New to the brewing scene, but i notice in a couple of your videos that you drink you brew from the bottle. The brew that i have made has sediments in the bottom of the bottle so i just pour it in a glass. Is there a step i'm missing in the bottling process?
@stardog1982 I've been told that it has a year shelf life. I think it depends on how and where you store it. I keep mine in closed boxes in my basement. I have some that's16 months old and still good.
@mieses2pieces Kit beers can improve up to two years. I've never tasted improvements after that time except for beer specifically brewed for keeping. You need high quality caps.
I think the full taste of beer and a hint of peach is right on the spot. Anything more and you would have to lift your pinky while drinking from the bottle!! :)
Well the good news is you can free up some bottles for the next batch by drinking what's in them now. Have you changed the kits at all or are you still using the same one?
I drank all of it months ago. I reuse the bottles over and over again. I still use Muntons American Style Light. I really like it. I have tried different kinds but that's what I like the best.....so far.
I may have tried that kind before at a beer fest. If I remember right, I liked it too. I've tried making different kinds of beers and like what I make now best. I'm sure I will try making different kinds again in time.
might wanna watch out for beer skunking with those clear/green bottles in the light....15 minutes is all it takes to kill a batch.....then they will taste like Heineken! EEEEW!!!!! lol
I've never tried that. One thing I've learned since I made this video is when to put the peach extract in the batch. I put it in when I set the batch. Next time I will put it in at bottling. Live and learn!!
I know this is a stupid question, but can you begin with real peaches instead of a flavoring? I know that's probably stupid. On drinking out of the bottle: It's a ritual thing. I drink out of a glass too, but there is a ritual involved when you drink beer from the bottle with friends.
Not a stupid question!! I'm sure you could if you extract the juice. I can't believe somebody is telling me how to drink my beer. You can drink it from a glass of brom a can or from a bottle. Which ever you like is fine. I guess I wasn't weined properly because I like drinking it out of a bottle!! lol
The yeast is at the bottom of the bottle. I usually leave a small amount at the bottom and just pour it out. Sometimes I do drink it all down. It's good for you!!
Finally a decent burp mate !! I just put on another two 40pint Geordie Home Brew last night,23.00 GMT. Specific G 1st 1.032, 2nd 1.042. Gonna be fun in a few days seeing the alcohol content!! Have just bottled one i was "experimenting" with 2 days ago.Don't know if its worked.Smells like petrol. We'll see. Keep up the Vids mate. Brilliant and appreciated. Kevin from Belfast N.Ireland.
I've been waiting a couple of months to know how it turned out. I have a blueberry extract that I haven't used yet, I hope its got some flavor to it. Nice 'stash' you got there! :) When you bring the alcohol up with extra sugar.. does it affect the taste much? I'd like to try it. Nice video..I'm overdue for a beer tasteing! I got a couple videos I'm working on. NBM
You should add the flavoring to the batch a day or two before bottling. You can also add it to the batch just before you bottle it. That's why I couldn't hardly taste it. Live and learn!!
Good luck!! I just got another beer kit. I'm going to make another batch tomorrow!! I'm stocking up for this summer. I'll have plenty, come on over and we can get drunk!!!
The Muntons American Style Light Beer kit cost $15.50 and I just bought 3 pounds of dry malt extrat for $13.95. They yeast comes with the kit. That's $29.45 plus tax for everything I need to make six gallons.
dude?
you are the most unassuming beer drinker I have ever seen on youtube.

@byronakab I use a racking tube. It keeps from sucking up the sediment from the bottom of the fermentation bucket.

I put the peach flavor in the batch at the wrong time. If I would have put it in just before bottling I think it would have been pretty darn good.

Sorry it took me so long to get this video made. I bet your blueberry will be real good.
Thanks!! I'm stocking up for this summer.
When I've made it with extra sugar I haven't noticed much difference in taste. Give it a try. I used 8 cups of dextrose instead of 5 1/2 cups.
Thanks Peter! I look forward to seeing your beer videos!!

I think you should of added the "peach" at bottling.
MartinsBrew 4 years ago
I don't think so, but I'll ask.
mieses2pieces 4 years ago
Please do, because I'm making a Wheat beer that I'm going to add blackberry flavor to.. I was told you add it at the end when its bottling time.
MartinsBrew 4 years ago
I may go to my beer and wine making store today and buy another kit. If I do I'll ask and let you know later today.
mieses2pieces 4 years ago
Add it to your batch a day or two before you bottle it. You can also add it just before bottling.
mieses2pieces 4 years ago
Cool, thanks.. You going to try again?
Its 6 dallors for it here in Reno is its kinda of a pain but if it comes out good I will make some more.
Brew on!!
How much does your "yeast" cost? It was 75cents now its 2 fucking dallors.. I'm going to make a clone of the yeast so I dont have to keep buy it.
MartinsBrew 4 years ago
I may try again.
It's $5.50 here.
Will do!!
The yeast comes in the lid of the kit. Good luck making a clone of your yeast. I'm not sure how you're going to do that, but I hope it works for you.
mieses2pieces 4 years ago
How much for the whole kit? Its about 24 dallor "for a good beer" plus 2 dallor yeast!!!
MartinsBrew 4 years ago
The Muntons American Style Light Beer kit cost $15.50 and I just bought 3 pounds of dry malt extrat for $13.95. They yeast comes with the kit. That's $29.45 plus tax for everything I need to make six gallons.
