As many people have mentioned that, that cashier was extremely rude to talk to Grover in a rude way. I agree about that. I noticed another thing which was rude in this skit where after the cashier yelled at Grover saying to go to the other register since his register was closed, those two people behind Grover were not being very nice to run away fast and not let Grover go ahead of them since Grover was at the register before them and like they say "first come first serve."
As many have pointed out, it's true. You don't all of a sudden close the register just like that. You usually put up a closed sign at the end of the line of people. I work in a grocery store, and I should know. Who hired that guy anyway?
I think the cashier is voiced by the same guy who voiced the florist on Monsterpiece Theater's "The Postman Always Rings Twice", though I don't know who that is.
The muppeteer you're probably thinking about which I assume you would be correct is Noel MacNeal, the same person who does Bear from "Bear in the Big Blue House".
I find this pretty much happens in real life to me alot. Letting people in front (without a thank you usually) and then a bunch of people that were behind me jumping in front to go to the next register when it opens up
Poor Grover. Just because he was friendly to the lady with the hungry kitten, he was fooled by Loyds friend and even had to go to the next register. That just isn´t fair!
That's true. I felt bad for Grover too that he was told to go to the next register (especially for waiting too long) but, maybe the cashier didn't notice or wasn't paying attention to the people Grover allowed to go in front of him. I also thought that it wasn't fair that, that cashier closed the register with people in it and he was yelling at Grover, especially there was no sign saying "Register Closed." If a cashier spoke to me like that I'd say, "if you don't like your job, just quit."
Maybe Grover first put all the stuff back where he got them and then he probably left the supermarket since he never got his turn to pay the cashier. I'm sure Grover wouldn't steal any of the stuff he tried to buy since he calls himself a cute lovable pal/monster to everyone. The other thing that I noticed was that, Grover invited himself to that pickle party when he probably doesn't know that guy Lloyd, or Lloyd's friend. Also, Lloyd and Lloyd's friend didn't invite Grover to the party.
I also noticed that the other customers didn't pay for the things that they were going to buy. I never saw any of the customers taking out money, or the cashiers putting out their hands to receive money, or the cashiers telling the customers what the total price is (both cashiers just kept their left hands on the cash registers and never talked). Except the first cashier talked to Grover in a rude way.
Was that pink little boy in the front of the line in the beginning of the skit the same kid who played as Charlie in the skit where Charlie was lost and he saw his Uncle Louie dressed as a policeman?
Okay, one, you do not just up and close a checkout lane with people in it, and two, if I had spoken like that cashier did, I'd be out of a job real quick. Grover should've gone to get the manager.
I agree, that cashier had no right to speak to Grover like that. He should be quiting his job with that attitude. Probably Grover didn't get the manager because for one thing, he's probably very used to Fat Blue being rude to him in Charlie's Restaurant, stores, etc. and, Grover always calls himself a lovable pal to everyone that he doesn't like to whine and complain about someone to another person like the supermarket manager.
Yes, that was strange how the cashier closed the register with people waiting in line. If he was planning on closing after a certain amount of people, he could've said "folks after these people I'm closing the register, so the rest of you will need to go to that register." Or maybe the reason he closed the register with people in it because, probably the cash register broke and the cashier was taking his anger out on Grover acting like it was all Grover's fault that the cash register broke.
Good observation, that is indeed a personality. But rather than take his anger out on Grover, he should have simply explained what was up. That's what I'd have done.
Looks like someone put a bad luck spell on Grover. I know this because I use to pput bad luck spells on people, and watching them suffer is fun to watch until they die.
Maybe the reason why Grover let those people go in front of him is because since Grover calls himself a cute lovable pal to everyone, Grover probably never likes to be rude to anyone, and maybe he probably thought that if he said "no" to those customers who asked to go in front of him, Grover probably thought that it would be rude and he would not have a kind heart if he said "no." If this was the reason then, that was very nice of Grover to show respect to the other customers.
I feel sorry for Grover. Starving kitty cat my foot, I bet she wanted to get back home to watch Sesame Street. Grover do let these people con you, you stand up for yourself.
I wonder if Grover knows that guy Lloyd and the friend Lloyd was with. If not, it was probably very impolite for Grover to be inviting himself to that pickle party.
Maybe all the stuff Grover is carrying is all stuck together because Grover is not holding anything on top and he keeps spinning around too fast and nothing is falling down. So maybe Grover thinks he doesn't need a cart since everything he's carrying is all very light and it's all probably stuck together.
Unless you're behind someone using one for the first time, who has no clue how to do it. They can also make you feel a bit guilty if you think about how they're putting the cashiers out of work.
Well, since I've used self-checkout machines plenty of times before, if someone whose using it for the first time, I'd show them how to use it. Teach from experience.
Some of us can't use self-checkout machines. I can't use one for instance because they're touch-screen, and I am near totally blind. Talk about disability barriers in the 21st century.

My, what a rude cashier. Who voices him?
And am I right in thinking that Lloyd, whom we can hear mumbling a bit, is voiced by Carroll Spinney? He sounds rather like Bennett Snerf.
