are the Buddhist texts.Siddhartha was born in Lumbini which is in present day nepal.. but at the time of his birth it was part of india and he was an INDIAN prince but I am done with this as it si not important .. but get your facts straight if he was born there now he would have been nepalie but as it was a part of india at the time of his birth and he was from an INDIAN royal family he was indian thank you very much

  • hindu, buddist...whatever. it doesn't matter. those are only names. why bother about all these meaningless labels? only truth matters.

    om mani padme hum

  • I think you can see the swirls of the snail shells in the sculpture. Are you guessing or know for sure .

  • Of course I'm not guessing. It's an artistic expession of sculptor for hairs, just imagine, how are you going to sculpt standing hairs if you were a sculptor?

  • Sorry, it was my earlier ignorance, the swriling hairs of Buddha is one of the 32 Great Signs of Buddha. All Buddhas' hairs will swirls from left to right.

  • Buddhist art shows a crown of snails .Did snails really cover the buddahs head to prevent heat stroke ? If he was under a tree it shouldnt be needed .

  • It is not snails crown, it's Buddha's hairs! During Buddha's time monks didn't always maintained to be fully shaved head, but they will shave it until their hair has grown up to about 1/2 to 1 inch, this practice is still practice amongst the Tibetan Buddhist monks. But on top of Buddha's head there a buldge and it's a sign of Buddhahood, atop of this buldging crown it's said that it will illuminate light and all beings can see it no matter where they are!
