man it was kinda ridiculous how Nintendo Power had a top 5 Virtual Boy Games list...and you said they only made 14 games for the systems whole lifespan??......
I picked up a Virtual Boy last weekend and I've been LOVING Wario Land. That game is fantastic. The 3D effect in the system is pretty awesome, and overall I can't complain about it.
Something neat to note that John didn't have is that you CAN get an AC adapter for the system which then makes use of a SNES power cable so you don't have to use batteries with it. The one I got has this AC adapter and as far as I know it's the only "peripheral" released for the console.
Just to watch this video I had to: Download the video using YouTube downloader, convert to PSP format, move to my PSP SD Card VIDEO folder, get my TobiaAc!d 3D goggles (Came With Metal Gear Ac!d 2) and then put the SD card back into the PSP and watched. All I can say is that is was totally worth it and will do it every video just to see it in 3D!
@IzLoveMoneyz let your eyes relax, try to get closer to the screen, try to get further away etc. your looking to try to get an image in the middle of the two other images.
Wow this turned out really well! The red lens on the glasses can be a bit harsh at times but I'm willing to strain my eyes a tad to watch your awesome reviews in 3d :). Keep it up man!
I was actually not aware I had the ability to focus my eyes while they were crossed until I attempted watching this video.
I think this is a cool idea, but it didn't do the VB any justice. I do hope there will be more of these, but you should probably experiment more with camera placement before posting another.
Teleroboxer was awesome IMO; it makes good use of the awkward controller. The controls have a bit of a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, the real challenge begins. :D
I believe the other reason Nintendo chose the colour red was because it used less battery power than any other colour.
But There was a head brace for the system originally, they pulled it after one of the testers kids thought it would be a good idea to play the Virtual Boy whilst walking down the stairs though. Those rubber bits on the side was where it was supposed to attach.
Nice Gamester I'm really liking the new background your other backgrounds were just so dull no offense , I always thought to my self I bet this guy's game room is so cool yet he lacks in showing it off as a BG I think it just really give a nice touch.
@Gamester81in3D Great review John. Th 3D effect in the video works very well :) You forgot to mention about gunbei yokoi that he designed the first original gameboy. Keep up the good work man :D
You are an Hero. Buying the Virtual Boy at day one... At that price... You deserved a medal! :)
I don't agree when you say that the 3D effect on Virtual Boy is better than the 3DS' one. Maybe are my eyes but I remember that I can't really see the 3D on this freaking thing...
And Red Alarm deserve more love. wireframe all-red poligons in 3D: wonderfullly crazy! But my favorite Virtual Boy game is Vertical Force :)
Great vid! I remember renting one of those systems from Blockbuster way back in the day. U mentioned it being cross compatible w US and Jap games. Were there 2 different styles of the console or was there just the one sold in both the US and Japan?
The 3D video works good on small devices if you cross your eyes. I tried crossing my eyes on my laptop bit it does not work that well. On the iPod Touch its more like the sweet spot like the 3DS.
batman arkhum asylum GOTY edition gave me free 3d glasses ....now i can watch gamerster81 in 3d instead of breaking my eyes :D

This vid works the best in 3D so far. You really see the depth, because of all the stuff in the background like your arcade machine.

This was your best 3D vid so far, I think having a good depth of field for backround really helps the effect :)
