@Vi3tSurvivalist2012 no your thinking of the cold steel gurkha kukri, which is not an authentic kukri, the real ones are about maybe 50 to 100, but nothing over 200, i love cold steel, they make a great knife, but they are way over priced,
All Cold Steel machete blades are of 1055 carbon steel, which is pretty good however ALL blades come with an UTILITY edge= somewhat DULL, I believe they do it to protect themselves from legal troubles, the utility edge will do quite a few chores but I believe most buyers will get their machetes a bit sharper, I have 8 so far and to a 1 came on the dull side, now they are quite the opposite BTW the Katana machete is just GREAT! Try one!
though inexpensive and light , this khukri machete is nothing like the real deal. I've used a proper khukri (from nepal made by locals) those beast weigh a half ton but I've seen what the can do. take the blade to cinder blocks and it is still sharp enough to shave finally it goes through 6 inch thick trees in two swipes no joke. the power of a khukri is not only in the unique shape but also the thick continuous convex blade that can smoothly cut through almost any material without catching.
@TheiTouchGuys Not before I sharpened it. In its current sharpness it could do some serious damage, ive never cut off a head before but I'm sure you could
@TheHunterHatfield Ive heard that in WWI, trench knives were "dull" at the tip so they would deflect off bones rather than get stuck in them. Is that the same reason?
@sgtclam trench knifes were more of a spike design, as they were meant to be driven though the helmet and into the brain, so no the tip would not be dull. of course there are more conventional knife variant as well.
i have the same exact machete they are low price high performance over all good blades, the handles are tough but one thing DO NOT USE FOR CHOPPING WHILE COLD i did this and the handle snapped apart like a freaking cookie haha still highly advised. i am currently purchasing the kukri magnum to replace it.
i mean the the "parang machete"... its the same thing but without the curve while still retaining the blade shape. Its the same thing SAS uses. Also including the fact it was a Ka-Bar and not ColdSteel.
yea i wrapped the paracord myself, but I didn't use any special knots. I mostly relied on melting the paracord together at the ends. So far it's held up well.
which site do you recommend to buy it on? because theres like 5 sites that sell it.

Nice mods, especially love the paracord. As for the area where you hit the brick, take a file to it and work out those burrs!

@sgtclam Actually, The duller the blade the more chance you have of cutting a limb off lol

@sgtclam that was actually to cause the knife to not get stuck in bones and cause the holder to be killed or wounded while trying p pull it out.

@TheHunterHatfield why samari swords so sharp then?
buffmann91 1 year ago
@buffmann91 It takes power to actually cut a limb off with such a sharp sword. The blades are also pretty thin so it'll take even more power.

exact same as mine, sharpened and wrapped in para chord.
except your handle wrap is shit. Instead of burning it together, there is a simple way to fold one strand under and secure it.

I prefer ka-bar... the factory blade wasn't that bad at all but to be honest I choose the parang machete and it took down a tree with little effort.
YouMockMe 2 years ago
you mean the Ka-Bar kukri style machete/knife or the fighting knife?
sgtclam 2 years ago

can you do a tutorial on the handle wrap? i really like the way it looks.
mavue 2 years ago
I just sorta wrapped it around, no special loops or anything. I just started at the top and swirled around. Like wrapping string around a pencil.
sgtclam 2 years ago
Hmm, your...big. Anyways did you do the paracord wrapping youself? What knot did you use?
