It's not wires. Wires wouldn't be practical with the amount of movement he does on the stage. He has patented shoes with ankle braces (you can see the white part on the shoe around their ankles) that can lock into nails that rise from the stage.

But even with his patented shoe, the move still looks pretty sick, and it doesn't mean that just anybody can put on that shoe and go do it...that definitely takes practice and coordination between him and the back up dancers.
