  • Wow Mr. Roper was on that flight.

  • The whole brake failure thing reminded me of "Speed". "Stay above 50! 50 mph!" It makes me wonder if the dude has ever heard of reverse thrust. Better than brakes anyday. Haha his approach looked like my approach on Microsoft Flight Sim.....

  • Welcome to Columbian Airlines! We will make sure if theres an emergency, we land you! In soviet america, Pland lands YOU!

  • The most UN-ROMANTIC "I Love You" in film history at 1:51!

  • How did they keep from freezing to death in that cockpit with the hole in it while they were still 20,000 feet in the air going 600 MPH?

  • @jerico641 They slowed down and decended. This is an an excellent film showing the classic 747 at its best. This is a real aircraft and all of the scenes are real. Just excellent.

  • @emiratesA380NCL

Whatever you say; I'm no pilot. It just seems like they'd be either sucked out by some pretty incredible wind velocity or frozen solid in a few minutes. I guess they must have REALLY slowed down.

  • @jerico641 Yeah, one was sucked out

  • @emiratesA380NCL

    Well, that's true.

  • @emiratesA380NCL Agreed I had saw this movie over and over before Internet Era. 747 is simply a Beauty. Not to mention the soundtrack is amazing. Only other movie with 747 closeup is Air force one, but its all Computer generated, this is REAL.

  • I have to wonder if, sometime around 1982 when the Disaster/Airport Flick Era was over, stars like Heston, Newman (McQueen was already dead then), George Kennedy, Gene Hackman, Ernest Borgnine, Ava Gardner, Robert Wagner, William Holden, Burt Lancaster, Faye Dunaway, Karen Black, Jack Albertson, Stella Stevens, etc. ever got together and compared their various disaster/airport movies from the '70s? I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for THAT conversation LOL.

  • they repared the plane during the flight...

  • Heston is larger than life. Even if he could not pilot a plane, I would still want him flying it in this situation.

  • @easyscore

That's really who he was. The poor guy's gone now.

  • favorite movie when I was a kid, now working on my ATPL

  • Alan tells Nancy that he loves her and she says nothing, what a BITCH!!!

  • @JFKBusDriver LMAO!!!.

  • Mr Roper at :51 !

My yet to be developed apartment at 1:06.

  • We know why you fly. We're Columbia Airlines.

  • Karen black is sexy

  • 3:33 When will they learn to stop leaving pesky plywood shed containing sparklers on the runway?

  • KAREN BLACK IS SO HOT LOOKING!

  • Spoilers are working on the wings on the landing, so can't see why they can't slow down. Oh, but that is Hollywood.

  • Wow great film, i like the way the air hostess panic to get passengers of the damage plane if the thing was about to blow lol, Is that what American people do panic in cause of disaster, over in Britain we are normally are told to remain karm. lol

  • @scottvideos100 Hey, Arsehole, why don't you keep your anti-American comments to yourself. And, reread your history, moron. The US largely developed from the UK and has been the staunchest ally of the UK and defended the UK during WWII. When's the last time you were involved in an airborne emergency? Excuse me, Arsehole, I meant to say an "In-Flight Emergency (IFE)".

  • @FylthyBeest Cant your take a joke, why the seriousness all of a sudden, it a movie, ok i made an spelling error, im sorry, i meant to say charm not karm and i wasnt making any nasty remarks about the Americans, i'am free to comment, it a free world and if you just came on here to start an argument, your aiming at the wrong person, so why dont u just remove your hands from your keyboard and go do something interested like digs some holes in the garden and fill them back in.

  • Remain "karm", idiot.

  • @FylthyBeest Ok i made an spelling, im sorry, i was meant to say charm, but there is no need to be rude and call me an idiot. i advice u to wash your mouth out with soap...

  • it would be a total blast watching this movie with a bunch of airline pilots..

  • love the way they keep serving drinks right throughout the calamity....they were all style in the 70's!

  • I LOVE THE 747

  • hahaha!! How did he steer that thing on the ground if his hand never touched the tiller?

  • jerry stiller slept thru the whole flight..lol

  • LOL Epic fail no reverse thrust , no speed brakes.

  • @BraeDoktor The speedbrakes are clearly deployed on the top of the wing and he clearly uses the thrust reversers.

  • Watch the evacuation slide in the back @ 4:09.

The two women who jump down the slide slip and fall off...

  • @SecretService80 My understanding is that there are injuries with EVERY evacuation down slides. It's no piece of cake. Back when they made this, I wonder if they even sized up the danger before shooting this scene.

  • @JetMechMA Yeah, they probably thought it was going to be like a Slip n' Slide with no water...

  • @JetMechMA Your "understanding" is incorrect. Slides, as with any other emergency egress device, must be tested periodically. When this was done with the E-4B National Airborne Operations Center, a Boeing 747, crewmembers routinely exercised egress procedures down the slide whenever slide deployment tests were conducted. Crewmembers participated simply because it was fun. Boeing would not make an egress device that would injure people "EVERY" time. I doubt your credentials or knowledge.

  • @FylthyBeest: Boeing would not make an egress device that would injure people "EVERY" time.

JM: Boeing WOULD in fact make such a device. They intend to meet FAA minimum safety mandates.....period. The airlines want the device as cheap as possible to meet FAA regs. The E-4B you speak of is crewed by Air Force physical specimens. A person can NOT remain in the military unless they are physically fit. There is no fitness requirement of passengers who board a commercial airliner.

  • @JetMechMA No. Neither Boeing or any other company wishing to stay in profitable business would manufacture a device designed to injure people "every" time it was used. And, to think or say that they would is foolish and absurd. Pysical fitness of the passengers was not the issue. Your accusation regarding Boeing was the issue. You are wrong and simply cannot admit it. Your credentials are beyond being simply suspect.

  • @FylthyBeest I never said that they deliberately designed it that way....they just don't care, is all. Tell us, who is an airline going to buy airplanes from if not Boeing? There ya go....there's your answer. But in the mean time, I'm going to point out how you had to twist my words in order to....what?....win an argument on Youtube? Is it that important to you? With my comment, I was trying to give people a heads up who might some day have to use an escape slide. They better watch their ass.

  • The score is a whopping disaster cliche all of its own.

  • Chuck Heston. Larger than life itself.

  • i love the 747

  • Uncle Henry! Auntie Em! Toto! It's a twister! It's a twister!

Look's like a I picked the wrong week to quit sniffin' glue...

Route him into Lake Michigan. At least he'll avoid killing innocent people

  • thumbs up if this is the best airport series movie made

  • this Plane is Ex American Airlines.

  • @Manu2455 yes isint this the 747-200 and i thought american only had the 747-100 and do u know why they stoped using 747s

  • Helen Ready should have sang "I am women" when singing to LInda Blair. LOL!

  • Mr. Roper and Mr. Castanza are passengers. What a pair!

  • "Nancy"

    "Yes?"

    "I love you"

    Nancy: what ever

  • 3:36... first one to catch the 747 wins a free holiday!!!

  • u can see the womans sexy legs

  • wow they used older fire engines for this movie

  • I love Linda Blair. She's so cute! I love her so much! <3

I LOVE LINDA BLAIR IN THIS FILM.

  • Nothing like telling a woman you love her when you are in a damaged 747 on short final

  • Comment removed

  • Was that Barbara Billingsly????? in the scene where is beginning to exit the runway??????

  • @pianomanmaestro I believe Nancy Olson was the actress. Not Barbara.

  • I going to give this a DAMN thumbs up! DAMN! LOL

  • @EmpireLS56KW I think we get the DAMN idea!

  • Charlton Heston says damn a lot in this film. LOL

    Damn dirty ape

Damn dirty plane won't fly straight

    Damn dirty Earthquake in sensurround

I've got get this on region1DVD i hate damn dirty bluray discs with damn dirty DNR on the image. I want to see Airport '75 with damn dirty film grain.

  • B and C actors galore. Where was Mickey Rooney and Shelly Winters?

  • They should have mixed and recorded Airport ’75 in (((Sensurround))) its got a nice low end rumble feel on the JBL sound system even for mono.

  • Why is there suspense as the aircraft is on final? It's not like the aircraft will explode, or even crash.

  • Bad News....Fog's getting thicker...

    AND LEON'S GETTING LARRRRRGER!!!!!

  • In all of the exterior shots, the 747 is completely undamaged. When it's on the ground and the passengers are jumping on the slides, you can clearly see that the cockpit is completely intact.

  • 1. They forgot to activate Beacon Light & Strobe Lights so they are good see able even at Day!

    2. Did the Passengers go in their Brace Position? No...

    3. The Ground Support should wait till the Aircraft has made a full Stop because if the Fire Trucks drive right behind the aircraft they get blew away from Jet Blast!

    4. If the Aircraft is unstable before Emergency Landing and it keeps flying Left and Right like on 1:24 then they may pull Rudder immediately Left and Right so it can stabilize!

  • @M0RGaN98 Embellishment for dramatic purposes... aka Artistic License

  • @pyrowolf3918 well i all know that from FSX lol

  • 2:36 DAMN! Told you so! LOL

3:27 DAMN! Told you so! LOL

    DAMN DIRTY 747! LOL

DAMN LET’S GET OUT THE PLANE QUICKLY!

DAMN if this is a DVD image it looks DAMN good better than any bluray I have my DAMN dirty collection.

  • The sound when the wheels hit the ground :D

  • I love you, Nancy.

  • The lady in the cockpit seated behind Charlton Heston (Nancy) has funny looking eyes. Is she cross-eyed?

  • I LOVE THE 747

  • I KNEW pilot will say something macho bullshit at end!

  • Why can't I see right side on 747 when landing

  • 3:22...attention extras! everyone swing to the right now!

  • Remind me again why they needed to do the emergency exit ? It wasn't on fire.

  • @tanyafoxx yeah i couldn't understand the first time I saw this why they had to get out of the plane so fast

  • @tanyafoxx Structural damage from a mid-air collision, fuel leaking from one wing, colliding with the utility shack on the ground with the other wing - they were't going to pull that plane up to a terminal gate.

  • @tanyafoxx

There can be some internal damage in plane which is not obvious, but can ultimately cause explosion.

  • Gloria Swansons body double down the chute is hilarious..its so obvious its not her hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • very b grade, the worst in the series...I bet Myrna Loy was so embarrased

  • @kangaroosbraun you obviously haven't seen Airport '79 The Concorde XD

  • @DisasterFlicks I remember in that one Patroni (George Kennedy) had been promoted from ground crew to pilot, of a Concorde no less.

  • @DisasterFlicks the concorde ... airport '79 is better

  • Is that George Costanza's dad?

  • @Dooby1986 yes, that's him! Mr.roper from threes company was in that as well!

  • you know, it would have been a better movie if they had somehow mixed in the Excorcist part II into this movie. You know kill all the dumb white people and then have heston be Moses and save the heathens and the plane.

  • It would have been a better movie if Heston had Johnny Henshaw helping him in the control room:

"Johnny what do you make of this?"

"This? Why I could make a broach, or a plane or a pterodactyl...!"

  • @HuasoPodrido Lame idea, Huaso.

  • I am only thinking of your protection.

  • Heston.....larger than life

  • Love this film!

    Best line: "Over The Fence"

Most Awkward: "Nancy?" "Yes?" "I love you." SILENCE...

Best Ad Boeing: "This mother's got ten backup systems too."

  • who was the pilot that flew the AA 747? of course, for the cameras, it was probably the smoothest 747 landing recorded in history!

  • @rallyden Capt Donald Mcbain i believe. Its in the credit roll. They shot all the aerial photography of the plane in 2 days over the Heber Canyon at a cost of 50 grand per day for the plane. Wonder what that would be today? Amazing aerial photography. My all time fav 747 movie!!

  • This is part is my favourite of the whole movie. Just great!

  • LOVE THIS MOVIE!

  • I Agree on that

  • Awesome !!
