  • @zagyex You're absolutely right. I never took drugs when I listend PF, they made me different (or maybe allowed to find myself) just with their music. I think this happened with many others in the same way and this is the magic part of PF, a sort of alchemy.

  • Talking about drugs here is like talking about the types of guitars.

A lot of people take acid, a lot of people play guitar but there is only one pink floyd, and the creativity has not too much to do with drugs. If it were so, a lots of people would create similar music because of drugs.

  • its hard to make this kind of music on drugs.... you've gotta be focused

  • @tripstrum You obviously don't know anything about Psychedelic drugs. They make you grasp and speculate things you could not understand when you're so called "Sober". It expands your mind, let's you go deeper into the sentence. And that means you become more focused then you usually are. So please dont open your mouth when you dont know anything about the subject.

  • @HardRockLover Let the poor people not capable of understanding the life changing, thought enhancing experience of psychedelics used right (LSD in particular) rant on, it is obviosly their loss.

  • @Lompebroed Indeed it is their loss. But what makes me raise my eye brows, is when a person who don't know anything about the subject, fools himself, and starts to believe what he is saying is actually true.

  • @mahajohn

thats cool i can induce my own goosebumps so easily its crazy actually how easily i can do it and pink floyd sends goosebumps over every inch of my body every time i listen

  • Roger Waters said that the acid they took was much stronger than people who talk about "walking around" or "having conversation" did. I remember that.

  • I give Pink Floyd to my baby son, so he can sleep and have wonderfull dreams ;)

This song is his lulaby from when he was still inside my wife. The only thing to calm him down is this song ;)

  • this is great but does anybody have any live concert footage from the 70's or 80's

cant find any anywhere and they must have taped shows then hope someone posts some with good quality sometime.

  • i was thinking of animating Echoes in Flash but it's over 23 minutes long!!

  • i truly wish i was there im only 16 years old and since i heard pink floyd for the first time i had wished i was born in the 50s so that i could have been to their concerts. and so that i could have had the amazing anticipation of waiting for each of their albums to be released. and so that i could talk to each of my friends about their new songs and albums. and so that i could expericnce their music firsthand and live when they were in their prime! i love pink floyd! FLOYD FOREVER!

  • @ShiftyStealthy Among my greatest peak experiences was to have experienced two Pink Floyd concerts. I feel truly sorry for the generations that can experience a real Pink Floyd concert. Not even a Roger Waters or David Gilmour solo show will ever be the same. Nothing can match it. Actually, I'm experiencing goosebumps right now as I type this, and the last time I saw them was 17 years ago. in fact, at parties I tell people I can induce my own goosebumps, and think about Floyd to do so.

  • Pink Floyd is the best band ever....

  • Hey Pink Floyd fans! You've never heard "if" from atom heart mother like that! It's a tribute : not a copy... youtube.com/watch?v=Kdy5O6whNsc

  • I was there! Floyd concerts in the early 70s were some of the most evocative events ever! Mystical.

  • great version....thank you for posting

  • I remember when I was about 12 and I looked through my older sister's record collection. It was 1977 and I came across this album "Animals". Indeed my life was never the same. Pink Floyd was the music of my pubescent anxt! Need I say more?

  • best version on youtube{imo} is the ivor wynne 1975 show - it sounds amazing

  • I looked up "epic" in the dictionary. It said, "See the entry for Pink Floyd."

  • The best version of this song is the one on Live At Pompeii, both for the execution and for the sound. Much more better than the studio version, which is a masterpiece anyway.

  • i'm crying now !!! :( i'm crying for the people who didn't knew or don't know Pink Floyd !!! :'''(

  • There no need for drugs for music, but it absolutely makes it better.

  • im so faded right now ahha

  • the years go by....but PF stays forever!!

dunno what my life would be without`em!!

  • the years go by....but PF stays forever!!

dunno what my life would be without`em!!

  • I think you do tend to find there are drugs in there somewhere with great music. Mighn't need to go on taking the things to get you into those higher states but you'd struggle very very hard to find a great band that's been completely dry. & don't anyone suggest Frank Zappa cos his music amounts to ugly sarcastic shit. In effect a boost to teh argument

  • @DatingGameKiller

    i motherfuckin`agree mofo!!!

  • @zizzinello ...thats good shit zizzinello!! Thanks!

  • damn Gilmour is hurting that guitar. Listen to it screaming. fucking Epic

  • @uh0oo ...Goddamn, I know! Gilmour just kills this tune!!!! Truly, he is my fav guitarist of all time. Fucking Epic is right!!!

  • From a drug taker's perspective, there's no general drug taking music wavelength... so music created while using drugs will not necessarily only sound amazing whilst under the influence.

The point being just because Pink Floyd's tunes are obviously the prodigy of a poly-drug-haze inspired phase of their lives, doesn't mean that they aren't the genius of 4 musically gifted nobodies.

  • Thanks for this post, I saw them during this tour (March 73) in Charlotte, NC for $4 door / $3 advance at Park Center. They played the same set list and had a quadrophonic PA ... it set the bar high for every other concert after that!!

  • It's a nuisance to search for VIDEOS and find photo collections disguised as videos. If you do not have a VIDEO to show, do not show anything.

  • @aldobenatube What a stupid comment videos of bands are very rare in the 1970s So do you only watch dvds of bands do you not listen to cd s im happy to listen to music that i cant get anywhere else so if you dont like it dont listen idiot

  • Get the DVD Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii, during the interviews David Girlmour explains they do not use (or used) drugs to make their music "You have to trust in us" Gilmour said

  • @dynwallas Yeah I know. But it really looked like he was joking. He started smiling and stuffs

  • cadmium green light, ultramarine blue/grey scale, purple under sunlight shades

  • @S050NL

That's what I said to my wife. I think we're brothers in soul... ;-) and right: best song ever! (I also like Atom Heart Mother as much because it was my first record I bought)

  • @Isihuber it was also my first record bought :)

  • My top three favorite Pink Floyd songs would have to be-

    1 . Echoes

2 . Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun

    3 . Money

-what are your top 3 Pink Floyd tracks? Please Post !

  • Ahhhh my top 3 Pink Floyd tracks, why do you have to be sooooo crule!! id be hard pressed saying 10! but 3 ok then.....

    1. Echoes

    2. Shine On You Crazy Diamond (all the parts)

    3. Us And Them

(tbh any from Dark Side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here or Animals, oh and Atom Heart Mother suit is epic, also most of The Wall, Medle and Ummagummna)

Why dont Pink Floyd like Atom Heart Mother??? i know it was messy putting it together but its so beautiful!

  • a very common misconception that pink floyd were always high when creating their masterpieces, how on earth do you think they could produce such wonderful pieces of music while off their heads?

  • LSD wasn't drug, though it gave you some nasty experience. Ask some hippies.

Search for Alex Grey.. he comes up with ideas for paintings on trips.

  • Love Floyd, always have, but the Gilmour Live in Gdansk version is sooooo much better. His embelished solos from On an Island are unbelievalbe as well.

  • You're right... Live in Gdansk is just AMAZING!

  • this version of echoes sound tired its my favourite album by Floyd and David Gilmore,s i have seen the Aussie floyd live and im sorry to disappoint there good but there something missing

  • now this is what I call a badass setlist. I think I'd like to hear the Aussies do this exact set.. :)

...and for all of you tribute-haters ("it's just not the same.." DUH), go see them before you diss them, thanks.

  • i doubt pink floyd considers anyone who mimics them a tribute to their sound.

  • @djtrixen agreed! I have seen The MAchine 3-4 times....and they nail the shit out of it! In a good way, that is.....would I mistake them for actually being PF in '77, probably not....but do they do the music VERY good justice and recreate an incredible sound...absolutely.

  • yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that's true. not to say that they never did drugs. that's why i mentioned the "talent and creativity", Barrett and Waters both did a lot of drugs and wrote most of their stuff.

  • wrong...they did drugs gilmour and wright would sometimes take some cocaine...

  • These guys were truly gifted, where the hell they're getting that inspiration to create that classical music; I think they're the envy of all the rock bands, they're the ultimate complete package of a powerful rock band!!!

  • it's called drugs. and lots of talent and creativity.

  • It's not called drugs...

    It's inspiration. It's genious.

There's no need for drugs to do music...

  • well in fact there's a need of drugs to do a certain kind of music... drugs help you understand many things that you in a normal state can't understand... not to mention in this time.. 60's 70's... but yes i understand your point of view.. people should do this kind of sounds without any drug... although pink floyd did actually consumed lsd in the early years.. unfortunetly things for syd didn't gone well..

    R.I.P Syd and Richard

the sound of pink floyd will prevail for thousands of years!

  • You are a genius!

  • @InterstellarFactory True, but you can get inspiration from drugs like nothing else.

  • all the rock bands take drugs but pink floyd is amazing anyway, music legends! and your talent is not a consecuence of take drugs

  • @InterstellarFactory

    yeah, just ask Syd...oops!

  • @mloaks Pink Floyd reached the peak in the post-non-drugs- Syd era...

  • @InterstellarFactory actually as a serious question......are you saying that Rog DAve Nick and Rick did not use drugs in the 70s? That may be true, but I doubt it.

  • @InterstellarFactory but it sure can help! haha...at times at least....

  • @InterstellarFactory to make music

  • @InterstellarFactory

This music is a kind of drug, though ;)

  • @InterstellarFactory you are telling the TRUTH to the people ! I'm glad, thank you !

  • Very...very well put MsCollete!

  • @MsCollete2 Drugs inspired them

  • @MsCollete2

Lol....its like 40 years old what the do still today as single out artists. The got echoes done by experimenting...set a whole new standard in the group. After that Darkside of the moon whole new group you had to listen too ..
