JM: Three ways, nose-wheel steering through the rudder pedals, which give 7 degrees of steering travel. Differential braking. Differential thrust (although it is forbidden in the Jet-Run Handbook.) The fourth way is as you said, the steering tiller.

When this was done with the E-4B National Airborne Operations Center, a Boeing 747, crewmembers routinely exercised egress procedures down the slide whenever slide deployment tests were conducted. Crewmembers participated simply because it was fun. Boeing would not make an egress device that would injure people "EVERY" time. I doubt your credentials or knowledge.

1. They forgot to activate Beacon Light & Strobe Lights so they are good see able even at Day!
2. Did the Passengers go in their Brace Position? No...
3. The Ground Support should wait till the Aircraft has made a full Stop because if the Fire Trucks drive right behind the aircraft they get blew away from Jet Blast!
4. If the Aircraft is unstable before Emergency Landing and it keeps flying Left and Right like on 1:24 then they may pull Rudder immediately Left and Right so it can stabilize!

JM: That's actually the way it's done. I've seen it first hand. They don't know where the aircraft might crash or depart from the runway, so they follow as close behind as they can. Remember, the aircraft is pulling away from them at 130 , 140 miles per hour.

@rallyden Capt Donald Mcbain i believe. Its in the credit roll. They shot all the aerial photography of the plane in 2 days over the Heber Canyon at a cost of 50 grand per day for the plane. Wonder what that would be today? Amazing aerial photography. My all time fav 747 movie!!
