I think a lot of people are being hoodwinked when it comes to the cheaper HD cams. The lenses are so small on something like a $600 cam that they can't collect enough light to give a decent image. It's much better by far to find a good used high-end miniDV unit. A really good DV cam will actually outperform many of the cheaper HD cams and will still upconvert to HD just fine using something like UpRez.

The video quality in this video is superb and it dosn't even have a HD or HQ option. Was your source in HD or SD?
