A Campbell Cane could be an interesting senior defense device. I was asked last year about designing a cane that could be functional, artistic and defensive. The latest design fits this description. The other fact is that I wager slaps will connect more often than punches which are mechanically different. If you need to shock and then pursue a secondary action I think the slap is great for that.

You can cup your hands at the last minute and bend your hand backward. She successfully knocked out dudes using the technique you've presented.

I was a Police officer for 30 years and an Aikido 5th dan so I suppose I can speak of having a little experience in self defence. This is a very valid and effective form of defence. Using this can take a man down very quickly, especially if directed to the ears

Someone either start teaching these chicks to punch, or if their hands get sore from slapping, a great combo of taser to nuts, with a run into the nearest liquor store, followed up with a call to the cops / someone who know how to throw a punch.

not everyone who you need to deal with is a 'drunk ass hat,' so if you don't mind, consider the situation. the combat slap is NOT the answer to your 27 ninjas in th alley...but it has its place if you don't have a taser nor the anger to destroy someone. It works for the level of violence it is designed for.

It's very simple but it looks very effective too. I like how they always practice on something and not just the air. I've been to some martial arts school before where they only teach hitting air and you could train there for years without even hitting a real object. I also like how a lot of the techniques can be used in close range.

A friend of mines a former Navy SEAL introduced me to the slap, when he applied it to my kidney,

I nearly pissed. The slap is devastating, nice work. A word of advise, when applying human contact, use caution and adjust your impact. Target arms and shoulders.
